  1. Danny Bird as well. Never paid his fine, so his ban is yet to start.
  2. Batchelor didn't walk out.. he had a medical certificate. Although for being abusive to British speedway on Twitter this afternoon, I hope it does signal the end of his British speedway career. Other Kings Lynn riders went out and did ride after the track prep... Holder is the only one who didn't, hence the ban. He walked out and got ready to go, and was warned he still had not completed his third ride after running through the tapes earlier. He knew the risks, and he is getting the deserts he deserves.
  3. Changed tuners at the wrong time, and paying the penalty.
  4. Too true they will. Seems strange to get to August and still not met Redcar at home. It's just been unfortunate for BSPA reasons, so no naughty avoidance by Newcastle.
  5. The running of the meeting was conducted by a SCB referee, not Buster, and he was the one that dished out the original penalty to the twice refusal to ride by Holder. That would be contained in the report of the meeting and the Ref Darren Hartley, would have dealt with Lambert and Huckenbrack on the night. But congrats on your rant.
  6. Yes. With a 'shared event' the staging costs are reclaimed by the hosting promotion and the profit is put into the BSPA funds and, together with other shared event profits, shared out to all promotions at the AGM. This is opposed to a bought event when the successful bid goes into the BSPA coffers, and the profit goes to the host promotion.
  7. BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP Round 6 @ Belle Vue, Sat 5th Aug, 2017 Results for those who couldn't attend the meeting. Class 125cc 1st Harry McGurk 2nd Archie Freeman 3rd Luke Harrison 4th Elliott Kelly Class 250cc 1st Leon Flint 2nd Nathan Ablitt 3rd Jason Edwards 4th Dan Thompson Class 500cc 1st Kyle Bickley 2nd Dan Gilkes 3rd Carl Basford 4th Drew Kemp
  8. Actually that is how it is done in Japan for their form of speedway on a hard bowl surface. Riders and bikes are kept in cages on the centre green and allocated by a draw. The sport of course is just for betting on, and hence the reason why the need to give the allocation some sort of random credibility in the eyes of the punters.
  9. Agreed. 1 Best engine picked by the worst rider, the best rider will be claiming his doesn't work, and will be borrowing the reserves engine. 2 Best rider has a poor night, he will blame the engine, and will want his points money topped up to compensate him.
  10. Every stadium could decide to kick speedway out if their prime industry gave them enough profit. At Brough and all the doggy stadiums, speedway helps them pay bills and keep them out of debt. Even with £0.5M from BAGS meetings, we are paying the rates and upkeep of the stadium through our stadium rent. Don't hold your breath waiting to be the new Glasgow, unless I win the lottery of course.
  11. The stadium was bought out by a consortium of national bookmakers and who own the BAGS contract. It is that group that is refurbishing the main stand facilities at the present moment.
  12. I certainly don't think that anybody would begrudged Robert a bit of R and R after all the massive crashes he has had in the last few weeks. Given he started with that broken scaffoid and has had heavy tumbles again last week at Brough, in the U-21 in Poland and this week in heat 15 at KL. He's lucky he is able to race at all.
  13. He also presents at Redcar and Berwick. Difficult start at Redcar being our 'enemy', but he has toned down his accent a bit at all his speedway gigs. Likes a laugh and gives all riders a memorable nickname for every opportunity/race they are in. 'Ruthless' Robert, 'Captain Lightning' Lindgren, 'Dynamite Lewis', 'Soooper Stevie Worrell',etc. Also has full 2 pages in the meeting magazine and it's called Ranting Roy. Yu canna whack a real Geordie accent Apparently Cook was pulled up twice after his first two rides for riding through the pits. On the third occasion, Jason tackled him again and Cook lost it and smacked him sending Jason's papers everywhere. Lots of mirth.
  14. It's a sheet with contracted bookings on as a reminder where he is required in the following week. Standard documentation.
  15. If he was given a booking sheet by Ged, he's contracted to ride in the 4's. Its not Jack's to withdraw from. Fine and possible ban coming up. Another Holder thinking he can do what he wants to do, whenever he can.
  16. That is a ridiculous statement to make. There are less 'free' people at the moment than ever before, but even previously your statement is way off the truth. There are people getting in free who should not be getting in, but it will always be a problem at any track.
  17. Well I had to try didn't I. I'm feeling embarrassed, but I'll get over it. Fred Olsen !!!! No thanks, it's all old folk.
  18. No one said the track was in decent nick. There was loose shale which was being bladed back regularly.
  19. Yes, they are all volunteers. The only person paid is the track curator for his expertise and the importance of his work. Other than that, all officials, red flaggers, pits gate personnel, dog track sheeters, marshals, etc, are volunteers. Each job needs to have a minimum number of people, but you try and get more to cover absences for sickness, holidays, occasions.etc. We are required to have 4 red flaggers, but I started this year with six as if they all turn up it is easier for everyone. We have had some who have left but we continue to look for and find new recruits to train and replace them. Don't forget it is more than just turning up for the meeting. Airfence personnel and sheeters are there during the day, return for the meeting and then have to remove the sheets and drop the airfence for the track to be ready for the dog racing for the stadium management. We are still there till after 10.00pm most meetings. We can't get access during the week to work on the track, as the stadium hosts BAGS meeting during the day, and as the pictures are transmitted in particular to the Far East for betting, we can't be seen working there as it does not look professional when selling the rights to film. So early morning Sunday is our first chance to get the track ready for the evening meeting. NB British Afternoon Greyhound Service Further Edit. Forgot to mention the renumeration package. Free programme and free admission for them and a friend. Anybody interested in it come and see me at the meetings.
  20. It does happen sometimes entering a bend and then putting the bike down to thwart the rider alongside them. Nowt to do with ruts, you will be disappointed to hear. It was the dirt which was deep and he opened the throttle and picked up unexpected drive.
