  1. Nice one thanks for that. So do I need a smart tv to enable me to ue one of those boxes, or do I just use HDMI lead? cheers in advance.
  2. That pretty much sums it up, something had to give, once the contact was made as they exited the 4th turn there was a certain inevitability that one or the other would end up on the deck. Just think, if things had turned out different the discussion could have been whether or not Les Collins should be lumped together with Jerzy & Egon as 'unworthy' champions. There are flaws in both the old and the GP systems, I don't have a preference either way, I just like to see decent racing whatever the format.
  3. I've no problem with what Penhall said about Carter, I had no time for either of them back in the day, one was from the wrong side of the Pennines and the other was a showy Yank, neither were well received at Hyde Road around that time as I recall. I think the reason for the harboured bad feeling towards Penhall is because it all just ended so abruptly, by the time of that White City meeting he had already started messing Cradley about. I was there that day and the way he trundled round pulling wheelies was an insult too far, it was good riddance from then on, I don't recall any farewell meetings being arranged, he was gone. I suppose if he had carried on riding for a few more years he would possibly have redeemed himself in the eyes of most, but he didn't, so left us all with a sour taste. I'd go as far as to say he has gone a long way to redeeming himself in my eyes, just for having the balls to say in print how it is/was with Carter, good on you Bruce. There will be many examples Colin but at that time Penhall just played himself into the villain of the piece, he was pulling wheelies, have you seen the video? That was one of his final meetings in the UK and he left us all with bad impression, he should have just pulled on to the centre green but he decided to showboat.
  4. No need to lip read, Pedersen pretty much gave the same account of what was said, he just dressed it up differently, surely you can agree on that. Masters was foolish for allowing himself to be goaded but the whole incident just added to what was a thoroughly entertaining end to the GP season..
  5. He's just a bloke doing his job very well, there's nothing sinister about him as some seem to be suggesting. Yes he is overly aware of his commitment to his sponsors, he's also typically Californian and plays the nice guy to a tee. No need for some of the negativity towards him shown here, he deserves all the plaudits for racing competitively at such an age, you don't have to like him to admire his achievements.
  6. Leave it out, it's the anthem he will have sung as kid through school, I just knew someone would have a pop about that.
  7. I take it you've never been self employed then? Surely doctors will always exercise caution but the rider knows his own body best. Take your point about the way the safety card is sometimes played but on this occasion I can't fault the lad for wanting to give it a go, here's hoping he comes through unscathed.
  8. So Matt had a beard? I thought it was more like stubble when he was in Wham. Nothing dodgy but there was Odd Fossengen, they also had a Shuter iirc.
  9. You're like a stuck record pal, give it a rest eh, go and give Tai a bashing on another thread. Glad you got that off your chest, bet your mates were buzzing when you turned up at the pub. I watched that race, the best I have ever seen, home advantage counted for not much at Hyde Rd imo, Michanek was on Bernie Leigh's bike and PC was operating clutch and throttle with the same hand, these factors made it the most even race imaginable, they could not be split for 4 laps and, as you know, Peter snatched it on the line. There has to be a way of ending it on the night of the 2nd leg, it's not often we are blessed with the weather we've had over the last week or so. Congrats to Poole on the win, all looks good for the future of Belle Vue, happy days.
  10. As it's the last meeting of the season I'd like to thank the folk who have provided the racecards all season, very much appreciated.
  11. Bang on the money there Sidney, it's all about the reserves upping their game after Monday's showing, I'm sure they will both be up for it and I can see the Aces pushing them all the way, here's hoping anyway.
  12. Why are you shouting? Have a great trip, here's hoping for an Aces triumph.
  13. Agree with that 100%, he did win the points fair & square. Hopefully tonight's meeting will be decided by more than 2 points on aggregate and we can put this to bed, yes it's filled the pages for 2 days but it was just an example of a rider so fired up to get the win for his team that he would have rode that race whatever item of his protective wear had malfunctioned. If the Belle Vue 1-7 show that kind of passion tonight then I'll be happy enough.
  14. That's it then, £500 fine for Newman and all his points wiped from the meeting, surely, anything...
  15. You already gave yourself a pat on the back a couple of pages ago, stop milking it
  16. Wait a minute, did Kelv actually think Garrity had to go 15 metres?
  17. Not World Champions though eh If I were Robert72 I'd be considering sliding away back into oblivion, then perhaps resurfacing in a couple of months with a completely new attitude towards other forum users. Nobody likes a smartarse Robert, fair play to you if you got astride a speedway bike and gave it a go but, let's face it, you didn't really do any more than me or plenty of others would have done if given the opportunity, in fact I'm sure I've seen SCB post that he's had a slide or 2 in the past. Anyway, what do have against Tai, he's clearly upset you at some point.
  18. I backed Belle Vue to win the title before a wheel turned, they were 5/1 and were still @ 5/1 prior to last nights meeting, 13/8 now.
  19. Agreed, I'm 20 miles west of the stadium and we've just had a light shower, hard to tell which way it's travelling. My feeling is that it will be ok, I get headaches when there's a lot of rain about and so far I'm ok, fingers crossed.
  20. No rain due until 23.00 as it stands, so yes it's on, then again we are talking about the Rainy City, so buyer beware..
  21. That's the thing, how old are some of the folk making the idiotic remarks? It becomes embarrassing to read when the majority of members just want to read/post sensible comments. 'Tossiter' is funny once, I mean would you really continue using it in actual conversation, I don't think so. I certainly would not like to be in the company of some on here who appear to be adults apart from their posting style. Anyway, back on topic, here's hoping we get a decent meeting tonight, both teams giving it everything and Belle Vue finishing with a 12+point lead to take to the Abbey.
  22. Not at all, he had every right to give it a go on Saturday, home GP, points needed to try and consolidate a rostrum place come the end of the series. I'd much rather he find out whether or not he's match fit and Saturday night proved he isn't. If he'd discovered that he is below par tonight on the tight BV track it could have cost us dearly.
  23. Is this a quiz? I can't remember what he said, was it about knockers?
