The continuing decline of Speedway
Tsunami replied to wealdstone's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
But some critics have the nerve to make statements like that, when they were asked to pay to get in and they walked away to then be a permanent critic. Didn't you. -
Top versus the bottom teams, but at the end of the day a testing contest with respectable performances and final score. Due to absences of both 500 riders, the Gems tracked Luke and Sheldon who put up brave shows against track specialists at the 'Boro. Great competition in the 125's, with separate battles between Max and Archie and Ashton and Danny with the Gems couple just shading it overall. Luke unlucky with an engine seizure and the resultant fall got him excluded.

SGB championship fours 1st July redcar
Tsunami replied to SuperBear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That reminds me of those great promotion partners, Norfolk and Good. -
Best track prep arrangement was at Rye House probably about 2003/4 when Len Silver employed two small tractors, one with a small bowser on the back and the other one with a flat grader. After each heat, and whilst the riders were leaving the circuit on bend 1, the two tractors come out of bend 4 centre green and did a quick couple of circuits just before the next race riders were coming out onto the track. They took no extra time, but the condition and preparation was the same for all 15 heats. Only time I have ever seen such good preparation. Unfortunately it probably can't be done now, as the tractors were ready on the centre green area and also entered the track whilst riders were either leaving or entering the circuit. "Elf and Safety you know.

SGB championship fours 1st July redcar

Time to get your hearing tested then. It was probably Redcar's second biggest gate ever after the fantastic crowd on their opening night. Well supported by mainly local Northern clubs, -
SGB championship fours 1st July redcar

Of course the opposite scenario of only using 8 teams, having a recognised 2 X 4 teams format, with fairer gates would have been laughed at on here by the likes of you. Nobody is ever going to get it right it would appear. -
apology to workington speedway .

The difficulty HT, is how much a promoter puts up with before things have to be said or they quite. I have read with amazement at some comments on here and think some are well over the top and critical of people who don't have to put up with it. Why should someone who is personally putting money into the sport, losing money hand over fist for a number of years, now have to put up with comments about 'back pocket money'. It's quite insulting really and coming from a person who's family is, I believe, a long standing family with Worky ties. Yes, promotions and administers of businesses have to bite their tongue at times, but there is a limit and, as you know, I would not put up with it and haven't. Comments yes please, but hurtful and possibly untrue accusations are just not on, especially from a vowed fan of Worky Speedway. -
Lakeside Hammers v Workington Comets - Friday 1st June
Tsunami replied to tocha's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Must admit jenga, but if I was Steve I wouldn't have been very enamoured with your comments. I understand that you have a long family connection to Worky Speedway, and have usually supported them for many years. Unfortunately, whilst trying to support Laura, you have overstepped the mark in particularly regarding her brother Steve, when it would have been better to said nowt or couched it differently. I do hope you have made your peace with them, and continue to support the team in a supportive way. -
Get the water in early and let it soak in. If it's dark it's right for water, but when it goes pinky it needs more water. Simple. Mark Thorpe used to say that in New Zealand, they went in early, turned the taps on to flood it. and then had a barbecue. Stacks of water and put it in early.

Scorpions v Sheffield 29 June KOC 7.30

I remember booking Ollie Allan to guest for us at Lakeside in the early 00's, and he scored 1point and we pulled him out of his last ride. Shocking, and never got another booking after that. Was called SuperSub after that. -
That old chestnut Kenny, Try working at the track, and you could as well.

The medics didn't put his shoulder back in because if the shoulder had been broken, they could have done life affecting damage with damaged/severed ligaments. I believe Kyle declined to put it back in himself.

You're a bit out of date. Tom Owen used to go over to the third bend at Brough in the 70's with a shovel, and dig a hole on the racing line going into the third bend and then tamp down the loose shale. He knew where it was, but others didn't, and it went on allegedly for a number of years. Incidentally, there is hardly a track that I have been to where there hasn't a 'problem' on the third bend entrance. Glasgow. Berwick, Newport had a double hole, Stoke, Lakeside, Middlesbrough, Worky was the first bend, to name a few. Don't forget that the entrance is the first bend for 4 riders together hit at full throttle before they taper out, and can chose their own racing line.

Well in the last couple of weeks, 2 Kamikazi rides by 2 riders in about third place, deciding to do a full blast in a straight line have tried it and got hurt. Nowt to do with the track which you might be implying, just stupid tactics at the wrong time. There are 4 laps to each race, but some want it over during the first lap and in the last two weeks 2 riders have learned to think a bit more next time. I could ask how many riders have been badly hurt on the second bend at Owlerton. Incidentally I talked to one of the Sheffield riders tonight after the meeting, and he absolutely loved it.(note to oneself of his name for next year I think)

I heard that Havvy was prepared to take the cash, but still run the club which didn't fit in with Ged's intentions. -
Ah, it's all good fun TG, but they are right what they say. They've even surprised me at times with such strength that you feel at times they are all capable of scoring 7 or 8 every meeting. Not bad for a year of 'consolidation'.

Apparently 8 years since he last rode. I am sure with his Dad doing the settings he will get the silencer to work. Then change them. ,
