  1. Not the greatest viewing I agree. I did hear that plans to install temporary seating on the new 1st turn were knocked back due to health and safety reasons. After visiting Torun last month (15,00 capacity, all seated covered stadium provided by the council) I did think about asking West Lothian Council to build something similar for the Monarchs - would I be wasting my time?
  2. Problem is that the M8 will be very busy at 4pm with Hibs fans going home? Well it was last year
  3. Sunny now in Livvy Paulco I've no doubt that Glasgow had the fire brigade working overtime last night flooding the track to save you from a heavy defeat Being serious for once, while it's always disappointing to have a meeting called off, it's good to see that an early decision was made.
  4. Plans are afoot to make the bends right handed for next year
  5. Sunny but freezing wind in Livingston, I suppose that I could wrap up well but the Paulco/george.m approach of simply drinking enough to not notice the cold seems a far more attractive opposition! Looking forward to a decent meeting tonight with a 10 point win for the Monarchs
  6. I'm just amazed to hear that Schramm fell off!!!
  7. Indeed George, I'm sure none of us will accuse you of a sun-off with snow lying about But seriously, it's a real bummer that both our opening meetings are off with everyone geared up to go. Tigers have had some good publicity and hopefully any newcomers will try again next week. But what can anyone do when last March was 20 degrees and this March is minus 20 degrees? Fingers crossed for a milder week ahead and we get lift off next Friday/Sunday at our respective tracks
  8. Video night on 14th Dec - I expect our all conquering team to be announced then!!
  9. Just home after a wet drive through Armadale, very heavy rain about 6.30pm killed any chance of racing tonight
  10. Well done to Newcastle on finishing top of the League - If any other team win the play offs it will be a hollow victory - unless of course it is the Monarchs when I reserve the right to open the best malt and king eddie cigars!! I've never agreed with play-offs in any form of league sport - it simply favours the strongest team over a few meetings - leagues should be won over a season. It's often said that a lucky team can win a cup but only the best team over a season will win the league. Still with speedway in such a mess i can't deny the possible financial gain to the play off clubs - still don't like it though!
  11. My ramblings from the Chatzone without any personal abuse to posters like Ipswich Jules And they say that cheats don't prosper eh? Not a great deal of good racing tonight on a slick slippy track after all the recent rain but the controversy more than made up for it. Ipswich looked really decent, every rider either won or looked like winning a race but their antics left a sour taste in the mouth. I can understand why Tressarieu and Tungate stayed down in consecutive heats to get a re-run when on a 5-1 against - every team does it! Surely the rules need changing here - why not make the remaining rider go off 15m if his team-mate is excluded when on a 1-5? Poole got away with murder in heat 7 when he turned right causing the Monarchs to do an emergency stop - every bit as bad as when Derek locked up and was excluded. But for Risager to actually knock off Derek in heat 10 on the last bend and get away with it was unreal, I can only imagine the ref didn't see it!! Good win for Monarchs in the end with Summers outstanding, hopefully we'll clinch that 6th place! After last Fridays's processions at least we have something to talk about!
  12. £10 for a programme???? My entire weekend in Poland for a GP isn't much more - I went to Cardiff once, was excellent but everything was so overpriced ( hotel, ticket, entry to sheepland, parking, DRINK) I have no intention of going back. Cue mean Scot remarks
  13. That would be the people in the stand Shadders lol
  14. or in the Shielfield stand? lol - couldn't resist B4e
  15. Well Done Gollob after so many years of trying, there may be a few drunk Poles in Italy and elsewhere tonight!
  16. Wayne is Barry's brother and I well remember seeing him raing for the Monarchs at Old Meadowbank in the sixties. He seemed to have a lot of bad luck with injuries.
  17. Kevin was in Poland today, next speedway is Wednesday at KL according to his diary. http://www.woelbert-racing.de/40600.html
  18. Probably CID in case they legged it with the Trophy? Sorry chaps couldn't resist!
  19. Ah I see, your spade is broken so change the subject? OK then, quiz time - who are the only home nation to QUALIFY for 5 World Cups in a row? Q2 - When did England last beat France home and away in competitive games? First prize - a day out at the Scottish Speedway Museum, 2nd prize - a house in Wolverhampton Post edited cos I looked at your profile and saw your profession!!! I didn't mean any of the above - honest!!! lol
  20. Holiday? been working my butt off over here, painting and things!
  21. Indeed 1314, nice to see the Monarchs taught him so well!!
  22. While you are at B&Q I suggest you purchase a spade so that you can dig yourself out of the hole you appear to be in.
  23. Can't help but agree - well that's probably the easiest option!!
  24. Team GB today represented Great Britain as I believe that the individual countries of Great Britain are not members of the FIM but GB is. There is no English leagues in GB, just British ones. England did not enter the SWC. There were indeed 5 Englishmen in the team today (or 3 plus a Cornishman and an Aussie if you believe some of the posts on here) but any GB rider can ride for the team. Without checking were Willie Lawson and Andy Tully not in the GB under 21 squad? To confirm your geographical understanding, Glasgow is indeed in Scotland (though as a Monarch I am campaigning to move it south for a few hundred miles ), Cardiff is in Wales and equally so, London is in England. To explain further - Scotland, England and Wales are all part of Great Britain hence the use of the Union Jack/Flag (there's a wee clue in the make up of the flag)for Team GB. Do you remember the winter Olympics a few years ago when 4 Scottish women won the gold medal - they were Scottish but were representing GB - GB won the gold medal - not Scotland! Finally - you did not speak to a SCOTCHMAN, but a Scotsman - Scotch is what we drink - in small quantities of course! I trust that this explanation assists you!
