  1. Heard that Broc Nicol is nearly ready to return racing. Just wondering if he could slot back into the 1-7 in place of Kemp or Kennedy? No disrespect to those 2 however, if Sheffield have any outside chance of making the playoffs then they need to pick up points at either Eastbourne or Edinburgh where Nicol has had very good scores at. Tomorrows meeting at Somerset is the crucial fixture as realistically Somerset are the only team i can see Sheffield replacing in the top 4. Only a win or draw i think will give us a chance. Wonder if Leicester may bring in Nicol to strenghen their chances if we miss out. He was very much making a mockery of his low average before getting injured!
  2. Not the best of meetings tonight; track dusty and patchy in places which caught a couple of riders out. Think stock cars were here last weekend. A win is a win and takes us off the foot of the table for now against a Berwick team I thought may have been better. Not necessarily win but keep us on our toes. A couple of Berwick riders looked disinterested to say the least. Interesting to see the young Aussie Cooper Riordan having a fair few laps after the meeting. Wonder if he is one of the riders the promotion are looking to bring in. Looks pretty decent for his first laps around Owlerton.
  3. Have to agree; the Sheffield promotion have been great since taking over. I do wonder if it was a different rider injured whether they would have been replaced. One thing is for sure; they need to resolve this now or forget the top 4! Too many capable teams this year. Interestingly we were ok with R/R and I said all along Graversen would not cut it at 4. I think Smith is really struggling on away tracks too and looks well off the pace. I don’t know who we can bring in but one things for certain, we cannot wait much longer.
  4. First and foremost; well done Panthers on the draw, if it wasn’t for some very determined riding from Charles Wright; could easily have won this match. Without being disrespectful to the Panthers I think if the visiting team had been Scunthorpe tonight we would have got our asses handed too us. Tigers were toiling tonight for the first time at home in a long time. I do believe this was a one off. Even if we had carried on with R/R tonight I think we would have had 50+. Add to that Howarth clearly not at the races tonight. Not too concerned but sooner Bates returns the better. Still a top 4 team with a fully fit team but may have to play catch up this year.
  5. Looking forward to this meeting. Scunthorpe have a very good team this year and at Owlerton they look very capable on paper. Bringing in Lawson makes the stronger; Stevie Worral not notoriously very good around Sheffield. Auty and Garrity will provide entertainment. I think this match could come down to which top 3 scores the most points. If Sheffield then I can see a 10-12 point win; Scunthorpe then it could be very close. Could be the right time for Scunthorpe to visit with only 1 team meeting run this year. Nice weather - at last!! Should be a cracker.
  6. Its a difficult one; I was thinking about continuity and accommodating the top 5 from last year. I do think that team would be unbeatable again at home. Im pretty sure they would pick up a few wins on the road too. Its probably irrelevant as It sounds like Grajczonek wont be back anyway. I reckon Josh Bates will progress further next year. He needs to calm down a little bit though as he misses too many meetings through injury.
  7. Would love to see the majority of last years team back. Not 100% sure this fits but quick look at the averages and came up with.... Grajczonek Kurtz Bjerre Bates Howarth Wood New 2 pointer I hope Grajczonek does come back; he was awesome last season. Think this team would go far again. Unlikely to lose at home due to the fire power of the top 5. Would also be strong away to put in a good rider when 6 pts down. Maybe weaker at reserve than majority of other teams. Georgie Wood came on leaps and bounds towards the end of last season.
  8. I thought that to be the case. Most likely irrelevant as Sheffield are in a different league (as it stands). Damien Bates is a very wealthy business man and he is only one of three promoters at Sheffield. Not to mention he is the owner of Leicester too. He clearly doesn't do his research very well.
  9. What a fantastic result for us Yorkshire Tigers; really didn't expect anything out of this meeting when Bjerre was ruled out. Whilst I'm loving the winning run we are on (must be a record for us) no silverware has been won as of yet. We all know the playoffs can produce surprises like we did last year to get to the final. I'm sure Glasgow will come again; very powerful side when all on it and Ipswich will be a very hard team to beat over 2 legs. Never count out Edinburgh neither. Should be an entertaining playoffs; hope above all that all teams involved have their No.s 1 to 7 available and may the best team win when it counts.
  10. Bates IS a big miss for Sheffield tonight. Last 2 visits to Glasgow he got 14+2 at reserve for Somerset and 9 at number 2, 11 days after the first. He beat everyone of Glasgow's big hitters with the exception of Lawson over the 2 meetings. He has been much improved this year IMO, not as erratic and more consistent. Don't think Sheffield would have won with Bates but maybe sneaked a point!
