And what law is that then ?. A club, not using their asset, enters into a loan agreement with another club and the rider and everyone is happy. It doesn't work out, and the owning club tries to get him placed with another club and the releasing club gets back some of the loan fee. Who lost out and what law was broken.
-
Which is sensible for football, but it doesn't necessarily make sub contracting of a loan deal in Speedway daft.
-
It would be more stupid if Kus came back to Newcastle, and we got another loan free for the same period that Redcar had paid for from another club. What would be your solution that wouldn't sound odd ?
-
Once Redcar took him on loan for the year and paid the fee, he us their rider for that year. If they loan him to say Peterborough, Peterborough would pay Redcar for the rest of the year pro rate fee. Substitute Newcastle for Peterborough and the same applies. Call it a loan fee or compensation, it amounts to the same thing.

Ipswich Witches v Sheffield Tigers 7th June
Tsunami replied to Badge's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Wilko is riding well and lives down your way. Incidently, thank you Ipswich for the loan of Covatti, especially on Sunday at home to Berwick. Apart from a dead gate 1 race, he was fantastic value, and ride his socks off as our guest. Not many guests do that and he thrilled the crowd with his enthusiastic style. Well done Nico. -
We haven't lost fans like you have, and Redcar would get the loan fee now, not Newcastle.
-
Totally different case signing a rider for a team with Thursday home meetings and a team that rides on a Sunday. If he was decent, he would be riding in Poland and probably no facility to replace him. Now that would be crazy for both Newcastle, the sport and the FANS.
-
We would have to pay Redcar a loan fee.

Of course everyone is missing the fact, especially with the dearth of riders that are free and available at the moment, that the Diamonds and George may have been given another 28 days extension which is normal practice for similar cases. #justsayinglike This 'exception that is being taken by Berwick folks on this issue, must have spread to a certain member of their promotion, who pointed out that I was running the later NJL meeting without any redflaggers in attendance tut tut. That was because it was between races and they had rakes in their hands at the time raking, and their flags were on the grass. I pointed them out individually to him, and gave him their names one at a time. It must of been something in the Berwick tea on Sunday tut tut.

The continuing decline of Speedway

Was it not in the rulebook in the early 00's Neil. I remember James Birkinshaw turned his van over, and was not able to ride at Berwick, and we couldn't use him for 7 days then. -

And I think your reply probably confirms certain things about you as well. -

Are you ever happy about anything or anybody ? The rules you quote are in place to stop certain malpractices that riders have used in the past. These rules are introduced to make sure there was penalties if anybody tries in on and that the clubs will pursue everything to make sure the rider completes his obligation to the team. One I can think of was when a rider allegedly had a poor tummy cos of a dodgy burger, when most folks knew that that was a tryon and the rider missed a meeting completed only 11 meetings, and therefore got a final average about a point below that he should have. It is tough at some times, and clubs can be unlucky like in Redcar's situation , but things would be worse if they were to be abolished. -
How much did George get ?
-
Except of course that the Holdergate situation last year was not a Peterborough fixture, but one of the BSPA Super 7 events which teams are required to be represented by their top riders by average. The details in the contract.

Lakeside Hammers v Workington Comets - Friday 1st June

As you well know, Rene said that when Alan Hedley was his sponsor and club owner before he walked out of Newcastle. -
Yes and some riders back out of a deal but you cant report that. It's all highs and lows and riders messing others up. Barbarian. Kennett going to Peterborough is a no brainer for him. Hardly a scoop as he wouldn't join any Northern Tracks, then along comes a Southern one.
-
He would never have come to a Northern track due to his other committments.

When we first opened up in 1997, I went around all the local hotels and caravan parks and kept them stocked up in their foyers for their guests. No offers on them, so never really found out if they worked.
-
I thought that after I posted. There's less chance of a Smith these days.
-
With a surname like that, I would guess he's not from Byker .
-
Redcar will have taken out a loan agreement on Kus for the year. If Kus was then loaned out to say Sheffield, Redcar would get the loan fee for the remainder of the season.
-
Oh but Montie, don't you know he is in on all deals, and what he knows he tells. Spy in the camp for his own self promotion.

As it happens, despite Redcar not really being there, there was some decent race especially when Barker was in it, or when the Diamonds missed the gate and when Dolan had to double overtake Stewart in the same race. Good stuff. I agree with some who have sympathy with the Redcar promotion who would expect their riders to do their best to get to a meeting, and in this case natural elements stopped 2 riders getting there, but a touch of Bykeritis probably prevented the other from getting there. Just pleased that Newcastle could help them and Redcar gave Championship League time to both Gavin and Josh. Gavin riding with a cocxyc injury from a big off at a practice session at Redcar yesterday, and Josh, who was already down to ride in the second half, and completed both commitments. Crowd was down with virtually no-one there from Redcar but with probably only a few home fans stayed away. Some good hard charging around the boards later on and plenty of overtaking. It could have been a disaster but it was not a bad meeting overall even though the result was never going to be in doubt. Normally overjoyed when we stuff the Bears, but I was entertained and could feel sorry for their plight. I just think the number of times we nearly had the same experience when the likes of Pep Franc, due in at 3.00pm from Czecho was delayed, we could have been in the same boat. NB Just though I should have mentioned the excellent offer that Promoter Kevin Keay made last night. As a compensation for his low average side, he asked the fans to keep their admission tickets, and on their next visit to the STMP circuit admission would only be £10.
