Yes as I said there are some others, but I dont think Ben Howe is one. He certainly lived in Crawley from around 1993 and Billy Saunders lived at Hadleigh about 10 miles from town.
-
Interesting........ wonder if any other team can come up with a like team. Plus we havnt mentioned Leigh Lanham,Savalas and a couple more. Certainly Peter Moore and possibly Ray Cresp in the other team.

Always enjoyed my visits to Station Rd. There was a nice fish and chip shop just across the road. Much better than the stadium caterers , although as I remember their pies and pasties wernt too bad.! For £1 you could drive your car round to the back straight and if it was cold, just get out to watch the races. Saw a nasty coming together between Ronnie Corry and Ben Howe coming out of the second bend. Dont think there was any blame attached but Ben ended up in the local hospital. Will there ever be Speedway there again.?

Bert Edwards rode round at Foxhall a couple of years ago. Along with Ken Last Tich Read and a few others but they were on the back of a truck. From what Bert said he wanted to go round on a bike but his wife said she would leave him if he did.!!!

For Wimbledon he stood out in a strong team.. not an easy thing to to in the same team as Ronnie Moore, Ron Howe Bob Andrews Cyril Brien etc.. Always regarded as an exciting rider who gave full value all the time.

You have to be tough in Australian jails...most of the inmates are called Bruce. or Julian!! No.... Im shakin!!!
-
Everyone is entitled to their opinions...... apart form the obviouse riders that DID appear and have already been "shot down"..... the nomination of Gary Guglielmi and most of the rest IMO were nowhere near world final class. GGs nomination is almost laughable.

Both are regulars in Speedway Star Classified ads...N Barber, 31 Fairfield Av ,Felixstowe IP11 9JQ.....P Holtom ,15 Bayham Walk, Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent ST2 8PB.

Jamie Luckhurst was signed by Ipswich and hailed as "star". Trouble was he never shon!!!
-
I saw Ron Johnston (I know not even spelt the same!) come 5th at Wembley 1960.
-
Everyone has their own particular favorites, but I dont really think there can be any arguement with Bobby Schwartz. The fact that he never made it may be down to the system the Americans use to qualify.
-
Its riders who have NOT appeared
-
Cyril Smith with Gracie Fields second!!!

Are we talking about the same Bo Petersen ?
-
so did Donkey.
-
Thats him.. world team cup on at least four occasions. Winning it once.
-
Yes,Bo Petersen scored 9pts at Gothenburg in the 1984 final. Ther is one particular US rider who had a very high profile that no-one has mentioned.
-
Yes I remember Turf cigaretts and the cards printed on the inside of the sleve. Alan Kidd the captain of Poole Pirates smokes Players Weights , as seen on the TV advert. Best wishes from Boxer123

We had this one on Witches forum.I wont spoil it by saying who "won". My nominations were Tony Davey, Arne Pander and Bobby Ott. The winner was someone else!
-
.Chris Louis and Mark Loram at their peak. Tomasz Gollob,Mike Broadbanks, Bobby Ott. Ben Howe in his early days. and on wet tracks Ray Cresp was one of the best.
-
Jack Unstead would go thro gaps that were not there, regardless. Unfortunately I was at Foxhall the night he got killed. Tony Childs was "warned off" after he "speared" a couple of juniors in after meeting races at Ipswich in the 90s. Tomaz Gollob in his heydays at Ipswich would not give an inch to anyone.I saw him and Chris Louis ,I think, get a 5-1 to win the meeting at Arlington, dispite the fact the Eastbourn starter kicked the support pole (no pun intended) from the tapes infront of him so he had to ride over that. He still came back to get the 5-1.
-
...... and have any Speedway riders been used in TV adds since
-
Who was the Poole rider that advertised "Players Weights" in the TV commercial around 1960?
