  1. Many Elite sports have a similar situation with Ice Hockey and Basketball, etc.
  2. Apparently Danny has had his femur operation, and it has all gone well. They are currently deciding whether to operate on the broken disc in his back, so they might let it heal naturally in place. Would be a positive solution without the trauma of an operation. Looking to transport him to a hospital nearer his home in Teesside.
  3. The Pieman would be very relevant, i agree.
  4. Not sure of the dates or the performance but he did guest last year, and whilst he guested the year previous he got his footpeg caught under the kickboard coming off the second bend and retired injured from the meeting. He's a gutsy rider and, as you correctly imply, we have a habit of turning someones fortunes around like Pepe, Lemon, Lindgren, Schramm, Mills, Tero and Morris(lot more to come from Ash IMO). Let's get behind the lad, who will give his best and not let us down. He has a chance of a long term signing with us just for a change, and i know he will be on top equipment like normal. Interested as to what nickname Roy has got for him. Any suggestions ?
  5. Just checking as he has been to so many clubs I thought he must of had one sometime. Best around I believe, and it has now been announced by our promotion. Think he is more of a bigger track rider and he has had several meetings around Brough.
  6. Ben Hopwood 5.83 NL against Danny Phillips 6.25 NL Has Ben ever had a PL(Championship) average ?
  7. Aye, but you never contributed by paying to get in either. Another freeloader all his speedway life.
  8. I see 'confused of Manchester' is still at it. One minute he is trying to decry the efforts asking when was the last time we produced a GP winner, and now saying he just wants to see Brits in his team. By his own admissions on here, he never used to pay to get into BV in the days of the Speedway Mail, and has repeatedly said he wouldn't go and watch speedway now even if they gave him a free lifelong pass. Move on.
  9. We already have the poultec training scheme for young riders when they have assistance and training in fitness, life style, riding, mechanics and media. Some are already attached to a club and that youth system does not cause any problems in terms of assets. In addition Team GB receives training prior to events such as the World Cup and that doesn't cause any resentment towards individual promotions. At the end the end it is the BSPA that puts this sort of assistance/training into place by voting on it.
  10. There's always one isn't there.
  11. For those who knock the efforts of folks who are involved in the youth development of youngsters, especially Neil Vatcher, these are the tip of the iceberg along with Leon Flint, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn, etc. Next year there will be another crop of riders and the more we produce, the less guests and the less Foreign riders, allbeit at a lower team strength. They are the future.
  12. Ironically I was at Berwick's Training session last night, and Danny was probably the best rider on show along with Berwick's Danny Gappmaeir Best wishes to Danny and hope he gets well pretty soon.
  13. Just heard that KL have confirmed that Danny has also broke his back, as well as his femur. Poor lad.
  14. Went very well. Lots of riders, a good track and no one hurt. 6.30 till just after 9.00 which was just about right with one major grading and watering. I spoke to Kieran, and I think he would have loved to have ridden, but he has to rest for a full month before he can ride again.
  15. Ironically he was at the Berwick Training session last night, and was probably the best rider of the night and looked much faster and more confident on his bike. Any ideas of who to replace him that is available full time. I'll start with Jordan Jenkins.
  16. As i have said earlier, I don't think the BSPA have put the money up front, rather a guarantee for a certain number of engines.
  17. Been in hibernation somewhere. Newcastle is now, and has been a proper riders track for some time, at the same time that your track has taken considerable stick from the likes of HalifaxTiger for being too slick with minimum passing and is 100% worse than when Glyn used to do it. How many track curators have you had since then. Even last week, where was the passing in the first 8 heats till it was chewed up a bit and the racing was a different class after that.
  18. There was a conversation I heard that meant the Dan would have difficulty taking part. Danny was promoted to 1st reserve and Ryan Burton was listed as second reserve and did not turn up. With Boxall nearly being killed by the BBQ jinx , OK burnt hands allegedly, Danny P replaced him, and local junior and Newcastle Gem no 1 Josh Embleton was called in with about 3 hours notice to be on standby as first reserve. With Lambert not able to get to the stadium for his heat 2 ride, he was excluded from the meeting and Josh promoted to the number 6 position.
  19. He rides a wet track every week at Newcastle, it's just not 4in thick of sludge/dirt.
