  1. Probably two, and they were both juniors asking quite high prices for their used engines.
  2. It may have changed but I don't think an individual can own assets riding in a team. How would the minimum bond level be calculated if held privately. If riders are owned by an individual and that individual was without a team, the assets are controlled by the BSPA, in the same way foreign riders are as well. Malcolm Wright owned a lot of riders from his years at Hull. When Hull closed down, he alighted himself with Sheffield and became co promotor with Neil Machin. Malcolm's assets were held by Sheffield, and they might still be the new owners assets as part of the transfer deal. Alternatively, the assets could effectively be held by the likes of Sheffield, but when sold the monies collected by the sale could be given to Malcolm, according to how the deal was structure when Mr Bates bought Sheffield. Likewise with Berwick, John Anderson could have some say in the transfers depending on the deal agreed. It may have suited the new consortium for the deal to be lower with less assets to make it easier to buy the Andersons out.
  3. It produced problems in averages and going up the team, so the scheme was looked at. After criticism on here, the BSPA dropped it for now, but I think could return sometime in the future. It served two purposes at the time, saving money and giving the best youngsters an accelerated route and many riders have benefitted from it. Remember that if the level of guests is to be lowered or eliminated, and less foreign lower order riders not employed, any scheme like the EDR is to be applauded. ...or his Dad.
  4. Got to laugh at the BSF sometimes. Most folks haven't got much time for Bridger, and what he has done and said over the years he has wasted. He breaks the code that he signed to adhere to on his licence application, and suddenly the blame spills over to the SCB and the BSPA. Only on the BSF
  5. Wrong. How could he then represent TeamGB in the World Cup, and also in the World U21 competition. His father has pubs in France and he's called Johnny. He's British.
  6. Was riding for the TeamGB on Saturday, so British and does count.
  7. NEWCASTLE GEMS 16 Josh Embleton 3 f ns = 3 Dale Pate 2+1 2 fx = 4+1 Archie Freeman 3 3 3 = 9 Jack Wright f ns ns = 0 NORTHSIDE STARS 16 Kyle Bickley ef 3 3 = 6 Jack Flynn 1 f ef = 1 Corban Pavitt 2 2 2 = 6 Elliott Kelly 1+1 1+1 1+1 = 3 + 3 Heat 1 Embleton, Pate, Flynn, Bickley ef 5-1 From the gate Kyle from Josh with a little dog fight behind. Kyle slowed second lap and pulled in leaving Josh to win and followed in by Dale Heat 2 Freeman, Pavit, Kelly, Wright f 3-3 8-4 From the gate Archie from Corban, Jack came down 4th turn injuring his side rehurting a previous injury Heat 3 Bickley, Pate, Embleton f, Flynn f 2-3 10-7 Kyle from the gate from Josh, Kyle slowed second lap with Josh taking advantage, only for Josh's engine to quit on him and he headed for the fence, Dale came though to sneak the third place from Jack who pulled in. Heat 4 Freeman, Pavitt, Elliott, Wright ns 3-3 13- 10 Archie from the gate from Corban Heat 5 Bickley, Pate fx, Flynn ef, Embleton ns 0-3 13-13 Kyle from the gate and with Jack and Dale at it again, Jack was passed and then pulled in but Dale in a safe second place, caught the dirt and like a bucking bronco crossed the track and into the fence and excluded. Heat 6 Freeman, Pavitt, Elliott, Wright ns 3-3 16-16 Corban from Archie who then rounded Corban on the second bend and onto another win and a MAX. An interesting encounter which had everything great wins, passes, falls, engine failures and injuries (unfortunately). It could have been easy wins for either side but a draw was fair in the end. Many thanks once again to the supporters who stayed behind to watch the youngsters, it is really appreciated. Injury update Jack W rehurt the Redcar injury in his side, and fortunately goes on holiday next Sunday to recuperate Dale's dive into the fence damaged his ankle, but nothing broke, and he hurt his shoulder Jack F hurt his ankle which looked sore. Here's hoping they can get over the injuries pretty soon.
  8. Good. This year I am taking all my kids.
  9. I ordered 15 tickets a few weeks after they came on sale. Got an email on Thursday to say they have been sent out, so expecting ours tomorrow. No panic.
  10. It's hardly a major issue. 5 riders given preference to ride for their country, and still very good riders available to replace them.
  11. Am I ? News to me. I might know more about their thinking and reasons than most on here, but I am my own man.
  12. I accept that, and the fact with the injury time that Jason has the heat leader replacement is already in the race. No 2 is a difficult position and Dickie Juul and Derek Snedden were probably our best for a number of years. I just feel that JBA is too good for that position, and Yes I would have him probably at No 3.
  13. I was going to 'like' this till the last 6 words. It was more a case of him keeping the wrong company, as history has proved. I liked Rick and Julie and they gave a lot to Peterborough, even if it was tax offloading, it doesn't matter.
  14. At Newcastle the main sponsors banners are all on the 4th bend for the reasons you state.
  15. He did do that, until heat 15 , when it was obvious he was going to sit it out. Bike being warmed through both two minutes and the gap in between, and never attempted to put a helmet, goggles or gloves on. Incidently, I would take exception with Matt W, saying in the SS Worky column that the Diamonds fans cheered when both Cook and Tomas, not just Cook, crashed in the first bend tussle in heat 15. For a little while we didn't know who had crashed, as the way Thomas went in and went straight on( it was difficult to see because of the flying shale) we thought it was Ludde who was in between Tomas and Cook. He must have just missed Ludde, and then hit his own man and bent both bikes. Given that, and all 4 back, why would we cheer when the crash happened. Mind you, when Cook was excluded both times we did cheer with gusto. Why not, be rude not to.
  16. I know it can be increased because you can have delayed concussion, which could go over the 9 days limit. Not sure about less, but I would have thought that a very experienced Doctor examining a patient could pass him fit, but only after a physical examination. A Doctor wouldn't falsely sign him fit because of the consequences, if the rider had another crash soon after and the Doctor then would come under scrutiny.
  17. Reading the comments on the Worky site this morning, it appears that the bike being warmed up WAS Cook's spare bike. which makes it even more puzzling as it looked warm enough to be able to be ridden. I am thinking that because how much warming up does a second bike take when the first fails, and the rider warms it up on the way to the tapes. I could see what was happening, and despite the bike being warmed up through the full double 2 minutes, plus the gap in-between, Craig made no attempt to prepare himself, not trying on his helmet, gloves and goggles. It was as if he had decided he was not going out. Further to that, the site also stated the Jorgenson was whisked out after he had hammered his seat bracket straight and had virtually no time. I am sure he was given a good amount of time and came out with the Diamonds in a timely manner, just leaving Craig in his own in the pits. I laughed at the suggestion that 'a Newcastle Official" had rang the referee to say they were all ready to go, so he put the 2 minutes. Wonder who that was , if in fact it was true, unless they though Craig would put his helmet on and then he didn't. If you are planning on decorating this weekend, and haven't bought the stuff yet, try Workington Speedway. They seem to have stacks of whitewash available.
  18. Good to hear. I thought he had something special when I saw him last year.
