  1. OR Someone has liked Speedway after his first visit, and because of your hatred of the sport, you can't believe why he does not share your extreme views. Take your pick .
  2. Quite true Spinny and some of those (Emil, Shane,Joel) were more to do with the combination with Malcolm's assets.
  3. If you are interested, the Newcastle Speedway Supporters Club are hoping to run a bus to Leicester, then the 4's at Peterborough, with an overnight stay at a local hotel. Check st the tables stand at the end of the main stand next Sunday, and ask for Malcolm Douglas.
  4. After the banana slides of recent weeks, this seemed to be the meeting that would get us back track. Unfortunately it took till heat 5 before the score of a heat was a fair reflection of the actual riding. Henry's engine failure on a 5-1, Kerr's off when his throttle struck, Luddi's puncture on a 5-1, Schramm's rearing after holding off Bunyan and the awkward Lambert for 3 3/4 laps, had meant we were 2 points down instead of 17-6 in front. After that we gated and won easily with only Mellgren giving any real opposition. Very poor for a Rye House side who for years were a team to watch out for in the same way as Sheffield, Edinburgh, IOW, etc. How times change eh. Very pleased to see Luddi back to his best, although his flirtation with the 4th bend fence was becoming to cause the old ticker to stop at times.Christian sold again, same for Kerr after a possibly dangerous off hurtling into the third bent with his throttle stuck open and only stationary just before the fence. Lucky Kerr last night, but he wasn't injured and that was the main thing. Schramm would not have been my first choice to replace Steve, but after his good debut at Somerset when he was the only Diamond to improve on his average, the expectations were a tad higher and I hoped he could stay on the bike. I say that cos I was at Berwick two weeks ago and balance was not exactly Chris's speciality. Last night showed he could gate, he could fight, he could delay better riders and also stay on his bike to secure two decent 2nd places. Welcome to the team Chris, the team suit is in the post. Lastly of course we have the maximum men Andrew and Richie, although they were earned with different situations on the track. Andrew had to work hard in his 4 ride paid one and did wonders to shield off Lyyke whilst nursing a slowing Kerr in heat 12, and only just managed to put his bike in a position to stop ma run of Lyyke to the line. Great team riding and lovely to see. Richie, pure class and, even when pushed out on the first bend just wound it on and coasted past the other riders. This guy is untroubled class and it has been great to see him week after week, from the beginning to this now almost finished product. Robbo seemed a bit down especially when he got his slide into the first bend all wrong in heat 10 but remounted unhurt, and then looking down at his engine during heat 13. Good think was the he come out immediately after heat 15 to test it, and was joined by Schramm on his second bike First one not good to turn and he switched bikes with much better result and style. Back on track again now, with some important meetings to come in both the PL and the LC semis and hopefully the final. Interestingly,George in his proggie notes for last night, said the last two meetings scores from the refs for the track have been 9 out of 10. Well last night was no exception uptill, after grading mid meeting, when it rose to 9.5 out of 10. Redcar eat your heart out.
  5. Runaway by Del Shannon in our comeback year of 1961. Played on a cold misty Monday evening, the clavioline solo was eerie in the darkness and the track lights. My own favourite song, along with a couple of posters on here as well.
  6. First noticed it in our first meeting at Berwick this year. Big improvement, and I know he is using different clutch plates. Getting that keen that he is getting pulled up, especially on recent TV meetings.
  7. Welcome back Davy. Burgers yes, just like the ash with Kalle. Well that's two in the net.
  8. Luv it. It's got nowt to do with getting beat last week. just the way it has been reported. In a recent year, 2010, you were doing rather well, and by good were you annoying with your self praise. It got so bad with others reactions on here that most of the Monarchs fans departed from the BSF, and chose to post in small numbers of the Monarchs Fanzone. Once again you have a useful team, and some fans are making a return and history is repeating itself. Can't agree about the Diamonds being as annoying as the Monarchs with their self praise. In that same year we were second to you, but scooped the other 3 trophies, but you will not have see posts reported on here about how great we are. We were just loving being there and enjoying the occasions, and also having the PLRC as well that year, Kenni Larsen. Must now stop it, or I will be accused of being like a Monarch.
  9. Quite right. Viewers of the Newcastle 2013 thread in the winter will know what massive amount of work we carried out, both for this year but essentially for 2014 and the airfence. Replaciing over 40 old posts and replacing the fencing on all four bends was a herculean effort from the volunteers carried it out in Baltic conditions. Some days i even had to wear a vest.
  10. I bet they will be almost climatic, over coming yet another great top team, given all their problems that they are overcoming. My money is on Scotland 1342, then either Nutz or Al Stewart. If the Monarchs were a religion(are they not) they would claim a miracle every week.
