  1. Yes, and it's best not to know or speculate as there are genuine difficulties in this case.
  2. He had a front spoke come loose, and Alan on the start gate was trying to temporary fix it with him. I understand that you could have thought it was his damper, but it was a spoke and, YES I would hope it wasn't deliberate. i
  3. A team from the Premier or Championship League have to pay the junior club a training fee before they can call the rider an asset. Everyone goes on about 'assets', when in fact it would be more appropriate to 'holding UK registration' cos that it all it is.
  4. I think he was more than a bit pissed off. I was on the Pits gate and we could see the violent locker in the air by Wells, and Ludde had to depart quick as if he hadn't both of them would have been seriously injured. It was frightening to watch from the gate as Wells either deliberately or accidently reared and swayed toward the fence, closing the gap that Ludde was about to use to pass Wells. I think he got a hell of a shock, lost his speed and realised he was out of contention. Sensibly he careered around the back just in case someone came off and he would get a point.
  5. You cant run a speedway meeting without track staff who would/were at the United game. Business sense not to run against United.
  6. We are talking here about an alleged crap track that had consistently good race times.
  7. It's a fallacy that lowering the admission by say 50%, means you will get over 100% increase in the gate levels.
  8. It's likely to be about the birth of Steve's second child with Annabelle. The baby is due about the 2nd August. Hope all is well.
  9. The idea this season of dropping back to 40 with changes was to dissuade promotions from wholesale changes. I wonder how many teams would have changed more, but decided for a simple one for one or just stuck by what they had. I think the latter would be Newcastle.
  10. I really thought he would retire, but he obviously feels that Danish Speedway and TV viewing figures in his own country are suffering, and is using that to reason with himself that a comeback is necessary. I would give his comeback till the end of this year, and he will retire then I am sure. Rather than the persona that he has as a racer, he has another side to him that others don't see.
  11. Think it's you that needs to read it again. You state 'profit' of £5k, so surely you are implying all costs, including riders pay has been cleared. You also imply that the riders get a %age of the profits. By your reckoning, what do the riders get if there is no profit.?
  12. Not to the Glasgow promotion.
  13. What world do you live in. So a promotion having say 25 home meetings can make £125.000 per season.
  14. What with Wolbert missing a meeting(burgergate) and his lowering of his average at Glasgow, folks have every right to look for and find malpractice with dodgy performances.
  15. There's always one, isn't there. Prophets of gloom.
  16. On Saturday, the show was only missed one thing, Nicki Pedersen. Put him, Killer and Zagar together and there's your entertainment factor for the meeting. Having signed Nicki in 1998, he has a special place with me, my family and all Diamond Fans. He has had no luck these last few years, he has not found that speed in his equipment that he demands, and now he has a possible partial paralysis in his left arm threat if he breaks the twice broken vertebrae again and it damages the nerve. WE missed seeing him on Saturday, and I doubt if we will see him seriously ride again. Sad, but it had to happen sometime. He will be missed by even those who hated him.
  17. Same thoughts as me. Seems to be more iffy fans at Ippy than other tracks. Complain about their riders, their promotion, the track, the track preparation, the Team Manager, weather calls, you name it they will moan about it. A good team this year is wasted on the moaning fans.
  18. But surely that would have been one of, if not the most, obvious decision they could have come to. The fact they didn't doesn't make the cancellation of heat 15 wrong, or the usual dragging back of the dirt to settle and lie fallow to settle for the following week. You can't just pull it back and ride on it, unless you say tyre pack and slightly grade it. It all takes time and on a cold night how many would they have performed to.
  19. You are a bit like us at Brough. We have long straights and tight bends and the outside restriction, us dogs and you stocks, will always determine what you can do. You can bring the bends in earlier to shorten the straights, but the bends still ride the same with the arc still being the same. If the bends are left wider, most the track on the outside is wasted and not usually used unless you are in trouble.
  20. Due to a late change in circumstances, I have 2 second bend tickets for this weekends British GP, and University accommodation for Friday and Saturday available. The ticket value was £45 each, and the Halls rooms were £26 per person per night. Therefore total value of £194 but looking for offers. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  21. I don't think it is 'sudden'. This poster is negative toward practically everything, and I really don't understand why he bothers on here or going to the track.
  22. Obviously not seen the Olympique held at Wolverhampton.
  23. Plus the contractors WERE working on the refurbishment of the main building, removing the asbestos and renewing the wiring. I was there yesterday, along with about 12 others doing the sheeting and putting up the air fence. Those like TaylorJ will always, like usual, have their own agenda regardless of the facts. That's out of order John. When we have needed replacements due to injuries we have usually done OK, and George has been quick on the ball to get someone decent in in a very short time, Victor and Tero come to mind. Tonight, anybody who we signed could not have ridden anyway as the registration needs three full working days to be approved. I am sure George will spend the time before our next meeting at Sheffield on the 27th July and come up trumps again.
