  1. if the shoe was on the other foot, guaranteed you would be glad with Newcastle losing the points. Remember, despite we give you your biggest gates of the season, Bears fans hardly bother to return the favour at ours.
  2. The practice was once called 'combined averages' but, as stated, can only be used when the team total is under the points limits.
  3. And Covatti's in the 4's tournament at Peterborough.
  4. Covers are not a long term viable solution. They can work given previous certain rain patterns, but need renewing on a rapid turnover. It is much easier to use them at tracks like Berwick with no dog track sheeting and an air fence that can stay fixed, because it is the foam type and no doggies legs to see racing unlike at Brough and other doggy stadiums. At Newcastle we have the worst accumulation of problems, with an air fence that has to be dropped after every meeting, and re-errected before the next meeting (doggies legs thing), and plastic sheeting on the dog track for every meeting, including the 150cc limit training school, in case of damage to the little doggies paws. You should also understand that the above takes up a large unseen workforce every Sunday with struggling numbers, and people think that adding the speedway track covering could should be done when it rains. WHERE do you get the volunteers from for these sheets ?. I wouldn't mind.
  5. Very pleased to hear that, it's the way it should be in any sport. Look forward to your next visit, look me up and i'll show you around next time.
  6. Certainly agree. He has that very distinct voice for a stadium announcer that he also did at St James Park as well, along with Alan Robson. Seem him at Worky, when he was the presenter for a short period a few years ago, but not quite as comfortable or good.
  7. Of course there are limits, but the alternative is not letting them saying anything that they, or the audience, think which could lose paying customers. "Oh i think rider A will get the heave ho after that last ride" would not sit with every well, or many others just so a presenter, can make himself a bit bigger. With respect, Rob is perfectly entitled to express a point of view to the referee being the promoter at the track and it being his business. it he goes over the top he has be punished by the BSPA rules that he signs every year for each season. Not exactly the same as a hired hand doing the damage is it.
  8. Quite agree, they would have needed at least 15 on the pitch.
  9. It won't if the rules are applied according to the rules book, which it is why it should be a 28 riding ban.
  10. And neither was I saying it either. Chris at time, after Cardiff, was getting a bit up himself, IMO, and he carried that over to the BSF. It was inevitable that his ego would get reeled in before the fines started from the BSPA/SCB, who after all operate the rules of the sport that the promoters own, and are governed by the ACU through the SCB. No one in their right mind, even Dave Jones, would own something and allow anybody to harm their business out of their control.
  11. So if you ran a small business with breakeven or a loss, you would allow an employee to make possibly defamatory remarks to others on a mic. S**t for brains thinking. The promoter is the one that stands to be cautioned by the BSPA or the SCB for what the programme, the presenter or the mic man says or behaves during the meeting.
  12. It says more about you if you condemn a club owner for not allowing a mic man to say what he wants to say and damage his business, rather that the big man picking up the losses having in input. Pie in the SKY thinking. It is not allowed in other sports so why should it be in speedway to allow an individual the opportunity to damage your business publicly.
  13. Regardless what spin people try to put on it, it was the dynamic return of form of a struggling reserve that cost us the loss of 2 points, and gave Edinburgh a draw.
  14. George talked to me about signing Josh after our NJL meeting at Glasgow on the 8th April. From that showing, obviously Glasgow remembered his performance so that was why they got him to Guest for them. The first product of the school was actually Liam Carr, but with the NJL team currently made up of riders who all started at the training school, I certainly hope the progress continues. Archie will be next.
  15. OOOPS. Didn't expect the Clegg effect. Well done Max. No, George talked to me then Josh a couple of weeks ago about signing. Ask him.
  16. I was talking generally, not just last night. In the recent past we have won and had a draw at Peterborough.
  17. Weather report for those fans above the Border coming down to Newcastle today. It's slightly overcast at the moment, but the sun is just about to start to peek out and be out for the rest of the day. Little chance of rain, with maybe a spot in the afternoon, and the temperature is forecast to be 15 to 16 degrees. So a nice day for a day out, and to see a good meeting between old foes the Diamonds versus the Monarchs. We tend to win up there, and they tend to win tour place, but I think we will win this one to deny them a point. See you there.
  18. Not an attempt to gloat as you put it, just a reminder that we were the visitors last year when Ged sacked 2 riders mid meeting. I am sure you remember that. A good team manager chooses the best available riders for a guest within the rules. Shanes was NOT a ringer and has been used as a guest by others before this meeting. Could have chose Hopwood, but there could easily be a perfect good reason why he was registered for today instead of yesterday. That's what good Team Managers do.
  19. Pleased with that result, and with a labouring Ludde. Always strange to see a team that is so good on a tight technical track, can also score well and win on a great fast speedway with massive bends. Any riders sacked yet and has the new team been announced yet.
  20. Quite agree, Bewley is the one exception in all the list of riders mention in this thread that wasn't a BYC product. The rest have progressed thought the BYC that Neil controls, and controls very well. speedibee has his own problem as his lad is an older rider and Neil tried to make common rule for all Junior leagues such as the MDL and the NJL which I have a young team in. Neil wanted to have each team to have 2 500's and 2 125's in each team such as our NJL. This brings in youngsters earlier, and the new bunch of riders coming though the under 15 age are generally developed by that team structure. The MDL with speedibee's son, wanted to ride with 4 500s to make sure they got the rides. All about looking after his lad not rider development.
  21. Got to know Bob when he was the announcer at Newport. Very personable and friendly. At one visit he asked me over the tannoy if I had enjoyed the 3-2 TOON win against Barcelona the previous Monday night. How did he find that out and we had a good laugh over him knowing my movements. Very sad, RIP BOB.
  22. Update on Danny's girlfriend Keeley's FaceBook page tonight. The femur was broken in three places and the op was very successful. His back was broken in two places. He is very upbeat and looking forward to his future in speedway. Very positive attitude.
  23. Possibly because of the conditions he is demanding if he accepts the invitation. Tai does not make the rules.
  24. With both reserves on 2's we can use them in either combination. Sometime riding them in different combination home and away gives you some opportunities.
