  1. Wrong. I know stacks of fans who now go to the Polish ones. And not just 1 venue.
  2. George is probably getting him from the corner shop.
  3. Forgetting of course the trauma that the club has gone through before Xmas to be in a position to open this year, and the published statements about this year is realistically a year of consolidation. No number 1's left, so strength in depth team was the only alternative, and the team has had some great results and decent racing especially at Brough. A hiccup unfortunately with Rose finally signing but now having time out, but some good news could be around the corner about his replacement. What was the phrase at Xmas, "in George we trust".
  4. Well at least an attempt was made to help riders get a cheaper engine to run and attempt to control cost which was perceived to be the problem. Did it fail ? It would seem it did what was expected with good reduction of running costs with good performance, but rather difficult to get the settings right. Where have we heard that before. What it did do was start others to try and achieve the same benefits so the GM monopoly is definaltey under threat and that can only be good in the longer term.
  5. To be fair, he is entitled to do it if the audience are not respectful, and don't want to listen. If someone has a go at me when I have agreed to give them my night I would walk, the least the audience can do is be respectful.
  6. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Another thread on the decline of Speedway
  7. Yes I agree it was very bumpy going into the 1st and 3rd bends, and at times when Ludde was riding the kerb, he would be flung off. I think it was down to the sun and heat not allowing water to go into the base. I heard than Jonny was watering continuousley late in the afternoon, but presumable the water just ended up as vapour and not into the base. Surprised that the Water bowser was lined up to come out about heat 9, but not used. Maybe it would have made it even more dangerous. As it happened the dirt on the outside was there to be ridden and Ludde didn't disappoint, did he. I thought it was a decent meeting with a lower crowd as expected, and an even more surprising result. Funny this year how the Diamonds have had some surprising results against some fancied teams. Like everyone else I hope a signing or two can be made soon so we can get a settled term for the rest of the season. Riders have got to be available of course, some forget that, but as the slogan on here said in December "in George we trust".
  8. He was, but dipped badly at Glasgow, and was only a shadow of his former self on his visits to Newcastle when he had been imperialist with his early performances. Never really got over the food poisoning he got from that dodgy burger.
  9. Yes, but many clubs in the absence of Brits good enough, have brought on foreign riders like we did at Newcastle with Nicki, Bjarne, KB, Kenni, Rene. That didn't mean more Brits, but they maintained the standard of our sport for many years and had a special loyalty to come back every year. Bringing in top Poles, etc, when they have made it in there own country, they can be mercenary and just go from club to club, as they don't really have a home base in the UK, unlike our Danes.
  10. You can only say something if there is something to say. There has been many discussions that have looked promising, but which took a wrong turn at the end so no signing. Do you really want the promotion to give you a running commentary of 'nil' news and be accused of leading the fans with nothing really to report. A deal was agreed and was turned over, so what was the point if that had been on the site ?
  11. And many more journeymen of a decent standard to give them an occupation, and for speedway fans to watch and enjoy. Not everyone needs to be a GP star to claim to have made it as a speedway rider.
  12. Got a bit more opposition for Archie and Danny tomorrow night, if folks want to stay back and watch. Had others lined up for the 500's but now had a drop out.
  13. Yes, Cook though Redcar Cubs to Workington, The Worrals from MotoX went to Scunny and were in the NL. At different times both Steve and Richie used to ride in ALL three leagues at the same time. I don't agree that Woffy gained all his experience in OZ. He rode at Scunny and was bought by Silver for Rye House and also to CVS at Wolverhampton.
  14. The foreign federations hold the registrations of that countries riders, and in order to sign a foreign rider, their federation needs to issue a "permission to ride". They can dictate terms, but there are official agreements with the DMU, Svemo, AMA(Danish, Sweden and the USA) in place.
  15. Quite agree Jonny. Unbelievable work rate and responsibilities by the Vatcher team. Add the SCB job as well.
  16. Quite agree. I was in the same Sunday school, Boys Club and worked for the same company C A Parson's Turbines along with Mike as apprentices, and kept in touch for quite awhile but I believe he now lives in Middlesex. Was a county swimmer and ended his work days as a manager/coach at the southern swimming club. Was also in the same class as his first wife Penny. Was a nice easy going guy, but would not have included him in any list of 'characters'. Loved riding in the wet hence his name of "Mudlark" Watkin, and beat Barry Briggs at Newcastle in the mid 60's on the Monday after Briggo had won the World title on the previous Saturday. One name not mentioned was Mike Hiftle, formally of Newcastle, but a stalwart of Halifax and Berwick. He was also a member at the same Boys Club as Mike and me, although he was a year or so younger. Mike was a genuine character with his loving and happy smile, and at our same school, he was always up to pranks and was always in trouble. Great fun but.
  17. Doesn't even know now when to do it. Thinks it is funny.
  18. Been with him all afternoon at the Redcar round of the BYC. Great job.
  19. Most of the £3k was spent on repairs to the new engines. I do, more than you obviously.
  20. Don't know why I bother replying to your rubbish, and by the way it's not 'mr know it all', it's 'mr know more than you' in this case. Ludde has bought 2 engines to go with the three he has had from last year, and he has spent about £3k mainly on the NEW engines. End of my contribution on this thread.
