  1. All you have to do is look at Facebook with George English explaining they had taken off 13 tankersfull, and the water at about 1.00pm with three quarters of the track still under water. We have had tremendous floods this week and we are denied access to the track by the stadium owners, we could only start the track preparation easy this morning. Jonny can make decent tracks after heavy rain during the week, but the monsoon weather is just too much to get a safe racing strip even though it is warm outside ATTM. Add in more rain forecast for 5.00pm and the situation doesn't need any justification. With your probs, today was a meeting waiting to be won by the Diamonds.
  2. Don't need to, it was all within the rules. The crowd wouldn't have liked it if he hadn't made it back, and then found out he could have. Hats off to Robert.
  3. Yes, but in speedway there is a shortage of riders so guests are necessary. The fans that complain about guests would be the first fans to complain, and stop going, when a NL junior replaces their match winner number 1 for that meeting. At least with guests the teams can meet on a comparative basis instead of being under strength. Football can afford to have reserves who sit on the bench awaiting their chance.
  4. If they ask yes, but so many fans feel it is necessary to unload their prejudices at the earliest opportunity. Take someone to a football game you don't start talking about 2nd and 3rd phases in an offside situation do you. Or about a player playing for one of the clubs, who belongs to another club, but he is on loan.
  5. But the point being made was that a guest had to be in another teams 1 to 7. That's sensible, as if it wasn't, a team could bring in say a former Premier rider and then that would be be clamped down on and the existing rule installed to stop it happening again. Rules usually have a good reason behind them. Why does every rule have to be explained to new people in the sport anyway. It tends to be just passing on peoples prejudices.
  6. 2002 and 2003, best prospect around at the time.
  7. Thanks for that Nodlew, it brought back so many memories to me personally. What it didn't say was the difficulties we were working under with the stadium situation. In about July/August the Stadium owner, and one of our partners, Eric Armstrong, went into receivership and we eventually, after new arrangements, were allowed to complete our season under the direction of KPMG. It was a very stressful situation whilst the stadium was put up for sale, and it took till the January, 1998 before a sale was agreed. We knew there was 3 potential buyers, so we had declared to the BSPA we were running at the 1997 AGM, and were included in the drafts for the 1998 fixture lists. The sale was completed and announced in January, 1998 but on the 1st April(I kid you not) a letter dropped though our postbox saying that we had been fined a large sum for not being able to confirm we were to run at the AGM. Dave Rowland, Promoter.
  8. We were offered Ulrich in about 2004/5 on an 8 average, and decided not to take him.
  9. He had a bike with yellow covers and blue writing on, but no KBS on the fork covers. He had KBS on his chest on his Kevlars similar to the 2019 ones.
  10. I've dealt with a promoter who used to allow his rider to guest for us, but also state the terms so we are not paying him more than he was.
  11. And it was such a disaster in the mid 90's that the then PL have to be created to keep clubs in business.
  12. Tony Adkin would presumably be one of them.
  13. Best bet I think would be Barry Wallace in the box or Bob Boardman who sits with him. See him on Sunday before the meeting.
  14. It was me BOBBATH that said that as that is what the promoter of the time said, Mike Parker. So sad cos he was a lovely man and my favourite rider at the time.
  15. I didn't know that. We were offered him in about 2005 as we were having great problems signing an unattached best leader midseason. I believe he was Hungarian and about 30ish but rode on the continent regularly at weekends, so it was a non runner anyway. Could never remember which is his first or last name.
  16. Hi Bloom. If you go to John Skinner's excellent website "newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk" is shows all the teams and riders that have ridden for the Diamonds, and some biogs supplied by the riders themselves.
  17. You must be joking. Another one of your Theories, like it's no good going to schools and shows and handling out flyers as nobody uses them.
  18. The point being discussed was about me not admitting to his improvement which I have. Time for you to move on.
