  1. You mean there are 2 sides to the story?
  2. The sad news that Jon Armstrong has reached the end of the road http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.29199 http://www.stokepotters.co/news.php?extend.790
  3. Doyley is certainy putting that theory to the test but if that is the case why do Leicester want to buy him?
  4. Tbf I don't think he is available 'to pick' but they had to do something 'to guest' as it would probably mean getting a tier 2 rider in Auty's place. Agree but they have to do what's best for their business it's the problem with Teams being Commercial entities rather than cubs
  5. Blimey. Have the Junior and senior forums merged ?
  6. Just seen this on the FB page if anyone has any info ------------------------------------------- *** ALERT ***Leicester Speedway are extremely disappointed to find that the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium has been broken into about 6.30pm this evening. Due to the high level of security we have invested in, the damage was limited, the Management and Police are on site. If anyone saw or hears of anything suspicious please contact the office. Police are carrying out further investigations.
  7. Depends if Swindon want time to sort theit bikes after the first few heats I'd say . Rosco can be a very persuasive chappy
  8. Ok Thanks for that Shame !!!
  9. Cov have the 2 top reserves in the FTDR. They are going to be difficult to beat by anyone in the league.
  10. This Sunday Speedway returns to Hi-Edge for the first time for a month and its the visit of near neighbours the Stoke Potters that has the tongues wagging. Team manager Jason Pipe is under no illusion that the men from the Potteries will offer a stern test as they arrive in the Dales on the back of two victories We must not take the Potters too lightly. They are on a high at the moment having won their last 2 meetings. The last of them being an away win at Kent. We may have won recently at Stoke, but don't underestimate them, as they'll be coming here hell bent on looking for revenge! I'm sure my good friend Malcolm Vasey will have his boys fired up for this one! It's up to us to be up for it from the start. The threat from the visitors may come from an unexpected source according to the Buxton Boss I'm sure a close eye will be kept on Buxton old boy Paul Burnett, who could be a trump card at reserve for the Potters, having ridden for me in the past at this level, I know what he's capable of! Whatever happens on Sunday I'm sure it's going to be a close fought meeting and let's hope us Hitmen still have the bragging rights over our local rivals come 5pm on Sunday evening! Pipe is keen that his charges begin well on Sunday having been slow starters in both the previous two home fixtures In our first 2 home meetings this season we have been losing after the first 4 heats. This is just not good enough and it has to change quickly. We are making it hard for ourselves. Also in our first home meeting against Coventry, we took the chequered flag only 4 times and against Mildenhall it was only slightly better on 6 occasions. We need to be winning more races. Our riders seriously need to look at their gating and need to focus more on their starts. A defeat on Sunday would not be acceptable. I'm not even thinking that, because I know my boys are capable of collecting all 3 points. Adam Extance has been struggling to start with. He thinks it's being down to his set ups and since our last meeting, he's gone back to basics, to how they were at the back end of last season and I know he was to go and do some testing and was riding in the Julie Lewis Memorial meeting on Thursday just gone at Redcar. I'm sure Adam will get going soon and we'll see the scores that he's capable of, which will then make us a very hard team to beat! He went on, however, to bemoan the lack of home action his boys are having Sunday will be like starting the season all over again at home. Our lads haven't had the chance yet to get dialled in to their home track yet. We are currently going 4 weeks between home fixtures, which isn't good for the lads or the supporters. Again after Sunday, we unfortunately have to go another 4 weeks before our next home meeting, then after that it looks like we are racing at home every Sunday, bar one or two. Finally Pipe asked for the fans support in the second half on Sunday We have an MDL meeting in the 2nd half and it would be great to see fans staying back to watch these lads in action. I'm giving MDL debuts to Dale Lamb and Blair Smith. Those 2 along with Kev Whelan and George Rothery makes our team an interesting one because I'm sure at least one of these could well be in a Buxton race jacket in the NL in 2016! That's the aim and the reason why we are running a team in the MDL. These lads know it's now time to impress, if they want me to consider them for a NL berth next season! Please stay back if you can and show these lads some support. Buxton 1.Tony Atkin 2.Tom Woolley 3.Adam Extance 4.Ryan Blacklock 5.Liam Carr 6.David Holt 7. Paul Bowen Stoke 1.Jon Armstrong 2. Chris Widman 3. Ryan Terry Daly 4. Danny Phillips 5. Lee Payne 6. Ryan MacDonald 7. Paul Burnett http://www.buxtonhitmen.co/news.php?extend.377
  11. Maybe I am getting you mixed up with someone else. There are so many 'know it all's on here. It's hard to keep track My apologies if I have !! Having seen him last night you can see why Buzz doesn't need the UK which, apparently he did last year. and it does seem unless you have a relationship with riders they just use the UK for a training ground. If there is no one suitable now. Will there be ? Should we throw caution to the wind and focus on building for next year maybe move Wozniak to Ht leader and take on a 2nd string who may improve and commit next year? Also the FTRD has lost it's way a bit. It is now focusing again on match winning reserves which isn't what it was designed to do. The likes of kerr, blackbird, Garrity, Newman etc need to be released in to the main body as it is criminal that the likes of Morley, Clegg, Stokes, Perry, D Greenwood don't have FT rides
  12. I read somewhere the facility was 14 days. Fanmale has been very quiet so we need to assume no news on the new rider front
  13. Quite right. We are all entitled I wssn't there but it was my son he took off and I would rather he was on the track with him than others I could mention who not only are wild but woildn't apologise profusely but would add insult to injury by accusing him of getting in their way
  14. The wind was blowing and the sun was shinning and as quick as the track was being watered it was drying. Dust was quite heavy
  15. Not sure you have understood my point. I don't have a problem putting your point. Just the subject of a well respected individual who worked tirelessly for Leicester dying a happy man. I may even carry on collecting to sponsor a heat in his name
  16. If this is still the stand issue. He didn't get any personal friends to do anything. Sally Ashenden approached the managent with the concept they agreed but would lose potential sponsorship for the stand it was agreed that £2000 would suit bith parties. Sally Could have said no and done something else. Which was the other option had the full amount been raised. In turn we have all been able to show our appreciation for a true Lion. ! Now wold you please stop using the Stand collection as ammunition.
