Cycle Speedway
Tsunami replied to Richspeedway's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
The Newcastle Cycle speedway has reformed, found a track and are currently in hard practice with some taking it very serious with new bikes and things. No new members but olduns giving it another go. Seem to be enjoying themselves. -
Now he can be a gas fitter that doesnt turn up.
-
Althought it does sound very much like the usual Boxall. When was the last time that he owned his own bikes.
-
And yet on another thread, people think it's a disgrace that Ryan was twiddling his thumbs with no teamplace. As you know, there's always a reason why someone hasn't been signed. Full employment of riders just increases demands further.

Luv your photo Nevs, haven't aged a day. -
Signing Jason is a brlillant move for Scunny and for Jason. There is none as keen and approachable as Jason and he will be great for Scunny. I hinted earlier that he might not be able to continue if he gets a PL berth, but apparently the rules are changed as the limit for NL inclusion is now 6. He has been to Northside earlier this year and was supposed to be riding in a private session this Saturday at Scunny with Danny and a few of us from Newcastle. Unfortunately the weather has damaged the track so no riding on Saturday now. I believe he has a new date to come down again but I won't post it on here. He played in our 5 a side footie match last week and showed no sign of any injury, and had no probs to report afterwards. If you want to see him in action at the footie try "Newcastle Speedway 5 a side group". He's the one in the white top.

I understand what you are saying. Both riders rode for Brum in the previous years and Sweetman had a great year, whilst Sedgeman started brilliantly but faded midseason. They both showed promise but unfortunately, things just did not not pick up for them last year. That something that was missing, was thought to be homesickness, which must be frustrating to try to overcome. We could all agree that they should have taken time out and gone home to restart their careers say in 2012, but we are talking speedway riders here. In their minds, they would think that another club will be the 'home' they are looking for to get back to where they were. As they were in the UK, it was natural that they give it a go prior to the plan to go home after the season had finished. It must have been a very troubled situation for both of them.

I think he originally implied he needed to have a break, but miraculously, he seemed to have signed for Glasgow way too sharpish.
-
Did that not change when the conversion factor changed from 50% to 60% between the PL and the EL.
-
Interestingly, Berwick have 8.40 to replace Kozza and Ricky's average is 8.39. Hmmm.
-
It's very rewarding actually. Half the number already work on racenight so already get in for nowt. The other half are from the training school and do it because they get free track time during the season. Still pay to get into the meetings.

Actually me and about 8 others have been to Brough Park all day painting both sides of the kickboards. Just got to make some new ones, take out and replace a lot of fenceposts, replace some netting, nail on all the kickboards, paint the pits, put the poly sheeting on the fence and do a dozen other jobs. That'll be our time taken up every Sunday until Practice day. Do folks think the fairies do it all.
-
Well, there's usually someone on his back.
-
Also seem him can't be ersed to race and just dropped out. Terrible for a number 1 rider. Been around long enough to know the traits of Ricky and not mixing him up with someone else.(haven't got rick in my name either)
-
I agree with you. I think it is all in his head and, when he has to, he is very capable on all tracks.
-
It's not that long ago that he got a 15 point max at Brough. Had some shocking meetings afterwards, often just pulling up on the centre green when in last place.
-
England, as he appears to have been riding bikes here every summer, which is at least 8 months of a year. Who were you thinking about.
-
....and Newcastle 1986 ish.

Only works

Yes it is Chris. I was explaining a personal licence for someone to promote before. The rights to run speedway at a venue has a cost, agreed between the seller and buyer.
-
A promoters licence can't be bought. A prospective person, attached to a track, applies for a promoters licence and is investigated and interviewed at Rugby by members of the MC. If found suitable he is awarded a promoters licence. A track may have up to 3 promoters at any one time.
-
That is the usual situation.

Quite agree HT. Never been a fan of Cockle's, except as a young Rye House NL rider, but he did ride as well as I have seen him on his last visit to BP with Plymouth. Was controlled, safe and gated well for a performance that made him probably their third best rider on the night. I know half the team that night were NL riders, but he was still impressive.