  11. If I wanted to talk to a World Champion, it would not be Sam Ermolenco. One of DH's best decisions getting rid of him.
  12. You all ignore the fact that it was only about 2 months ago that someone started an almost identical thread on here, and at the end of it it was almost unanimous that the Guests system was the best anybody could come up with in the present circumstances. Thanks for all your snide remarks especially the usual insult from Oldace, the non attending speedway fan. It could have been so useful for you all to come up with solutions that might stand a chance of success. Nah mind eh, best get ya moan in.
  13. Well we wouldn't would we, as justice would have been done. i don't do grapes. BTW
  14. You're own texter thought Tabaka was the guilty party, and that doesn't depend on me being there or not. Discussions were well in flow on here after Friday, and before last nights meeting.
  15. Wasn't there for a change, but was reading your own and Newcastle updates live. Next.
  16. Just slightly Rob. Bad result last night, especially coming after the Ipswich draw, which should have been the wakeup call after the brilliant away wins in the last few weeks. Edinburgh deserved to win overall and had to thank Cook for 5 great and hard pressed wins, and great support from Fricke who had a knack of riding in to the side of opponents, which unfortunately gave him a close win in heat 2 pushing Kerr off line on the forth bend. Someone might remind him of that move sometime. He is a class act and his hugging the inside line fast was very similar to the way Rory Schlein used to, and still does, ride Brough.(shades of Stuey Swales at his best). The rest all chipped in and had good and bad rides but Sarjeant rode determined but was unlicky not to get points. Unfortunately, we lost due to a few points. Firstly throwing away an 11 point lead on Friday was the main reason but a dodgy ref decision in heat 14 was never going to be the reason we only won by 1 point. We still had the chance at Brough but, with Fricke pushing Kerr of line in heat two, Christian a bit AWOL, Lindgren not at the races, and Steve showin only improvement in one ride. the rest of the team couldn't get the draw or win that we needed, Even Richie riding great in all his rides slipped up tactically in heat 13, when, knowing the fasted line around the last bend was the outside, for some reason cut back scrubbing speed off, and then had to watch Cook continue on the faster outside for his 4th win. One could see that Richie was distraught at losing it as the win was his if he had kept the faster line that everyone was choosing. I think he out thought himself, and after the race he uncharacteristically turned straight back and into the pits, such was his disappointment. It hurt him after his efforts, but I guess that won't happen again next week against Cook guesting for Proctor and Plymouth. The real villain IME, was Lindgren, who had a pachy night, was in second place in heat 14 and should have known that a 2-4 was still a draw with a possibly 3-3 likely in heat 15, and for some unknown reason, opened the door to Fricke by going into the midtrack on the last corner. All the non riders in the stands knew that Fricke would try the inside and all Lindgren had to do was sit on the whiteline. He really should have known, as for 3 3/4 laps Luddi rode the outside line, especially the second bend, to build up speed and it only seemed a matter of time that Fricke, coming around the whiteline, would get him eventually. He did, but by Luddi opening the door after Luddi had got the whiteline. Fricke didn't even have to push him. This must wakey up time surely, Steve so low at the minute, Kerr just one of those nights with bike probs, although i would not have went with Steve in heat 14, and I would have put Kerr in who was highly likely to gate and block, and we might still have been in the next round as a result of it. So it's out of the PL KOC in an unfortunate manner, and back to 5 PL meetings in a row with 4 of them winable. But only if the poor performances of this, and last week, are erased, and we at least get back to the recent performances against the likes of Berwick A, Ipswich A to stand a chance of continuing our challenge for the PL. .
  17. RE the incident when Hawkins did a bad left on Kerr in this meeting. George English in last nights programme says in rule 15.5.1 "Having stopped the heat, the referee SHALL disqualify the Rider, who in his opinion a, - is deemed to be the primary cause of the stoppage, or b, - by indulging in foul, unfair, dangerous or reckless conduct has jeopardised the fair chance of one or more opponents." The referee, a Michael Brekon of Middlesbrough, did not stop the race but could/should have excluded Hawkins on point B mentioned in the rules. He was invited to do so by George English at the time but it was revealed later that Hawkins had received a warning for his actions, which therefore meant he should have been excluded from that race, and could have been excluded for the rest of the meeting. Still think it was me that was biased. These are FACTS taken from the rules and GE's actions and report in the programme.
  18. Yes, and no doubt Kevin will be riding at Redcar tomorrow when I will be there for their training session.
  19. He asked Havvy jr to take a paycut. Sacrilege trying to make it pay.
  20. Yes, appearance money for that TV meeting, but not the one off payment that all EL teams get. All the PL then get to share one equal lump payment.