  17. We seem to be all systems go; From the Stoke Website; http://www.stokepotters.co/news.php?extend.771 STOKE Easy Rider Potters entertain the Mildenhall Fen Tigers in the City Gearboxes National League at Loomer Road on Sunday afternoon, 3pm.The Potters are looking for their first league win of the season in what is a busy couple of days for the Loomer Road septet with an away trip to Kent on Monday evening also. The Potters will need to be at their best against the quick starting Tigers who have a decent record around the Chesterton circuit in the past few seasons. The Tigers are led by skipper Daniel Halsey who continues to be a consistent scorer in the National League and he is well supported by Connor Mountain and Jack Kingston. Luke Riddick and Connor Coles complete the top five and they provide a solid back up to the top three in the side. At reserve the Tigers have Stefan Farnaby and Tom Bacon to complete the side with both riders capable of scoring points on the day.Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey said Mildenhall are a good side who are currently third in the table, but I feel we have been unfortunate in our opening fixtures having away meetings at the likes of leaders Birmingham, Eastbourne two tracks where nobody has won and Kings Lynn where we were without Lee Payne also leaving us in what I believe is a false position. They have a couple of riders who dont know our track and we will need to take advantage of this in the early heats on Sunday. Our lads have been through the mill early on but they are still in good spirits and they are all eager to show what they can do and get out and perform and hopefully gain our first victory on Sunday.STOKE: Jon Armstrong (Captain), Chris Widman, Ryan Terry-Daley, Danny Phillips, Lee Payne, Ryan MacDonald, Paul BurnettMILDENHALL: Daniel Halsey (Captain), Jack Kingston, Connor Mountain, Luke Ruddick, Connor Coles, Stefan Farnaby, Tom BaconSTOKE Hartshill Cycles Spitfires are also in action immediately after the main meeting when they take on last seasons league Champions Milton Keynes in the Midland Development League. The Spitfires are led into action by Ryan MacDonald with Sam Ward returning to the line-up after he missed a couple of meetings recently. Layne Cupitt and Cameron Hoskins complete the Spitfires line up.STOKE: Ryan MacDonald, Sam Ward, Layne Cupitt, Cameron HoskinsMILTON KEYNES: Rob Watts, Lee Springthorpe, Connor King, Rob Parker The 2nd half looks a cracker to.
  18. May aswell reschedule then. The fixture appears to be prov anyway
  19. Lions need someone in place for the 19th, Cov away, as the facility for Bridger will have expired. Unless they go for a 6 point PL rider for probably 4 meetings.
  20. Sadly he was never well enough to make the trip to BP and yes he did pass knowing that the money had been raised
  21. From The Lions Facebook page. It is with regret that we bring the sad news that Dennis Manton passed away today. Dennis was a life-long fan of Speedway who first attended meetings at Blackbird Road during the days of the Hunters. When the sport returned to Leicester in 1968 Dennis followed the Lions through to closure of the stadium.During the intervening years Dennis was an active campaigner, often canvassing people door to door to raise awareness and lobbying support for the return of speedway to Leicester. Along with other like-minded people his work led to the submission of a petition to the local authority and subsequently Dennis became a member of an Action Group that began to look at possible land in and around the County of Leicestershire to build a new speedway stadium.During the time throughout the building of the stadium in Beaumont Leys, Dennis was involved as a volunteer in many ways and his dream of seeing his beloved sport return finally came to fruition in 2011. A long serving member of the Leicester Speedway Supporters Club and a driving force in raising funds to support the club and team on match days Dennis will be greatly missed by the speedway fraternity. He had a special place in the hearts of Lions fans and his absence will leave a great void within the club. ----------------------------- RIP to such a lovely man xxx
  22. Thanks for the kind words but apart from the adhoc things and texting heat results to proboards as Topspin(keeping people like your goodself who can't get informed) I don't do that much. Hope to meet up one day though.
