  1. All new riders are given an assessed average..
  2. As you no doubt already know, yes I was. I opened up Newcastle in 1997, after investing in it in 1994, only to be told the owner didn't want speedway again at his stadium. His accountant had different ideas and bought it off him, and got in touch with our group to invite us back in. Third in our first season, we went on to sign a young Nicki Pedersen followed by Bjarne Pedersen and Kenneth Bjerre and won the PL title in 2001, and runners up on equal points in 2002. I gave my major share in the club away for free in 2003, and retired from promoting, but continued to work with the promotion and established my own free training school(10 years on now) restarting the Gems team which last season produced the NJL 500cc and 125/150 champions and the 2018 BYC 150cc champion. All riders in the current Gems team had never ridden a speedway bike before riding in the training school, so I run the only home bred team in speedway. What part of my failures do you want to concentrate on while your head is a bit fuzzy ?
  3. Take care, it looks as if it's also affecting your head.
  4. Won the league in 2010, but not the playoffs. Probably did in both in 82 and 76.
  5. We both know its NOT 'so-called' freebies. You don't go cos you have to pay to get in. You are part of the problem, like it or not.
  6. Did he not come through at the same time as Barry Campbell ? David.
  7. What a load of crap from the usual suspect. You should try paying to get in sometime.
  8. It probably will, but I seem to remember Edinburgh V Newcastle in 2010 was drawn over 2 legs, and that was decided by Golden Heats(I think the first time they were used)
  9. I think it will be Golden Heats. Might have no chance of both legs anyway.
  10. Perhaps if it was in March it might have some justification.
  11. You really done grasp it do you. As I said we became more selective and now there is a better use of the freebie tickets because of it. It's got nothing too do with odds and size of the larger population. Going to a show, you have the potential new customer in front of you, so it is best to selectively give out the freebies there and then. Do you suggest we tell said customer to look at the website when he/she gets home ? Are you for real. Remember the 4000 crowd after the freebies at Lakeside were given out en masse. Brilliant answer, so they are all allegedly going to bring a friend eh. See previous answer about Lakeside. When I read some of the comments on threads like this, I often wonder if maybe the promoters are still the best to run the sport.
  12. What is the relevance of that observation ? Once again in denial that you said it. I am a very grown up man, and still with full senses, unlike you with your convenient memory lapses. You kid no one.
  13. it's not only childish, but for your part your version is untrue. You never got sick of speedway and stopped going. You, by your own words on here sometime ago, stated that once you stopped doing your notes you were asked to pay to get in like everyone else. You took umbridge with BV, because you are not a freebie any more, and therefore have stayed away rather than pay to get in. Your story has been repeated on many threads you go on, and each time conveniently try to concoct a different angle why you don't go to speedway. But your real reason, you revealed yourself a couple of years and you ave been in denial ever since. Put into a boxing context, you regularly get knocked out and lose, but always try to restart the fight as if nothing had been stated before.
  14. To not believe what you were told, is you showing your lack of knowledge. I attend every show/event that Newcastle puts on around our area, and the 'free' tickets used to regularly turn up at the gate being used by a regular fan. When we talk to a member of the public, and there is a hint of a friend/relative that goes to speedway, the 'free' tickets stay in my pocket and they are not on offer. Even more so if there is a family ticket for 4 people being used for that promotion. Your third line is pure theory, not fact..
  15. He certainly has but I think he has been very frustrated at times. Very much a hands on promoter, he used to have Jitenda to take some of the load off him, but with him stepping down on health grounds, it has been back to Kevin to run the show with Jade looking after the NJL team. Interesting the comment above about Ged, as he did first try to buy into Redcar, but would not on Havvy's terms so he went elsewhere. He is there every Thursday, and still has the same people around him that he has been with for a couple of decades now so he would not be short of support. Let's hope the Gladders want to carry on and, together with CVS, get a promoter in position to do the planning for next year.
  16. Think I was there for that one. Presumably held the night before the Cardiff GP ?
  17. Depends on what nights you visited both venues on. Generally Newcastle has the biggest gate, and Redcar has their biggest gate when Newcastle are the visitors. Redcar gates look up and the Newcastle promotion have said gates have held this year, but are actively looking for more support. Redcar of course has no large stadium rent like Newcastle has, and does not need the larger number of track workers due to a fixed air fence and no dog track to cover. Be a shame if another promoter can't be found, remembering Jitendra resigned ar Team manager during the year due to health problems, so that could rule him out from continuing or stepping back up. Let's hope they do run as we both need each other. NB. This was expected due to a post that Kevin put on his Facebook page late on Saturday night. He had a whisky bottle in front of him with a glass, saying now that his speedway and rugby is over it was time for pastures new. Thought it was the drink talking, and it was still there middle of the week.
  18. I remember some hard riding in the Friday night meetings at Newport on the Friday before the Cardiff GP's.
  19. Andre had many meetings for you as a guest one year. Strangely he also went on a Northern Tour with your team, I think Tim liked his tenacious riding in those days.
  20. That's me. I put them on the Youth section to increase the awareness of our NJL and my team, and it also gives MIMMO another stream to allow him to calculate his averages. If I can, I also put on the others teams results, but it's usually my own team, Newcastle Gems results, that I concentrate on.
  21. Well done Worky. Tony must of had words with them and got them motivated.
