I might be down for the Young Lions BYC round. The MDL of course will be using the main track I think. Good little meetings.

What's the problem with having the air fence, as half of the gap instead a void.
-
In advance of our new fence about three years ago, my winter team and I moved about 30 posts leading into and exiting the 1st and 2nd turns in order that the air fence fitted into the curves with no jutting out at the start or the coming out. The wedge piece coming of the 2nd turn is in a straight-line with straight mesh fence. Been passed every year, and by every ref since during the season.

Last time I was there with the Diamonds, they held a junior meeting races slotted in between the heats of the main meeting. i thought that was not allowed, but apparently it used to be a regular feature at Swindon, and I assume it was because they were not using the main track. Still an usually feature, but the more you think about it it's not so silly. Down to the referees permission I suppose.

Birmingham Brummies 2019
Tsunami replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Must admit I'm not a great fan of Ulrich but I don't seem to recall him having bad machines whilst riding for Redcar. Maybe a one off but it needs to be watched. -
Good trackman. He created Redcar out of nothing.
-
Technically speaking the two metres can be from the front of the obstruction, i.e, lights standard or wall, to the front of the air panel.
-
Exactly my thinking, and the reason for asking.
-
Who designed the new track shape and who is doing all the track remedial work.

At the end of the day, IRR was introduced so the paying public would as least be treat to the same level as they had paid for. It tries to match the teams, instead of a team using reserves and makes the races a mockery and a good meeting is spoiled. In saying that, most tactical rules should only apply to the top 2 divisions, and let the NL to use reserves.

Team Suits and/or Race Jackets

LIke him or hate him, he did try things to spruce things up. -
Is that Graeme Trollope ?

Interesting response. Care to explain how they are going to cope with the 11% increase in averages which will naturally increase from their start averages. The natural level playing field would tell you that all meetings this year are going to generate combined averages per teams with an 11% increase, i'e, 42points.
-
I think instead they tinkered with rolling averages, which evened out the scores and limited the extent and affect of average fiddling. Still happens of course.

I think I heard on here that houses have been built on the old pits area. Rumour was that the new house owners were likely to make a legal challenge, as the track would not be on their doorstep on the maps when they bought their house. It was pointed out that might be exactly what the developer wants so speedway and dogs could not return, and they then might be able to build even mores , and get more profit from the site of course.

Generally though it is thought that grading systems create more difficulties and unfairness. Say a grade 6 to 7.5 was one being used, and you can have two riders within that band, one richer team is going to have 2 X 7.50 =15 and a poorer team is going to end up with 2 x 6 = 12. Someone already has a 3 points average on the lower team, and that could happen in each band. At least with averages they are definate and exact, and every team has the same opportunity to build to a common points level, and the opportunity to build top end strength or all over strength which would be your choice. In grading, any team changes, presumably the current riders would be in the grade they have ridden into that year, and you could see situations when you have lost points in each grade, and still be locked in to the riders you signed in that grade.
-
I think that once the season starts, The team strength will be adjusted to 42 points, that being the number of points possible for the purpose of averages with the 11% increase from 38.

I think Newcastle Diamonds have come out of this situation quite well. I know many people had doubts of certain team members, whilst others reassured us that our riders would be OK once given the chance to get used to our technical track. What's happened has happened, but bringing in Stevie again has pleased everyone, and whilst I would have gone for MacDonald, Simon should be a useful addition especially away on the bigger tracks. Remember the chance that was given to Matty W last year, and how he overcome his lack of racing and in many meetings proved to be as good as a heatleader. If he can continue in the same vein next year, Simon adds a few points, Max produces some winning rides and Danny beats his opposite numbers, I honestly think the team can go places injuries permitting. As others have said, heat 13 and 15 could be tied up in our favour in both home and away meetings so as long as the rest chip in, we will do OK. Also Gems to win the NJL this year.
-
Thanks for that. There is a reason why it might be Simon.

Just hope the Visa situation for Josh could be overcome to get the lad to ride for us.

I was only there once in 1963(it's last year but I didn't realise that at the time). I loved it and the racing was great. It didn't ride like a circle like Somerset, but could be ridden very fast for a small track, I would image it could be ridden by big and small track riders alike. I suppose a bit like Mildenhall. Without being racist and controversial, it was a big shock for me and my mate visiting New Cross and seeing everyone coloured until we went into the Post Office and got serve by a white guy. It was a shock and eyeopener for someone who comes from Newcastle/North East and had never seen that before at home.

Yes I agree. Last year we took big time to the riding of Edinburgh's Josh Pickering, and he was on everyone's wanted list for this year. He was a free riding rider flying around the boards at Brough, of all places, similar to Ludde on a good night. Here we have a situation of a similar rider, praised by those who have actually seen him last year, and he is over here with a patriality visa, with bikes, and ready to ride, and we gain an asset. What's there not to like.

Thank goodness. JBA and Lasse were old teammates at Redcar in 2017. That have a history of riding each out, and there has been track incidents both at Redcar and away. Get’s a bit feisty at time. Quite pleased JBA doesn’t fit.

JBA and Lasse would be a reunion to watch. Did you mean MBA ?
