I know, but they are the rules of speedway and Grant will have had to follow the rules.
-
Was that just on paper to make it easier for him, and are you sure they both went through the required interview and investigation for new appointees. ?
-
There are some who believe he didn't lose that much after all. Given the profits from the catering, and plus the begging bowl (twice), it would have lessened the amount to an acceptable level to put through his business.
-
No, just telling the truth.
-
Yes but he didn't do a good job did he ? He has very good at selling burgers/chips but, with his restricted investment in the team, even his food income dwindled dramatically and the usual queues quickly disappeared. Took us for mugs and both years he thought we would support any crap that he put on the track for the Diamonds. Now lords it big at Berwick wearing his Diamonds jacket. Oh the irony.
-
In addition, many fans were not convinced with Rob and felt his about turn to run was rather convenient.
-
No chance of 100 people putting up £1000 anywhere.
-
I would attend with a friend TG.

Great news. Common sense to get Speedway back at Armadale. The land owners were never going to sell the land for the price asked, so it's good news on both sides to continue with speedway.
-
Yes I read an announcement that there was an intention to hold a Get together meeting in November, and was waiting for the date and venue.
-
When I was was with the Diamonds, I used the figure of 63% of all admissions were full paying adults for planning and from analysis.

Edinburgh - new home required….

Anybody got a weather update as to the chances of the Devils V Colts meeting taking place tonight. ?. -
The forecast is much better tomorrow. It is a no brainer to cancel today and plan for tomorrow. A start at about 2 or 3 o clock tomorrow would be even better,
-
Not true. If Edinburgh can confirm it is off early, Colts riders, management, sponsors and supporters can do something useful today and make new plans to travel tomorrow. Why travel and end up sleeping in vans or having to book into a hotel.
-
Period of mourning. No sport activities.

Tim Stone of Newport tried several attempts to put a speedway meeting on for a few years during the Xmas period. I think some had to be cancelled because of snow. That would be late 90's and early 00's. -
I would suggest that he paid that as a sponsor for free attendance and advert in the programme.

Has anybody had any proof that it was said the Grant claimed the wages of the catering from Newcastle Speedway, but put the catering income through his catering account. If true, is that not illegal especially when the speedway account goes bust, and the takings not taken into account to pay creditors.
-
Grant has certainly come out of this smelling of roses. A large creditor himself, and no sign of the GoFund money, Where is all the money he has coined in recently for the disposal of track equipment. And of course all of the food income has probably already been through his own account. Talking to someone yesterday and they thought Rob would not have lost anything given where all the loose change money that is not identified. Even got himself down as a creditor getting a share of the £6000 assets available. Rob Grant, the worst Promoter Speedway has ever had.

No. But he was in a van not a Carr.
-
Likewise for checking engines. A ride with a suspected 'big' engine tends to be tested more by careful selection. I think it still gets out and the rider puts another engine in that conforms. A well known rider at the top of his game reputed to be riding a big engine. Sure enough he was selected, but he just smirked his way throughout the examination. I suggest his club tipped him off. Our rider that was chosen was Dickie Juul. He knew why the other rider was suspected but as he claimed, why should it cost me £400 to put my engine back together when I only get £50 as the rules dictated. I must admit for the first time I agreed with him.
-
Yes, there was a plan by Sir John Hall to create a Sporting club for the city.
-
NO not true. One Aussie in the 90s at Brough was obviously under the influence, and the club withdrew him when he "sprained his back" getting the tools out of the van. it would be ludicrous if he wasn't picked and rode whilst 2 others were tested and clean. Now that would be when he would have got away with it.
-
Yes thanks, got it the wrong way around. Barry at Worky was better in the box, as he didn't seen to have the same confidence when out with the mic on the centre green. I've known Barry since his first stint in the 60 's at Newcastle, and played Darts with him for many years in the 60's.
-
He was at St James Park for awhile working alongside Alan Robson of "Night Owl, Fame from Metro Radio. Something happened with Alan, and Barry was then dropped as well with a new presenter coming in.

Any rider can be tested if there are strong reasons to believe he would be dangerous in a racing situation. What would be the point of just testing random riders and finding them drug free, when others could strongly suggest another rider would definitely fail the test.
