I would have thought that those who have Nikki in their team (me included) would have picked up the points of whoever replaces him in this meeting. Seems only fair to me. Sayfutdinov as captain for this meeting please. -

Why do we always hear that we should be more tolerant and accomodate the idiots and the drunks, why not a little less tolerant and tell "the minority" that they either behave like civil human beings and respect other people's entitlement to enjoy themselves. If they can't act more civil then I say let's be more intolerant and lock them out. -

I don't know about Scott, I would have thought Emil heard the bells. Scott maybe having a tough time on the bike at the moment, but there ain't nothing wrong with his right hook!! -

I'm sorry, but you expect to get drunks in a pub (the number normally depends on the type of pub) or on a drink yourself rubbishless holiday, but you don't expect to have to put up with it at a major sporting event which has cost a small fortune to get into. Perhaps instead of putting the families in a special area next year they could put sawdust down on part of the terracing and corral all the drunks their own area. Probably because they didn't buy the cigarettes in the stadium......... -
Alcohol At Cardiff

If you like a drink that's fine and no one on here seems to be saying that people can't drink. The problem at Cardiff is that a minority of people don't seem to be able to hold the amount they drink and get out of control. Then there are others who have a problem and think drunken oblivion is a way of life. We all like a drink and we drink to have fun, but its the sad drunks who become aggressive and impose themselves on others and ruin everyone else's fun, those are the ones the GP authorities need to control. Next year it should be no drinking in the seating area, introduce family areas where anyone under the influence of alcohol (and I don't mean just because someone has had a drink before coming to the stadium) should not be admitted to these areas and those obviously excessively drunk should not be admitted to the stadium. They need to take action now before we have crowd problems at Cardiff; end up with a major crowd problem and then see how quickly the press get interested in Speedway! -

Went to the Cardiff GP a few years ago and swore I would never go back, as the whole evening was ruined by people who justed seemed to be there to get drunk rather than watch the speedway. Going into the stadium the thugs on the doors took any kind of drink off people, even water (not sure if this still happens), and they were abusive to anyone who protested. I could maybe of understood the alchol as I thought there might be no drinking in the stadium, but why the water! Anyway, when we got in it was evident that the objective of the exercise was just to get people to buy the overpriced slop they served in the bars. We then spent the rest of the night getting up for people to go and buy booze at the bar and then for them to keep constantly going the toilet. We got beer spilled on us as the the drunks got progressively more unsteady on their feet and we had to sit with our feet soaked in beer as it cascaded down the terracing. Was it worth over € 50 a ticket + cost of the trip to Cardiff, you must be joking. Since then we take turns to throw a British GP party, have a few drinks with friends, watch the action on the TV, lots to eat (barbie when the weather allows) and have a great time. Party with a group of friends who know how to hold their beer (great), a really good atmosphere with a bit of betting on the side and lots of good natured banter (excellent) and not having to put up with the Cardiff GP drunks (priceless). The Sky coverage was excellent last night and a fantastic track at long last made the racing what it should be at every GP. I know watching on TV was not as good as seeing the racing live and feeling the electric atmosphere of a great meeting, especially when the racing was top class, but frankly the Cardiff experience is just not worth the hassle. Been there, got the teeshirt and frankly don't think it's worth going back. -

QUOTE (Rob B @ May 30 2009, 11:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As I said in other thread feel tiny bit sorry for Pedersen as think Emil was at fault BUT Pedersen is the grandmaster of doing the move you described, looking over when being pased then moving in on the rider to make contact then fall off, he has done it so many times. I wouldn't disagree, but even if Nicki invented the tactic it doesn't make it right. I would think the same about this incident whether it was NP or another rider; I am not much of a Nicki fan anyway, but not a member of the hate club either. It just annoys me when ref's allow themselves to be conned by such blatantly obvious moves. -

Some people need to remove their blinkers before watching the next GP. NP has been to blame for some very agressive tactics in the past and, as has been said, he might be suffering for his past reputation. But these new tactics of riders allowing their front wheel to be touched and then going down, when they could have avoided the contact, is to my mind tantamount to cheating. NP had clearly passed Emil and was on the racing line, Emil didn't give way but leaned in to fool the ref and went down, making sure he got his back wheel in NP's racing line. -
Yet again we see a Grand Prix decided by a totally ludicrous exclusion. Nicki was sailing past Emil and yet the rider behind moves over into the rider going past, allowing his front wheel to be touched by the rear wheel of the passing rider. It was obvious that Emil saw Nicki coming up to him, he clearly looked over at him twice before the incident, and was going to go past, so he leans in towards him to try and fool the ref (not difficult with this particular ref). Nicki's move was not overly agressive, as we have seen from NP in the past, he was simply moving through on the inside due to having the greater speed. Surely if a rider sees another coming up with greater speed he either legitimately moves onto the racing line to block him, causing the oncoming guy to shut off or he moves out wider. Surely, you don't wait for the rider to have gone past and then try and move onto his racing line. Time and again riders are going down when just the leading edge of their front wheel is being touched, surely by that time the rider being past could and should have been able to move out a bit wider to avoid the bikes touching. If this goes on it will reduce the amount of passing and cut-down on the quality of the racing. God knows, with these awful man-made tracks we are already in danger of seeing the GPs reduced to a lottery. Hard luck Nicki you should have won that GP.........enjoy your holiday!!

