  1. But only if the BSPA ratify such a weak/product which I am sure they will not.
  2. Nothing surprises me with what happens at Plymouth, with the exception that MB is still allowed to be the promoter.
  3. Anybody foreign basically. Gave both Bjarne and KB some hard times when we went to Sheffield. Surprised he rode with Kessler with no problems.
  4. No it's not. Given a split of 63% of the crowd being adults, 37% concessions at say average £10:- 0.63 X 1500 X £16 = £15,120 0.37 X 1500 X £10 = £ 5,550 Total £20,670 plus proggies £1,000.
  5. Since when was the total crowd all adults paying full money. Use a figure like 63% of the total being adult, and the rest are paying concession rates, which are usually a lot lower. Experience. Also 1,500 X £16 is actually £24,000. Don't apply for the Finance Directors job BTW.
  6. So the correct holder of the Mr Smug tag is ........ There is a world of difference between what WILL happen and what someone thinks should happen. Mr Smug implies what should happen IHO, when in fact, I would bet my clammy jockstrap against his beard clipper, that what I said WILL happen, and Glasgow WILL get a transfer fee or a loan free for young Morris. It's a bit loose to try to bring in Philip Rising, the Managing Director of the Speedway Star, who supports the change regarding assets, but he did not state or imply that Glasgow WILL NOT be getting anything, or ZILCH, as Mr Smug would try to imply. These are the present rules and that was the discussion. Thank You.
  7. Link didn't work for me John. Looked at the items mention tho on the site, seems like everyone had to have a tab in their hand when photographed. Agree about the point of the track looking like Brough Park, had to have another look just in case.
  8. Just to add Brown V Mauger Mauger talks about it in his recent biography. Nicki V Watson Killer racing in 1998, just as well they were in different leagues straight after that.
  9. Congrats to all at Berwick for being awarded this prestigous event. Great reward for the changes made by the Promotion.
  10. Would Klindt be allowed to drop down with a EL 6.56 current average. IMO Klindt would not be prepared to drop down at this stage in his career. He is very much on the way up, not on the way down.
  11. Yes, Mauger often says "if you can ride Brough you can ride any track". 4 World Champions is not bad. Mauger, Anders, Olsen and Nicki.
  12. That's correct, and his brother Alan mentions that fact in his recently issued book. Brough is quite a hard track to ride but once you have mastered it, you are a far better rider. (thoughts from Ivan) It has tight corners, with very long straights, and you need to be able to pull hard on the bars to control the drift and then back up the straight. It's a bit like BV, but with better track preparation.
  13. I remember Kenny when he was at Newcastle as a 16 year old. At one meeting, possibly the last meeting of the season, he was messing about on a little PeeWee type bike doing wheelies and spins like a maestro. He looked so comfortable and controlled, you could see he had a natural affinity to riding a bike.
  14. Obviously a post made very much 'tongue in cheek'
  15. Sadly not screm, as me and wor lass are off on another cruise. We are driving straight up from Gatwick to Brough on the 16th, when you are also there, so we might see you about midmeeting, a little knackered. If there are any potential burglars out there, the ginga youngin and partner will still be living there.
  16. Except a certain wjm, who was going to sort me out last year. Stood in my usual away spot, about 30 metres away from his monthly occasional spot, and never seen him yet. People should knock this 'say that to my face' lark on the head, as it just makes them look stupid.
  17. Maurice Tate is an Uncle of the current Swales boys and currently works on the start gate at Redcar. I used to watch both Maurice and his brother, another Jackie I think, scrambling at the now defunct scramble track at Belmont, Co Durham in the late 50's. Maurice always won, but if he didn't then Jackie usually did. That was unless a Lampkin was visiting. I used to ride my bicycle down from Newcastle to each meeting.
  18. That would be Jackie then. His nephew Jonathan Swales is the track curator at Newcastle and was the Conference League Champion riding for Mildenhall in the late 90's.
