Berwick V Workington (lc) Saturday, May 2
Normski replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Since returning to watch speedway again in 2010 Saturdays crowd especially against Workington was one of the worst i have seen. Where do all the former fans go on a Saturday night, Berwick is a small town with about 18 pubs and 2 nightclubs although a lot of our current support comes from outside the town. Its not as if we face competition on a Saturday night from other attractions such as Ice Hockey, Basketball, Ten pin bowling or a big cinema complex or an arena that hosts concerts with popular bands etc. Being situated where we are on the map apart from the usual suspects Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle we are not getting hordes of away fans turning up to meetings anymore. As for the track as long as there is football there, the shape will never change and no people dont want to watch gate and go every week but as was proved in the under 21 meeting, when the track is prepared to the standard it was that night it can provide good racing. Hopefully when the better weather comes we might get a few more bodies through the turnstiles.Lets hope this Saturday we can get back to winning ways and put together a nice little cup run. -
In the black n gold on Saturday past the bbsc presented all the riders with a cheque to help them out. Also financial help was given to Kevin, ,Alex, and Claus towards some hefty repair bills. I'm sure once Richard has settled in he will also get a presentation off the bbsc. As you should know both the bbsc and 2012 Group are there to help and back the riders.

2012 Group came about due to Lee Complin asking for sponsorship for the 2012 season, a group of fans although not financially rich decided to get together and put in a small affordable amount each month into a account from their own pockets to help. This group of fans decided that it would be benificial to help all the team with what little money was available. The first 2 seasons Lee, then in 2013 Ricky were the main benefactors with the rest of the team receiving a token amount, until last season when all the riders received the same. Also after Ricky's tragic accident the group played a big part in rasing funds for him to the tune of over £15.000 due to the sale of wristbands which was speeded up with the support of the promotion. As regards f**k the club attitude, when ever the group has been approached regarding sponsorship for big meetings we have whenever possible always supported the request, e.g., sponsoring Fence Fund, heats for Ben Fund, under 21's GP meetings etc. Finally the 2012 Group are in no way in competition with the BSC although as already mentioned some group members are on the BSC Committee. Although both seperate groups, the goals are the same

Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
Normski replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not just the fans, the riders need to go there on friday believing they can get a decent result as often they are beaten before a race is started. Wethers at reserve could have a big influence in how close a result we get although to be fair Alex had a decent meeting last time he was there albeit as a guest. Im hoping for a decent performance at the Dale then turn them over at Berwick on Saturday -

yeah i have been and we won with a lot of so called big track riders Complin, Alden, Franc, Smith, Lindgren, Mudgway, Davey.the Berwick team now have riders with a lot of smaller track experience behind them. hence my confidence in an away win tonight. -

No meeting at Berwick this Saturday or the 14th June, if or when we get past Sheffield in the cup we are then having to fit in 3 home meetings Worky, Scunny, and a cup match with the Monarchs. Going to be a long season. -
going by Berwicks fixtures they are at Edinburgh on Friday June 6th in PL KOC match if they see off Sheffield

can remember going on a southern tour in 1987 with Berwick, all the riders and fans were in the same hotel all took some cans to Rob Woffindens room to discover his bike in the middle of the room.

spoke to Razor in Black n Gold, only because it was a cup match that he made the switch replacing Liam with Steen which turned out to be a good decision. -

cheers Paulco for that i knew he had a high average for Plymouth before he got injured, was not sure if riding for Wolves would affect it, So Mr Stead will now be getting 6 rides tonight, gave an absolute master class last season on how to ride Shielfield could be a close meeting now,
