Ipswich v Sheffield play off final 1st leg
yorkshiretyke replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
But so did Sheffield have to go to Peterborough (twice) after them strengthening - and lost twice. We all agree, speedway in this country is a complete shambles, but i don't think Sheffield had much choice in what they have done, certainly no different to what other teams would do if they can/could. This is a forum and people will defend/criticize their own and or others - its life. -

Ipswich v Sheffield play off final 1st leg
yorkshiretyke replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
But yet, the only reason why Ipswich are even in the final is due to a Peterborough team (that made as many, if not more changes than Sheffield) winning an unlikely tie on aggregate against Leicester after improving their team massively. But of course, that was all fine!! Sheffield made changes when certain riders were underperforming, Ipswich didn't despite many fans calling for King (at that point) and Riss to go. Are Sheffield any stronger with guests than with Tai and Tobi, not on paper but could be. Are they any stronger than the first team put together, not really. It is what it is!! Lets just hope for a great close final and may the best team win! -

Ipswich v Sheffield 21st July
yorkshiretyke replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Pretty sure he rode well last year at Ipswich. Agree with most though, it's pretty obvious he doesn't like Foxhall and will try and avoid it for whatever reason. Can only see Ipswich by 12+ tonight. -
I'm pretty sure this forum is set up to allow the little muppets to have a field day. Same old bollox on this thread as the Premiership final thread of which 80% of it is filled up with sh*te from the same to$$ers. Sat behind their desk all day, one hand on keyboard, other in their pants baiting others. Cant even read through these threads these days without the little maggots spouting irrelevant sh*t. MODS sort your sh*t out and do most of us a favour!!!

Sheffield vs Belle Vue 2/9/21
yorkshiretyke replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Agreed, 2 meetings in a row now, the racing has been abysmal. Always better racing when the track is not prepared for fast times. Great result considering no Nielsen but apart from that, borefest. Sort the track out!!! -

Ye, some things never change in British Speedway. Same as the usual wining B*tches down Suffolk way -
Bang on!! I don't think there will be much in it for Swindon and Sheffield. Me personally, I would say Graj over Jensen due to Josh having Owlerton as his home track and think he will increase his average because of that. But definitely not much in it. You could argue either way for any of the match ups above. However, wouldn't be surprised at all if Sheffield comfortably beat Swindon at home and vice versa. Cant wait!
-
Very happy with the team put together for our first season back in the Prem. Built to be very strong at home and can see us doing well at other similar fast racks like Peterborough, Kings Lynn etc... See how some fans of other teams are sniping already... let us Sheffield fans worry about our team which I'm sure 95% are delighted with. Amazing how we look 'average' when none of the others have completed their teams as yet to compare to? Swindon are almost complete and look very strong again. I would still fancy our chances against them at home. New league, new start and back to Thursday night racing. Cant wait for March to arrive.

Cant see it being either of Lawson or Allen. Whilst i would love to see Allen at Sheffield, it has been quoted that we have 6.91 to play with and Allen is only 5.56. Dont think Ash Morris would have been signed if we are not going to use most of the points available (thats if it is 6.91). What average is Mikkel Bech?
-
The trouble with Auty is; and always has been his gating. He can get away with it in the Championship to a degree but in the Premiership; 9 times out of 10 he will be last into the first bend leaving him too much to do. Berge is the best of the mentioned riders at Owlerton by a fair distance, but probably the worst away. With the exception of last season, Wells is the most consistant on all types of tracks. Lots of options for the final 2, wonder if someone not mentioned yet may get 1 of them. Is Kurtz a 4 or 3.39? Seems to be an uncertainty of the averages of some riders.
-
I would guess Todd Kurtz... Although i think Todd has been a great 2nd string for us in the Championship, i think he would struggle in the Premiership; although would be delighted to be proved wrong. Looking at the points we have left, i would like to see Nick Morris, Berge and Wells.. All more than capable of increasing their average considerably. At home Berge at reserve will pile the points up, Wells is a steal on a 4 in the hope that last season was a blip. Nick Morris is much better than his average suggests.

I dont think it will matter, if the rules stay the same then Sheffield will not be in this league next year because Sunday racing will not happen again regularly. Its been financial suicide and the racing has been poor. The Sheffield team put together at the start of the year were favourites in many peoples predictions. Unfortunately the predicted improvement of some riders didn't happen as expected. Dont get the calls that Kurtz should have been retained, he was not going to improve his average from last year and to be successful you need riders to do just that. Hes pretty decent at home, however he is poor away at many tracks, always has been. Nothing against him he is good at home but having seen him away from home many times he is no better than some reserves. Now his average has dropped again since being at Somerset he could be worth a place.
-
At this moment in time, Nicol is the better rider. Just before he got injured he was top scoring as guest and beating some good riders on their own tracks. Kemp will get there for sure but right now, Nicol makes Sheffield stronger, particularly on smaller tracks and being at reserve.
-
Mentioned about this very scenario last week (previous page) when I heard Broc was nearing fitness. Personally; I would have replaced Kennedy rather than Kemp as up to the previous match at Somerset; Kennedy has struggled more away from home; and he has been at reserve the majority of the season. If Nicol picks up where he left off; then the change is a no brainer, especially with the remaining tracks we need to visit. Would have thought Kemp would score better at Edinburgh and Eastbourne than Kennedy. Sorry to see Kemp go and hope he gets fixed up very soon.

Rebells v Tigers 21/8 /19
yorkshiretyke replied to Fred5's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Following the updates, it appears the Tigers are gifting Somerset the win and a playoff place to boot! 3 tape exclusions from the senior 3 riders and Sedgman not getting off the start. Hope im proved wrong but sums up our season away from home. -
Agree, although Kennedy has been very poor away from Sheffield. Bearing in mind the remaining fixtures away from home (small technical) tracks; Nicol is much more likely to score heavily than those 2 combined. I know its only a slim chance of making the playoffs but if he can be fitted in for one of those two, it gives us a better chance.