  11. First visit to Scunny for a couple of years. Great win for Sheffield albeit against a team that will have better days. Having said that I think it was a very professional performance from the Tigers; much quicker out of the gate. Not the best meeting I've seen at Scunny but the racing got better later on. Howarth has really stepped it up this year and was in a class of his own. Very quick out of the gate and attacked the track to clear off each time. Grajczonek was also quick when he switched to the outside; got caught napping twice on the inside. Think we have a 1 & 5 that can rival any in the league. Bates was impressive tonight; quick and attacked the outside, maybe filled his pants in heat 7 but saved it well to complete the 5 - 1. Bjerre was solid and is a great back up to Kyle and Josh G. As said in a previous post Kurtz and Branford will have better days. Thanks to Rob Shuttleworth too! For Scunny Josh Auty was not what I have seen in the past; normally flying but hardly got anywhere close today. Palm Toft was quick but terrible out of the start. When you have a 1 & 5 who can't gate your up against it - even at a great track like Scunthorpe. Kerr and Wilko had their moments as did BWD. BWD was quick 1 race then slow another. Young Josh Bailey is getting better but still inconsistent. Think he will develop into a tidy little rider. I expect the Scorpions to be a different proposition next time the Tigers visit in June. Look forward to it - I'll be there again. Have to commend the Scunthorpe promotion. A great day out; small playground for the little 1's and always try to deliver a great race strip. Not the greatest meeting tonight but still better than some other tracks.
  12. Sorry mate; took it as a snipe. Too much of that s**t on this forum so I just took the bait; long week!! All good 👍
  13. No I just imagined it. What's up can't think for yourself?
  14. Don't think many do like him to be honest. Him and Garrity in Heat 13 and potentially 15's. Think what you want about them; they are entertainers. Great if they are your teams rider, but hated if not.
  15. As I say i just missed the start so didn't see that bit. Have seen the vid myself now and agree Barker does nothing wrong. Wonder what Howarth and Bjerres problem was then after the race? Words definitely were had both on the track and going back into the pits. Mind you so did Kurtz earlier on.
  16. I don't think Barker touched Kurtz either. I am suprised nobody has mentioned the last race when Barker apparently deliberately kept straight on to block Bjerre from the gate (I didn't see that bit was told) Bjerre somehow managed to switch quickly and was inside Barker before bend 2. At the end of the race Howarth and Bjerre rode either side of Barker and clearly let him know what they thought of him which spilled over into the pits.
  17. I might be wrong but isn't both Brady and Todd part of the Drillerman team? Brady is a steal on that average. 2015 he was awesome around Owlerton. I think; based on what Bates has said that Steady will be retiring. Sounds like team plans are well on the way to be finalised. Would love to see Steady fly round Owlerton for 1 more season; however I think it probably would be best for him to call it a day. since he came back has he finished a season Without being injured once? On another point; I know Garrity has his issues but he is box office. I have spoke to many supporters and agree he provides the entertainment required to pull the crowds in. IMO big mistake to let him go. Saying that Sheffields recent problems have been putting together a good team but riders who are injury prone and Garrity will probably always be 1 of them riders.
  18. Whether we want him back or not; with his family connections he won't be going anywhere.. I do think he could and should at least up his average to 6.5+ next year. Saying that I thought that this year.
  19. Hope the limit stays the same for 2017. First and foremost the track needs sorting out; racing entertainment has been poor this year. From Steadys interview I reckon he will be hanging up his kevlars and to be fair who can blame him with the injuries he has had. He's provided fantastic entertainment at Owlerton and elsewhere over the years and I wish him well for the future. Definitely one of the best riders I have ever seen around Owlerton. Maybe Sheffield will make the step up to the Elite? Although I hope they stay Premier league as long as the points limit isn't diluted. Looked through the averages and the team I would love to see is: 1.Grajczonek 2.Bates 3.Howarth 4.L.Bjerre 5.Garrity 6.J.Smith 7.JPB That's if they come under the 42.5 limit. Sounds like Howarth and Bates are going to be back and I would have thought JPB is nailed on too.. Maybe a risk at reserve having 2, 3pt riders but they have rode with each other all year with great results and are improving all the time. The top 5 should all at least maintain and improve there averages. Sure I'll be way off though.
  20. Well that's going to happen isn't it? Somerset 2 guests at 6 and 7 and Sheffield 2 guests for Garrity and Stead! You never know; 1 of them might just return!
  21. Agree you Scottish Tigers might well have made it closer if luck had gone your way. Take it from me the clock on the back straight is nothing to go by! It has shown 0 enough times this season while riders are still sat on bike at the gate.. On another night had Sheffield been at full strength; Glasgow would have been smashed out of sight tonight!! All if buts and maybes!! Glasgow should get through to the final but never say never!! Newcastle were home and dry in my and most people's book in the quarter final! If it is the end for Sheffield; please promotion, first and foremost for next year, sort the track out!! The racing has been terrible this year which is worry. The crowd has got gradually less as the year has gone on. Discounting Steadys move in the PLRC final and Garrity keeping Lambert behind him brilliantly for 4 laps I can't think of much else to talk about..
  22. I'm not 100% sure about Coventry. Quite possibly though. Im sure a statement will follow soon.
  23. Of course; I do think the promotion needs to stop all the rumours. If you read the program, it says it all by saying we (the promotion have decided to not use Garrity for the rest of the season) forgive me I haven't got the program to hand for the exact words. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work it out. Shame as he is/was a fan favourite. However Jason will be Jason.
  24. I doubt it's anything to do with the rule book Sheffield are considerably weaker without Garrity. I'm sure more will follow from the promotion soon as to the details of what is what. All I can say is I heard different stories and 1 is definitely true.
