Sheffield Vs Scunthorpe - 14/9/16

There was a few rumours circulating round the stadium. One is true; it's safe to say it's not only a hand injury. -
Plrc 2016....who's Your Winner?
yorkshiretyke replied to Dcb7's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hope the track is good as this is the best set of riders competing in the PLRC for quite some time. Pretty much an open field as many have said. As a tiger hoping Steady and Garrity get to the final. Simon has not been his old self this year; however he did come within 0.1 of the track record not so long ago. He might not pass like he used to but if he hits the front; nobody will catch him. Jason has been awesome of late and is very quick too.. Final - winner from Stead Garrity King Cook -
Sheffield V Somerset Pl 11/08/2016 7.30

Really looking forward to this 1. If the Tigers can finally click together; no blown engines like last week for Howarth and Berge who both had to switch to spare bikes I can see us winning this. dont think there will be much between the reserves scores together. As a 1 to 5 at Owlerton against the same of Somerset; I'm pretty confident that each one (if on form) will out score the other convincingly. Having said that Somerset are unbeaten all season for a reason and full credit to them for that. I like many others wrote them off at the start of the season. -

From what I heard round the pits it was definitely bike trouble. Was discussing with his Dad and Jonny (mechanic) that his bikes have been "spinning up" for last 2 weeks! Looked like he was getting it sorted. Never seen Steady go backwards like that around Owlerton. Looked like he was battling with the track big time. He'll sort it, no doubt! -
Sheffield V Glasgow Pl Thurs 12th May 2016 @19-45

Got to agree think this should be a cracker. Could go either way so expect it to be close. Could very well be won and lost at reserve. I think Sissis coming back in the team will make us stronger but surely will take a couple of meetings to get back upto speed. Not sure if he has been practicing or not. Both teams have a strong top 5. Lawson, Summers always good for a decent score around Owlerton and last time Barker was here he got 18 max. Weather forecast looks good so I'll go for a close 48-42 -

Bright sky's in Sheffield at minute but forecast not the best. With the weather in this country it's hard to believe the last time Sheffield had a rain off at home was 2014 season; not 1 last year or so far this year. If it goes ahead it's hard to see anything other than a Sheffield win by 10+ I agree with the change; it had to be either Kyle or Josh going to 2. Kyle doesn't seem to have got the set up yet or riding the right lines. Maybe riding with Steady will help him find the fastest way around. -

Wasn't a bad meeting tonight; Ipswich have a decent team but sorry to say they need to get rid of Paco quick otherwise they will achieve nothing. Can't carry on with reserves getting 4 - 5 between them and be successful. Sheffield seem to be making hard work of home meetings so far; pretty sure some team is gonna take a hiding soon. Steady - seems to have EF every meeting uncharacteristicly but HT.13 proved he's still got it. Once in front he pulled away from King with ease who was very quick tonight. Berge - what a great little rider he is. Very fast and great style. Kyle - always trying but seems to be underpowered around Owlerton. Bates - poor tonight, even when leading he seemed to go backwards. Garrity - always a trier and think he is great for Sheffield speedway. Wasn't happy with his bikes speed after ht.13 he said in interview. Hall - better tonight, glimpses of old Hally passing but still not Richard of old. Greaves - impressed, seems to be getting better every week. Noticed Sarj cut across him in ht.8. Haven't got history have they? got a lot of potential this team and could go all the way. King - very fast tonight and great to watch around Owlerton. Sarj - rode well tonight but again jumping the start and then blaming ref. Kerr - so glad to see him back and riding hard. Tailed off at the end but still good scoring. Morten - usual Risager hit and miss. Covatti- mr entertainment, what a style he has and very quick. We should never have got rid of him and Sheffields loss is certainly Ipswich's gain. Paco - sorry Paco but you have to go.... Feel sorry for him; such a nice kid but was poor. Ritchings - got better as meeting went on and a real trier. -

Yes talking about the Sheffield track. Racing has been poor so far this season. -

Ipswich have a decent team if they all ride to their potential. Looking forward to this 1 tonight. Hope the track has more dirt on it now since the weather has been better. Been very slick so far this season which has resulted in lots of FTG. Sheffield by 12-14 pts. -
Hoping to get down for this one, always enjoy watching speedway at Peterborough, great surroundings great track. On paper this should be a cracker, both teams in for a good season by the looks of it. Wasn't much to choose between then at Owlerton. I would say that Sheffield have slightly stronger top 5 but Peterborough are much stronger at reserve. Was impressed with Perry the other night and Grondal is probably the strongest reserve in the league. I think for Sheffield to get a point or more depends on Hall. If he is poor like his last 2 showings I can see Peterborough winning by around 12. Sheffields top 5 will have to score 40+ between them to give us a chance which is a big ask against a very good all round team.

