  1. Remember at some stage Brough Park and its associated area will be developed.
  2. The Reuben brothers are massive quality property developers, who are involved all major developments in the Newcastle city centre. They are the lead developers for the Pilgrim Street development which, with their quality, would completely change the scene in Newcastle. Alleged to also be involved in the ownership of Brough Park which is notionally owned by the owners of the Newcastle Racecorse in Gosforth.
  3. It was Steve. He was a Post Office person, and he left to go down to the Humberside area. Walked around a lot, good voice and content with black hair. I remember he came back for a little while, while we were stuck, Newcastle's own version of the "Guest' system. He was with us though the 90's and early 00's I think. I thought he was very professional.
  4. Trying to remember his name. Can you remember it.?
  5. I remember when he first started at Redcar and no-one had a good word for him and his humour. It was noticible that he toned his accent down, and more people took to him. He is good at filling in as shown, along with Dalbers, when he lost over an hour at Brough when the we had the horror crash of Greaves and Palm Toft horror crash on the back straight.
  6. Quite agree and I bought it every Saturday. I see now that there is a thin column about our meeting on Sunday in tonights Chronicle. No photo but.
  7. So was anything about the meeting in the Journal on Monday. I'm an ex Parsons worker BTW.
  8. Yes thanks. Bloody annoyed that the Chronicle didn't carry a full report and pictures tonight about the classic race off last night at Brough. Plenty of TOON and Mackem fillers, and other minor sports, but nothing about our meeting final which was a national final after all. Could be we didn't send things in to them, but that would be so unusual for us. We should and need to publicise big events like this regardless of who won.
  9. I did say we have regularly dished out the inside line, but there is only so far you can go and as can be seen we already have severe flooding when it rains. Any shale that does breach the track sheets is all taken off by hand after the sheets are removed after the meeting. We are in trouble if we don’t.
  10. We(George and I ) took the 1st and 2nd bends in 2 metres in about 1998, as it was too tight and it opened the corners up. It's now 12 metres wide with the 3rd and 4th bends 14 metres. The danger with taking the bends in is, that while the bends get wider and therefore the straights slightly shorter, it does damage the drains on the kerbs and takes something off the banking which we have constantly dished in around the inside line, as the stadium owners have never let us increase the height of the outside track and the fence, as they believe the doggy punters have to see the doggies legs during the race. I calculated that even an increase of 18inches still allows this to happen, but they won't budge and of course it could be costly. I think it would improve racing, making it a bit more like a big track than a very small track. Redcar has decent banking at both ends. This is what has happened at Glasgow, and that has improved the racing very much so this year.
  11. George in his programme notes last night said :- "As for 2020, well at this present time it's too early to say however I would just like to say that it has been a total pleasure to oversee Newcastle Speedway in the longest period of continued operation in it's history, these past 23 years have flown over, we have had many successes in that time but the actual 23 years is the important thing to me. And my sincere wish is that period extends to 24 years even if someone else is at the helm the club." Hope that helps.
  12. if you had put your glasses on, you might notice I have already been on before you. Through illness I wan't there last night, but my family were, and I followed it on the Updates. Well done to Redcar, who have improved the side as they has gone on, something we haven't. Maybe a lesson there. Great to hear there was such a massive crowd las night, and along with a big crowd comes a great atmosphere. Very please to hear that Redcar fans turned up, because whilst we always give Redcar their top gates , Redcar historically don't at Brough. Enjoy your success as quite frankly they have deserved success this year through the efforts of good management, and riders who were prepared to ride. Didn't look that good early in the season, but astute management got then to what they have achieved in the Playoffs and now the KO cup. Congrats to all. Not surprised about George's revelations, but for the sake of Newcastle Speedway, I hope he stays on in a senior role and that others ae prepared to listen to his advice. Roy stepping down from his 'Ramblings' in the programme I can live with, but it does mean there is going to be a new feel about not year. Where does that leave Dalbers ? I hope this is all for the better.
  13. Not there. Just had an OP and not taking any chances.
  14. Looks like we have new owners next year, and George hoping he's still involved. I wonder who that is ?
  15. Let's hope he is not on a guarantee, and gets paid by the points scored.
  16. It's all guesses anyway, as who knows what the final numbers are going to be in each league. That will be agreed at the AGM then we will know rather than guess.
  17. IF and it's a big IF, Berwick do go Premier that would make it better for Glasgow to move up as well I would have thought. Both would have a local derby in a near Southern League.
  18. Was TED the late Shazzybirds uncle. She was always on about Uncle Ted if I remember right.
