Brilliant news. If any promotion deserves success it is you guys. Best of luck. -
New Rule With Warnings In Sweden.
Tsunami replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Despite that I still think it is a good idea. How many times have you seen a rider try a manouver which was decidedly risky and only just pulls it off. If it hadn't come off both the rider in question and his opponent could have had a ride to the hospital. Same with football when say someone does a high tackle but the other player jumps up just in case. The intent was still there and only by the evasive action of the other player prevented a major injury. The consistency of the refs and their judgements would be the reason why it would not work. Perhaps for a trial the refs could call the offending rider to the phone and warn him that he thought his riding was out of order and he would take action in future. The rider would know that he was being held accountable and was walking a tight rope. Worth a try. -
You haven't seen the speedway team yet.

Here, Here.

Well done Nicki. Does nothing controversial, is on the rough end of some rough riding by his fellow countryman, and still comes in second. Some rider, some World Champion. The people's choice.

Quite agree Steve. I thought that Hans seemed a touch down on power all night but made good gates and rode clever lines to block attempts to pass him. I think that like everyone else, including Hans, that Lee would try the outside because of the track and Lee's usual style. He was caught out big style and I think Hans was embarrassed to have been caught out so easy. I think the accusations of 'sulking' are way off beam, just a professional rider being guilty of losing a GP through a simple own goal.

A bit of licence in that statement. Apart from you and orion, just about everyone else is stating that it was just a racing accident pure and simple. He tried a manouver that happens every meeting/race at Peterborough, as Star Lady has said, but caught the kerbing and paid the price. Nicki excluded, end of. If it had been Bjarne, Lee, Mark there would not have been a problem or this 'debate'.

lupus having another 'debate' about Nicki. Quit when you're behind.

Chris Harris was like as breath of fresh air to the GP scene last night. The way he took his chances with skill and tactical awareness means he has now come of age and fully deserves his inclusion in the GP by right. For his sake, and Britains, I hope this is the real start to his future.

Date Set For Opener In Spain
Tsunami replied to motospeedway-espana's topic in International World of Speedway
Very pleased that you have been able to and have completed your project. You must have had your doubts but you have overcome everything and that first meeting is planned. I do hope this is a success for you and your partner and becomes the regular warm weather training camp that so many desire. -
Not too sure of the division between Modern MotoX and Scrambling. Ivan Mauger rode in meetings during the 60's, Paul Fry, Richard Green, Paul Pickering, Richard Hall in latter years.

I remember Gary's first rides at Brough Park. It was at the Press and Practice day at the start of the 1968 season. I think he had only just arrived in this country and been rushed up to Brough. He looked the scruffiest rider ever and seemed very impatient to show what he could do. After several laps and races he was coming round the 4th bend, with full power on, and just lost it hurtling into the fence. He probably missed the start of the season as I think he injured his wrist. Little rider with bags of guts.

German Gp Confirmed
Tsunami replied to German Speedway Fan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think they've already said the stadium is unavailable in March, but I can't check because someone has taken the Speedway Star to bed with them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Subtle. -
Yes, he joined Sunderland when they opened up and then joined the Diamonds with Peter Kelly as his regular partner. I think he joined us in the year we won the PL before amalgamation(1964) or the year before. Was a tidy steady rider and was followed into the sport by his son Paul Sharples.

If you don't want to throttle him, can I do it instead.
-
NO. You and SCB. Why not.
-
Throat more likely.

Real shame this. How are young Danes going to get team experience when they have nowhere to go after 16 years old and the smaller engines. There must be a quick compromise even in an even shorter season. A program of challenges and individual meetings will only satisfy some of the teams. What happens to the DMU and the collective assets of all the clubs. Bad times.

Yep. Simon Stead and Adam are cousins.
-
I know Guy is Granddad, Nicky son, and Adam is grandson. Not sure about the rest though.
-
No. It's the same R Grant jnr. Newcastle to Berwick to Stoke. R Grant snr last ride probably early/mid 90's.
-
Interesting to see the number of fathers that were riding that have sons riding now. Tomicek, Stancl and Ondrasik. Spoke to Pavel in Wenceslas Square Prague GP weekend 2006 and he was saying he wanted to come back this year. Nice lad.

Like Jack O Diamonds, I remember Brian with fond memories. He had a dashing style riding Brough with a big track style and with his 'bars forward. He always looked cheerful and delivered the goods. RIP Brian.