Looking forward to the season coming, think the promotion have put an exciting team together. Steady will be 100% fit and raring to go, he said there is no way he would have returned unless he knew that for sure and he is always in the gym. Having Sheffield as his home track will ensure the confidence will return quickly. Garrity is after the No1 spot and I can only see him getting better, Howarth is a good signing and will be a good back up to the top 2. How successful Sheffield will be I believe rests on the lower order. The vast improvements Bates showed last season will be key and I know he already can't wait for next season investing heavily on equipment and under guidance of Stead will improve further.. Berge I think will be ok on the big fast tracks and has looked good at Sheffield previously, smaller tight tracks I still think he has some improving to do.. Hall has the ability and with Owlerton as his home track should put 2 pts on his average. On good equipment I think he will be ok but the big question is will he be consistent enough. Greaves I have no idea about, could go either way but he does need to calm down a little and have less crashes.. I see a similarity with him as with Bates. Once Stead helped him out you could see the changes almost instantly, the different lines he was using on the track and how much more speed he had and much more control of the bike. Hope this happens for Nathan too.

Got to say well done Peterborough they wanted it more and it showed massively!! I love Garrity think he has been awesome for us this year but we needed a Steady, Kurtz, Cook tonight. Barker was fired up and we needed that No.1 to stop him!! Hats off to him though never missed a gate and was gone by 2nd bend.. I had a feeling this new look Sheffield side wasn't strong enough!! Should have kept the Guest at No1 which probably would have been Danny King and Josh @ reserve.. Disappointed yes but onwards and upwards. Unlikely to progress any further this year but.... who knows!! If not enjoyed this year even though the ridiculous injuries we've had. Hope to see Steady back and good as ever next season. He is without doubt the master of Owlerton.

Shame about heat 15 first time round, Ash in front lifting right in front of Andre leaving him no where to go!! A 5-1 was possible then with Cookie stone last although it might not have finished that way.. Big difference instead of a 2 point lead it could have been 10.. All that said 2 or 10 I still think Edinburgh will have more than enough to overcome either. Good team put together again, they will be there or thereabouts at the end of season. Love or hate them they always put together a good side.

Sheffo's Proctor Out!
yorkshiretyke replied to TheScotsman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Stop talking Bo**ocks man!! Proctor was 9th in the whole averages 3 weeks ago, coming off a bad injury last season. Not too bad imo! Whoevers fault it is, in your case the management at Sheffield, maybe it is, maybe it ain't. All I know is the whole situation needs addressing! For Speedway as a whole sake. 95% of a riders time racing is spent in a team which should mean team riding and doing the best for the team. All this promotes now is individuals battling each other in the same side possibly causing unnecessary collisions and potential injury.. Speedway is officially dying on its ass -
Think it was a decent meeting!! Not the amazing racing Tatum and Pearson were making out but good.. Like the banks on turns, Grajczonek pass in 11 was quality!! Well done Glasgow good all round team.. Love seeing Andre enjoying his racing again and looking better meeting after meeting. Can't help thinking if Sheffield had the team they started season with could well have won this meeting.. Those ifs and buts went a while ago now so onwards and hopefully upwards 😁😁

Correct, Bates needs to concentrate on his Speedway and learn to stop on his bike. Got talent but way too erratic. Lewis Kerr though?? Behave now 😂😂😂

Ipswich Witches V Sheffield Tigers Monday 4th May
yorkshiretyke replied to Badge's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fantastic win for Sheffield yesterday glad I decided to go, after the hammering we took at Somerset I wasn't really expecting a point never mind 3! Yes Ipswich had their problems and bad decisions against them but you have to take advantage of this if and when the opportunity comes around. Luckily for us it was to be the case, helped by some fast gating and determination. After the last 2 seasons this year is a massive improvement, massively disappointed that Steady and Bellego are missing but think they have been covered well so far. 7 points from 3 away matches is more than we managed all last season so can't complain. On a separate note I have read some negative posts regarding Ty Proctor which I think are a little bit unfair. Upto the Ipswich home match he was on a 9+ average and 9th in the Speedway star averages! Not bad when his official average is around 6.50. His away form apart from at Somerset has been very good just needs to master Owlerton. Andre has also been going about his business quietly and riding very well too. Going forward I think changing the riding order may benefit us! At home i would be tempted to for 1. Guest 2. Birks 3. Proctor 4. Garrity 5. Compton Reserves either way
