  1. Yes, with Newcastle at home on the Sunday, any arrangement of Exeter/Reading, IOW/Trelawny and Kings Lynn Wednesday wasn't a bad choice. I remember a mixed tour in 1997(our first year) when we went to Edinburgh, Stoke and Newport and won them all. It's the answer to "which team won 3 consecutive away meetings in 3 days, and in 3 different countries" ?
  2. Must concur with your comments, but unfortunately can't make it down there regularly with their Thursday race night. Must make a better effort next year and do a mini Southern Tour.
  3. He is an asset, and still on a decent average, which he is quite capable of increasing especially with a lower average team points limit. He can be frustrating at times, but not as much is he did at Redcar, where he was not accepted and performed poor at times. I think he would still be a handy signing as he can produce match winning performances like he had with 4 scores of 10+ in his 10 meetings for us..
  4. I think both you and TaylorJ might be the under performers with that comment. Since Matej joined on a 4.76 average in late June from the Bears, he has increased his average from 4.76 to 6.88, and 7.28 with bp's. Not bad for a 'failure' as you have implied.
  5. Good little meeting. The strap was still intact so I imagine it was a bit loose and ripped off without a weald mark on Dale's neck. Yes, it was the first max for Danny and we were all pleased for him. We can all trace his improvement to a certain meeting, and after that he has kicked on with a sensible head on like waiting and taking Callum after being headed into the first bends. Kean has picked up this year, and I have tried several times to get him when I have needed a guest, but Worky have been using him regularly as he is an unattached rider in this league.
  6. and your workable and affordable solution is what ? Explain your 15 years ? That would only happen if the points limit was below the 42 points limit
  7. If you had given it more thought you would realise that your solution would kill the sport in less than 1 year. Even when the big money was coming in from SKY, no team with the exception of say Poole, could afford each team to be strengthened by going with a 45 points limit. It was and isn't doable. I've sat at BSPA AGM's and listened to the pipe dreams of some clubs who, because they could afford it, the rest of their league should be made to afford it and they were only talking about 43 and 43.5 points limits. The higher the limit also increases the chance of employment with more money needed/requested by the lower riders who would then result with a lower average and would want a higher points or some form of guarantees. It would not work. Using Doyle as your conversion example is not realistic, as it is his level that we can't afford so why make him seem desirable. Could agree with your other examples but with the lower points limit only. Cut your cloth to what you can afford and produce good close racing, and that is the only sensible option on the table.
  8. Get real. It has to go down as we can't afford the stars. Competitive racing that is affordable is how we can continue to see speedway. Think any different and you are dreaming.
  9. Yes, that can be and was the picture, but after talks a few weeks ago which ended in chaos, there has been major movement and I think solutions have been found that are acceptable to most of them and are acceptable to proceed with for next year. All we need is for the solutions to be implemented and understood by the fans, especially those who only exist on here to vent their spleen at everything, and who all think they know the solutions, but of course have not got any capital involved. Desperate times sometimes needs desperate measures, but current thinking is the solutions can be affordable and robust enough to stabilise the sport. Let's give it a try for a change.
  10. Things changed greatly about 3 weeks ago.
  11. But not for long when you celebrate your birthday. Congrats and enjoy it.
  12. Interesting meeting with many Guests. Two competitions going on with the scores of the 500's going to the Meteors, and the max scores of the 125's sealing the meeting points for the Gems. The Gems were missing No 1 Josh, but the introduction of Parr, allowed him to give his best showing to date at Brough with his close pursuit of the stylish Dicken. Max's by both Archie and Danny ensured the Gems win. Nasty moment for Dale, who clipped the fence going around Douglas, his bike cartwheeling down the straight followed by his helmet. Grazed fingers the only personal damage excluding the bike damage of course. Freeman the only rider in the league to be undefeated all season in his home meetings, and ending up with the 125cc highest average in the league..
  13. With Ash being missing tonight, is he going to be OK for Brough tomorrow ?
  14. I would say yes. I think it has happened in the past in the Premiership League as was.
  15. Only if Stoney and Peter I were available. (says someone who dealt with him to try and arrange fixtures)
  16. Quite agree. He was a lovely man and when we first opened up in 1997 he often popped in on the Sunday afternoon on his bike to see how we were doing. Very instrumental in the running of Felton Training track along with Ken Marshall, now Berwick. Very sad day he died, and a good turnout for his funeral held in I think Alwinton in the valley in Northumberland. Well attended by promotions, riders and SCB officials.
  17. it was Chris Durno. The same ref who excluded Tero when Ben Barker tried to demolish him at Redcar last week. Crap ref so one can see why there were mistakes in the Junior championship. Probably on a Northern Tour and new to speedway .
  18. Yes, he has the highest average of all the 125's riders and something like 7 maximums out of 11 meetings. He is leading the BYC 150 class undefeated so far, and the final is at Newcastle on 16th September. Here's hoping.
  19. Must admit I wasn't very complimentary with the refereeing either. Gregor in the 125's hit the third bend hard, and we though possibly a collarbone, and when the others came around we got a bit concerned with no red lights on. He actually withdrew in his third ride and was obviously not feeling that well. Alex jumped the start in all his three rides and it was surprising he got away with the peak in the rising tapes. The other lad to look out for for is Luke Harrison who, along with Sam, also beat Archie when he missed the gate both times. Made no mistake in the final though with a blinder 1st and 2nd bend to fly past and take a great lead.
