Scorpions vs Redcar - 6.4.18 - Championship Shield

Wrong on both counts. Richie got blamed for taking Kus off in a first bend collision, and was getting death threads from the pacifism Redcar fans, whilst JBA collected everyone especially his mate Lasse all season. Tak them dark glasses off. -
Sheffield v Newcastle 05.04.18

Correct. Especially when riders are rusty through no practice, the last thing that a rider or a team wants is to be denied the opportunity to get some practice in. The meeting was lost early. -

To be fair, Jonas had just drove across Stevie on the 4th corner, so Stevie would have been trying to get around him when Jonas tried it again. -
Matej was always going to ride in Poland and there is a greater chance of him actually getting a ride before his ex-teammate Rose. Anyway I think Marej will do well for Redcar under the new promotion. So Matej gets a ride, we get a loan fee and Redcar get a decent rider, everyone’s a winner. In the case of BWD , I think his Peterborough actions late on last season could have done him. Remember if a decent rider is still without a team spot there will always be a reason. Have faith in the promotion, as if they wanted a good rider, and he was available, I am sure they would have went after them. There is also another decent rider not fixed up yet, but that situation will change soon and we will then know why we did not signed him.

There’s a very good reason why we are 2 points below. There are NO top riders available and that is obvious to everyone. We would all like a Rolls Royce, but ocassionally you have to make do with a Mini, till a Rolls you can afford comes along. As I have said earlier, we need to remember all that had to happen during the winter, and understand the reason why we were left at the back of the queue for the top riders. We are on catch up, and I am sure if another returnee from Poland, or a another good rider becomes available, the promotion will try to get them. Apart from a rocky period in the middle 00’s, the promotion has had decent success with some brilliant riders, and it is not in anybodies interest to be understrength, so let’s be a bit more patient before anybody stamps off in a huff.

Well with the Rose signing, and the circumstances behind his change in plans, I am happier than I was. I had already said that I hoped someone in Poland would drop out, but I thought that would be sometime into the season. This way we have Rosie where he will be appreciated, and hope for him to have an injury free season. We don’t appear to have a weak link and everyone is capable of winning a race, which we could not say when we had 2 top heat leaders. They are all triers and are capable of getting results though their efforts. Ludde, Robbo, Rose, will be fine, Tero Ash Wilko and Wethers if they ride to there competences especially Tero, they will bring us victories especially if we get behind them. It is no good now having Glasgow expectations, given the circumstances that the club found itself when Alan walked out. Have faith in George and Martin, a consolidation year, glad we have speedway, can’t expect too much, seems to be far from the reactions to our team now. This promotion has gone through the team building process after everyone else had about a 2 month start. It may be necessary to restrenghthen at some time in the future, and if there are riders available the club will do what it has to do. It wants success just the same as everyone else, so give the team a chance. Interesting that some of the doom merchants don’t even go to speedway, so I prefer those who have genuine concerns and love their Speedway especially Newcastle. Once a rider puts on the Diamond jacket he is our rider, so let’s look forward to an interesting and entertaining season.

Not sure now RD, but someone’s son played for the boys club and unfortunately printed off tickets for everyone in the league. Better tickets were originated after that lesson.

Yes he is in a happier place these days, with a nice girlfriend who has kids. He looks as if he is contented and has the son out on a minibike. I hope he enjoys his life, but I am not sure I want to see him on track. He was told he had to pack in and I understood he could not ride for a year. That has passed awhile ago and I have seen clips of him on a bike, but I think that is as far as it will go. One of the nicest riders in the business, with a beautiful style and great gater. 5-1's with DEEK was a done thing on many many heat 1's, and was in both legs of the Cup final against Birmingham in 2010.

Ominous quote above from WalterPlinge, who usually has a good grasp of speedway situations. What does the latter sentence mean, 'out of what' ? Hope it not what I think, but it is fanciful to think him coming to Newcastle. He is a Redcar rider in 2018.

Retired over a year ago on medical advice. Nice guy Kenni.

But there was wasn't there. Name like massa ?

Not easy when you race in a dog stadium. Even our agreed off night Monday, we get very poor attendances when we use that night.

What happened to its leader, bruv.

The difficulty is spend your money on who. There is virtually no-one to sign and Poland has a rule of a 9 man pool, but the team with Hancock, Rose and Kus has 14 riders stockpiled. That in parts has caused a shortage. My way out would have been to go for a new 5.2 rider, and hope he comes good, and a bigger signing into the season when someone gets disallusioned with Poland, and is looking for another income stream. It might be starting low, but there will be opportunities to restrengthen as time goes on. It's got to be remembered we started later than everyone else, and with lesser money probably, so there was always signs we would be limited as to who we could sign. Hang on for the early days and see what pans out but we still should have faith in George and Martin as both of them will not want a poor team for very long. Have faith.

Yes. I suspect it may not be about him, let's give the lad a break and move on.
-
No he wasn't injured Alan, he didn't get a ride so had to take the year out. I though there was a reduction when you came back, and I was later told he could get a 5% reduction. It doesn't really matter actually as I can't see us getting a rider that takes us up to the points limit.
-
Would be nice , but...
-
Sure he will get say an 8% reduction for missing out a year. So that would make it 8.20 left.
-
I tried to sign Wethers in 2003 for the Gems on his first visit to Brough. Welcome eventually, a 21 point max on a diabolical slimey track not so long ago.
-
5 signed and double R/R, we should be OK.
-
No. He's waiting for the call from Redcar.

I agree with your sentiments. if there was a regular 'nothing to report' I know the promotion would get called for doing it. I don't know the difficulties they have, whether it is pay demands, non availability, visa, etc, but I do know that if they could report something they would. No point in saying too much, and then regretting it and being criticised for doing so. At the end of the day, our first official meeting is on Thursday 5th April so there is time yet. I think the team would take the usual 3 working days clearance by the BSPA, so the remaining members need to have been signed before the 2nd April. A guest for the Berwick meetings, and then followed by the U21 Semi at home, gives us a bit of time to get it right whatever the delay is for. I have heard of a possible 2 rider combination, but I don't think there would be any difficulties in signing them.
