Do We Still Need The Play-offs
Tsunami replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Where ? -
Not really surprised to see this meeting off today. 2 weeks ago it had to be called off with the track sodden with rainwater and despite new shale it would not dry out. Last week we were working on the airfence and Moxey had to pump off the puddles that were on the insides of both sets of corners. Since then there has been frequent rain, some quite heavy, and rain was forecast for today. More dry shale and no rain during the day and there was expectations that it could proceed, but late rain after 6.00pm put paid to those expectations. So one more fixture to fit in with the loss of one the 4 available Sundays. I can understand the late calloff as I would think that all parties would have wanted to get a meeting run despite everything. So it's next Monday at 7.30pm against Glasgow in the Cup. No rain please.

It doesn't work like that. But if it floats your boat, fair enough. -

Just going off a comment from Sue on the Updates site fueltaps. Wow, that's an unknown number of folks for the Championships(Premier that was). Well done. Why didn't the ref just abandon the meeting when it was won, meaning the damaged panels could be left for later. Seems a damper if folks have to stand around trying to celebrate, whilst the fence is mended and races that mean nothing are run. -

And then some people laugh at fans being preoccupied with filling in the programme. I am with you as it is an important part of the evening and its enjoyment. -
Not been to Brough for awhile then ? By choice it has dirt on it to improve the racing. Anyway, better not talk about speedway, it's a Redcar thread.

That'll be the Glyn Taylor who crafted the track for you, and was responsible for making a decent racing track in the early days. Given your history I don't think many Bears fans would agree with you, as many people moaned the fact that he wasn't there to get a decent track back. It has improved this year. Think you need to recount your corners as in my experience it is the first bend that seems to trouble your riders when Richie is about, notably with Kus and Summers. Shouts of "hope you broke your fu*king neck' from the bar terraces, which is on the 1st bend not the 4th bend. Disgusting.

Golden heats if the aggregate scores are level. -
cheeky cobra must have missed that meeting.

I have seen many bad crashes coming off the 4th bend. I can recall 2 in particular when Josh Auty(riding for the Bears) overdid it and couldn't get it back on line and went straight into the straight fence. Another was a junior carrying too much speed. I have also seen juniors in the NJL hit it hard. You can't judge the number of accidents on the number of air bags damaged. For a start there isn't any on the home straights part, something I think is unsafe and you should have about 3 panels to cover the accidents we are talking about. A similar track pits exit like Glasgow does have them there, and I am amazed you are not required to have at least three there. I think 1 and 2 are proper corners and can have good race lines. There is a lot of drive normally, and can see some decent overtakes with inside and on the outside.

Sunderland is only 13 miles away from Newcastle and there are distinct differences between them with key words like when they say spune, Luke and buke instead of spoon, look and book. (Note the double OO's) Funnily enough that also are used to the thee and thou words as well. It happens often for a judge to say thee were caught pinching out of the till and as a punishment thou shall attend every home match of Sunderland FC. Could have been a visiting Judge of course. -
Try to use your brains for your replies. I am there more that once or twice, but my comments were made based on the regular contributors on Redcar threads expressing their dismay at the reducing number of fans on a weekly basis, when you were totally rubbish under Havvy. Let's not pretend it didn't happen because it did. I also talk to folks who did come down even when the Diamonds are not riding, and they confirmed your then worrying crowd levels. The new promotion came in just in time, as you could not have sustained speedway on the old numbers. I am pleased to see the reversal. In your early days you had regular crashes of riders coming off the forth bend too fast, and going straight into the fence on the straight. Or are you denying that. I used to come down to see Glyn, and with riders that were living at our house, so I was a very frequent attendee.

During last year and the year before when numbers were disappearing every week. We turned up with our usual droves, and all you could see was black and whites. Even on here everyone was saying their concerns and worries with such a lack of support. Typical of some Bears fans to deny the obvious, and not recognise the cracking support we have gave you over the years. But not returned at Brough of course. NB Does Jitendra also do Dictionaries for spelling.

Too touchy CH. As a Diamond fan I have been very supportive of Redcar, and your promotion, and 'fueltaps' is only trying to quantify what a decent crowd at STMP is this season. You have done very well this year, and are even above us this year. Look for the bigger picture.

Of course. Water will always drain off a bald banked track.
