  1. This is the First Time we have raced at an Elite league venue and we are really looking forward to it. The tour dates so far are.... 9/7 Plymouth (full meeting) 12/7 Belle Vue (2nd half) 15/7 Sheffield (2nd half) 16/7 to be announced shortly 18/7 Scunthorpe (individual) At least 2 more dates will be announced soon once confirmed. TEAM VIKING 2010
  2. Its all looking good so far for our summer tour and today we can announce another 3 rider who will be Joining Alexander Edberg in July.. Lars Kristian Fuglerud (NOR) 15/11/86 Lars has been a member of Team Viking since our formation in 2009 and was part of our easter tour although that was only to last for 1 meeting at Weymouth after breaking his wrist during a wheelie celebration!! After his impresive performance at Weymouth Lars has been invited back and since coming back from his injury has been scoring well for Drammen in the Norwegian league. Thomas Jorgensen (DEN) 14/7/92 Thomas is a very exciting talent who races for Brovst in the Danish league where he has been putting in some very impressive performances this year. He was named Danish speedways "fighter of the year" in 2009 and will be out to show the British promoters what he can do. Certainly one to keep an eye on during this tour. Michael Melchiorsen (DEN) 13/7/91 Michael or "Mikker" rides for Holstebro in Denmark where he has been adding some punch to the lower end of the team. Came back to the sport late last season after injury put him on the sidelines for a while and along with Thomas Jorgensen is being hailed as a very exciting prospect for the future. With the exception of Lars Kristian this looks to be the youngest team we have put together yet but packed with talent. We will announce our next 2 riders soon and should be able to name our full fixture list in the next couple of weeks. TEAM VIKING 2010
  3. We are pleased to be able to announce today our first confirmed rider for the forthcoming summer tour. Alexander Edberg from Sweden will be returning to the Vikings after riding for the team on our September tour last year. Alex has been doing the business this year for Ikos Smederna and Hammerby in Sweden and Torun in Poland and Can't wait to get stuck in here in July. Alex showed a lot of potential last year with us and is a fantastic team player not only on the track but also off it which is why he was awarded the Team Viking award for team rider of the year in 2009. we hope to announce our second rider in the next couple of days Team Viking 2010
  4. Very sad news. On behalf of myself and Team Viking our thoughts go out to Ray and his family.
  5. Today we can confirm our first 2 meetings of our summer tour, they are.... 9/7 PLYMOUTH 15/7 SHEFFIELD (2nd half challenge) We are working on booking at least 4 more meetings and we also plan to take in the Cardiff GP (as spectators of cause lol) We are also looking for anyone who can help us with accomadation in the Coventry or Nuneaton area for the riders and their mechanics, If you can help in any way please email us at teamvikingsw@aol.com Thank you
  6. Thank you Steve for your kind words. It was a fantastic meeting against you guys at Newcastle and there was a lot of good feedback afterwards. We look forward to a Vikings v Dream Team re-match next year.
  7. After our sucessfull Easter tour We are pleased to announce that Team Viking will be here again in July. The guys loved it here at Easter and are thirsty for more action on these shore's. Our dates for the tour will be from the 8th to 18th July At time of writing we only have one confirmed meeting which is against the Plymouth Devils at the st boniface arena on Friday 9th July. Ideally we would like to have 5 - 6 meetings including 2nd half challenges and details of fixtures will be posted on here once confirmed. There are no confirmed riders as of yet but we have 11 riders from all over scandinavia who have approached us to ride and in the next few weeks we will be norrowing that down to a team of 8. We will post details of our riders on here once they have confirmed. We look forward to bringing the Viking ship to a track near you TEAM VIKING
  8. Apart from running Team Viking we also have a 2nd team exclusively for British kids called the UK Vikings which features young up and coming lads such as Sam Woods, Josh Pickering and Nick Morris. We are pleased to announce that we have arranged a tour for these guys to race in Denmark during the last week of July. The guys will be baesd in Outrup and we are hoping to set up 2 meetings against some Danish 2nd division sides, the highlight of the tour will be on saturday 31/7 when the UK Vikings face Slovenia juniors and Outrup in a 3tt at Outrup. watch this space for more details
  9. According to my contact in Norway there will be 2 Divisions this year with promotion and relegation. The plan is to have 6 teams in division 2 although some of these will be second teams from Oslo and Riska. With regards to the number of riders, speedway in Norway has started to pick up again and they do have some good young talent coming through thanks to their 85cc training system. Daniel Gunnestad has emerged as Norways leading junior but watch out for his younger brother Thomas this year who will be in his first year of riding 500cc. Another young rider to keep tabs on is Glen Moi
  10. Lucas. Maybe if Britain had 50cc, 80cc and 125cc leagues as in Scandinavia and Australia our kids would have a better chance in this sport. We met Nick on his first trip to ride in England last year. He is a great kid with a huge talent. His father, Lee, is from the Midlands and Nick has a British history same as Tai Woffinden and Jason Crump. I personally feel proud that a 15 year old would choose to return to his ancestrial homeland - ON HIS OWN - to ride here. This is a massive step for anyone let alone someone of his age. This kid will be one of the best and deserves our support and respect for making the choice to ride in Britain. The only reason he is on a 6 point is as he is good enough to have riden in the aussie junior championships. We are also helping young British riders by setting up our new team - The UK Vikings which has some great talent including Sam Woods, Josh Pickering and Lee Geary. This team follows the formation of Team Viking in Feb 2009 and has been specifically set up to give British Kids a chance. This follows coments from clubs that Brits could not be included in some meetings in the oringinal Team Viking line up. The UK division of the Vikings will soon be competing in meetings and 2nd halves.
