  1. Yep. Simon Stead and Adam are cousins.
  2. I know Guy is Granddad, Nicky son, and Adam is grandson. Not sure about the rest though.

    Rob Grant

No. It's the same R Grant jnr. Newcastle to Berwick to Stoke. R Grant snr last ride probably early/mid 90's.
  4. Interesting to see the number of fathers that were riding that have sons riding now. Tomicek, Stancl and Ondrasik. Spoke to Pavel in Wenceslas Square Prague GP weekend 2006 and he was saying he wanted to come back this year. Nice lad.
  5. Like Jack O Diamonds, I remember Brian with fond memories. He had a dashing style riding Brough with a big track style and with his 'bars forward. He always looked cheerful and delivered the goods. RIP Brian.
  6. Did exactly the same thing before the Cardiff GP. Was in the Walkabout bar till yon hours with all the other drunks, including me.
  7. The Newcastle Chronicle is quoting George English as saying that Stancl will have to declare tonight if he is fit enough to compete at Sheffield. Stancl returned home to the Czech Republic during the week to see his doctor. He is still unsure and may then have to be replaced. Christian is still injured, James may not be available so I hope the replacement will be Pepe Franc. He will do himself and the club justice and hopefully end our disappointing season on a higher note.
  8. spin king Certainly would. It would be much fairer but financial considerations always stop it.
  9. The venues for events won't be decided until the BSPA AGM in November.
  10. Think SCB is hankering for an invite for next year. Bet he's like a lost puppie. You arrive at your apartment and he'll be sitting on the doorstep waiting to be let in. He's not daft is he(don't answer that) The apartments on offer are great for a party of friends who are happy to be with each other. Our apartment could have slept 6 but my wife and I, ginga doughta and boyfriend just used two of the bedrooms. Other blond doughta should be available next year after final medical exams so it looks like the same apartment next year.
  11. Many congrats to Lubos for his heroic efforts last night. He was my star of the night. Anybody notice he raised his arm after the last race and then tried dismally to get the bike up. Nevermind Lubos, next time. After the meeting he said "I smile", now that's progress. Newcastle and Oxford were well represented last night and Lubus knew he had some great support.
  12. Puma Josef 'Pepe' Franc George Stancl Frank Sitera ?
  13. SCB "Too much of a good thing is a bad thing" Yea, the wife keeps reminding me.
  14. All Panic yesterday when I got an email from our apartment manager. He stated that our apartment would not now be available because "Truhlarska don't flowing a watter during your stay". Great. He also went on to say that he had changed our booking to a brand new apartment in a better location off Karlova. Phew. So after you have all got drunk in the Old Square it's all back to our place.
  15. Tsunami + 3 Bugger. I was going to Prague to get away from SCB. Bet he gets on about Grieves and Collins the actor.
  16. Jim With due respect, there are very few people in speedway who have achieved what Eric has and is still doing in Speedway. His brother may have been a better rider but that's all he was, a rider. There have also been better riders than Nigel and they still would not warrant writing and selling their life story. Eric has done it on every stage in speedway and in his own way. You obviously have never been in his company and heard him spin his yarns and exploits, sometimes with Ian Thomas, and keep a group amused for ages. He has a roughness that some don't take to but nevertheless he is one of the great characters in modern speedway. Borrow his book and be entertained.
  17. Remember at Hyde Road the fans in the middle of the straights used to hang over the fence with their programme boards lined up against their right eye. Clever.
  18. Think SCB will be getting excited at the possibilty of his return to Newport. Hope it all goes well for the lad.
  19. Afraid George Stancl will not be there as he will be riding at Workington in the Re-arranged KOC meeting with Newcastle.
  20. Would love to have gone to this one but I have the Diamonds versus Worky at Brough after the TOON versus Liverpool. Best of luck Sean, hope all goes well this time.
  21. SCB He was a lovely well mannered lad with a lovely girlfriend called Anu. Last time I heard they had a little one, sex unknown. Our chinchilla is named after him even though he is a she. He was a brilliant gater and would not have been passed at Newport. My spies tell me that the track at Reading those days was deliberately slick to satisfy him.