Well if these "new" speedway viewers didn't know that Sayfutdinov was 19, they sure as hell do now!! I can accept a commentator repeating something during a two and a half hour programme, but if he is going to do it at least phrase it in a different way. To just constantly repeat the same statement was downright annoying and tended to distract from the enjoyment of the Sky presentation. It has often been said on here, that commentating is not easy and they are all prone to tripping over their tongues in the heat of the action. Blimey, we all get foreign riders names wrong from time to time. But the most common fault TM makes for me, is to totally mix up the riders and announce such and such a rider to be in the lead, when half the time he is probably at the back. Getting the riders names and their helmet colours right is a basic for any commentator. For god sake there are only four to remember, it's not like having to remember 22 players and their numbers or being able to recognise the colours of 20 jockeys in a race. The only explanation I can think of for these constant mix-ups is that old TM must be colour blind!! I think Sky ought to check this out...... -

If you think the FIM will have the guts to remove this clown from the Latvian and German Grand Prix, then you are deluded. This is not the first time he has officiated at a GP meeting and made a complete hash of it and it will probably not be the last. It is not just a shame on the FIM, but if this is the best ref Poland can put forward then they should also hang their heads in shame. There must be a better ref in Poland somewhere, one who understands the basic rule that if you touch the tapes you're out! I was gutted for Adams and BJ, they have invested substantial amounts of time, effort and money to be in the GP and then this joker comes along and ruins any chance they have of furthering their chances in the standings. I put no blame on Nicki, and I was sorry to hear him bearing booed at the end, as he simply took advantage of the second chances given him. However, if we are not careful a new tactic could start up, if you miss the start cut across the track and run into the back of the guy who made the gate. Get a rider excluded and get another chance to make the gate. Last night was filled with great racing, but it could have been better except for the Polish Joker in the box. FIM you know what you have to do........!! -

Sky's Coverage...
Brummie Boy replied to Firestorm's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Got to agree, I thought the Sky coverage was appalling. The lack of build up meant the whole programme was very flat and it was without a doubt the worst Sky Grand Prix presentation of the year. Would have thought that with the GP being presented as the "richest minute in motorsport" they could have made more of an effort. In fact, it wasn't only Sky that failed with this event. Surely the track with its total lack of good racing lines made the whole thing a lottery and a complete farce. If this is the best speedway and Sky can do when a $100k is on offer, then perhaps they don't deserve this sort of sponsership. -
We now know 11 of next year's GP riders and I reckon we could all take a guess at who three of the four wildcards will be: Andreas Jonsson - Sweden need at least one representative and he it deserves from SOME of his GP results this year. Could have probably done better except for some bad luck with injuries. Chris Harris - the only rider to challenge Gollob for pure entertainment value alone + great Cardiff win and guaranteed to add a fair number of supporters to the 2008 GB GP. Jaroslaw Hampel - A thrilling rider on his day and had bad luck with injuries this year. Also need to add at least one rider to Gollob for Polish GPs. But who will take the fourth berth? Many have said that this will go to Zagar as the organisers need to add some representation for the Eastern European GPs. However, it will be a tough decision, as can the GP organisers only leave one Swede in the GPs? When Lindgren had his chance he looked as if he could be a challenger for a top 8 berth next year. My choice would be Lindgren, as Zagar failed to fulfill his potential in the GPs and on most occasions only seemed to be making up the numbers. Or would you favour someone else?

Its beyond me why some fans seem to relish the sight of a rider struggling with his form. I am not the greatest fan of Antonio, but when he's on form he is an entertainer with a capital E. Speedway, whether it be in the GPs, the Elite League or anywhere else for that matter needs riders who can produce thrilling racing and AL can beat anyone when on form. Antonio has gone through a meteoric rise in recent years and perhaps he's got carried away with some the hype. I hope he gets himself sorted sooner rather than later and is back mixing it with the best. I can understand any rider wanting to cut back on the amount of travel they do and thinking that cutting out racing in Britain will give them more time to concentrate on being World Champion. But Antonio should ask himself, who was the last World Champion not to be racing in Britian in the year he won?

Brummie Boy replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If he sorts his bikes out he might start to get some of that confidence back. Its tragic to see him, as he looks a shadow of the rider he was only a year or so ago. Hopefully, he didn't just get carried away by all the hype that was going on around him. For me, one of the worst things in speedway is seeing a talented rider going through a really bad patch, it must be hell for the rider. No good telling him he needs to get back to basics, etc, etc, he'll be doing everything he can to find the problem and beating himself up that nothing seems to be working for him. Don't lose faith Tonio. -

Fantastic performance by Bomber. Over the last few GPs I have been lamenting the demise of Tomasz Gollob, thinking that we wouldn't be seeing any of his unbelevable trade mark overtaking moves and thinking the GPs would be the worse for it. However, seems Bomber is now going to be the man to go where no other rider dares to go. Some of his moves last night were absolutely breathtaking.
