Berwick V Newcastle Sat 31st August Tyne/tweed Trophy
Tsunami replied to dantodan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm afraid it does not look like it. Robbo's replacement was in place to join us, but unfortunately he broke his wrist on Monday night, and I would suggest that if a replacement for him had been found then that signing would now have been made public. The change in 1 to 7 had to be submitted on Wednesday for confirmation of it at the end of business today. It hasn't been announced, and there are no rumours, so I would think that it is RR for the rest of the campaign. That in itself is not too bad, unless we have another serious injury in which case one of our assets with the right average could come in, . but failure of that and it would be a 3 pointer NL guest I guess. -
Are these the rumours before the meeting proposed in September to talk about 2014.
-
The changes that would had to be submitted to the BSPA Office for use after Friday, would have been on the basis of their current averages.

If you don't plan for it, it will be true anyway. There will be speedway in the future regardless. -
Must admit, the actions and behaviour of some folks in charge at Somerset are 'anything at any price'. They had to apologise in the last year for cheering when one of our guys fell off, even though a previous faller in the first run of that heat meant they were assured of the overall win. Not a good example to be copied by their supporters.

I think there is a rule that you can only bring in one of your own assets. There was a case I remember from a few years ago when Peterborough brought back Ronni Pedersen after the deadline. It was Peter Oakes that made the change. -

Unlikely to. With the loss of a replacement, the club has only had yesterday and today to find another replacement, do all the agreements between all parties, before the change in the 1-7 is forwarded to the BSPA Office, for it to be ratified to start as of Friday. -

Sweaty palms time last night. After a decent start, i though we had crumbled with a poor 1-5 against Luddi and Andrew, and then a unexpected 2-4 with Anton in last place. We rallied, but and with 2 5-1's in the next three heats, we managed to restore the cushion which carried us through to victory, despite the two TR's. Absolutely blinding 5-1 in heat 15 with a great blocking and recovery from Andrew, who had done the same in heat 5 to keep Rene at bay. Good performances all round from the Diamonds, but just glad that Rusty was off and the reserves didn't match what our reserves got. 12+2 is a lot more reassuring than 4 points. George E wanted 4 points over the weekend but we still got 3 points so not lost ground really in the race to be high in the playoffs league. Won't be in the first two picking positions bu I don't think either Somerset or Edinburgh will be picking us first time round. Wonder who the Robbo replacement rider is. 'Speaking to his parent club' rules out a newby, so more likely to be a rider who is 'owned' over here, possibly now completed rides for them this year, or fancies another go in the UK for a couple of months. Any guesses ? We have to sign him before the 31st, so a decision and announcement could be expected very very soon. Canny day outside. Just the sort of weather for going out and attending the Supporters Club Family Day out at the Blue Flames Sporting Club in Forest Hall, Newcastle. Tickets can be bought on the door. Prices are £10 adult, £8 Supporters Club Adult, Under16 £5 and free admission for all junior members and anyone under 5 years old. A monster beef sandwich buffet, with chips, and all the trimmings, will be served about 8.30pm, followed by the Grand Draw after 9.00pm. Before that there is face painting, bouncy castle, games and fun for the kids from 5.00pm, with the evening starting at 7.00pm. All this of course is all in support of the Air Fence fund, which has just passed the halfway figure of £10k, so the Grand draw monies with be a great start for the second half. Go on, treat your self to a night out tonight for a great cause. -
With the season officially ending at the end of October, the monies that have to pass between clubs, for transfers and away meetings, etc, is finalised for the final accounts to be presented at the AGM. Clubs also need to re-assess their position in order to say whether they are running or not in the following year. In the pre AGM meeting, the limits are initially agreed, and most teams make some signings ahead of the confirmation of the actual points limits. It really is only the fixtures which are not started till after the AGM, when it is confirmed who is running or not.

I believe that one was at Hull on the back straight.

Disappointing result, as I was expecting at least a point. Lack of heat winners with Richie not in the frame for a change. Good debut for Rosen and he can only get better. Could be tight tomorrow but I think we will be OK and back to taking the heat wins. Wonder if Anton has got a mate. -

He seems to have the potential to be so, but needs to do it from the off. I would be replacing Robbo if there is a decent foreigner out there wanting more rides after their own team has missed out on their playoffs. Another Anton would do me. -
To answer your question Jonny, the AGM is usually about 22 to 24th November each year.

Your first gate against us on opening night was about 4300.

Newcastle's New Swede Anton Rosen
Tsunami replied to dantodan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes, the tide is and has been changing, as there is an improvement of the younger riders available. As long as we continue to encourage and develop young riders with the like of the British Youth Championships, and the excellent training facilities like Scunny and Northside, the future is looking a deal better than a couple of years ago. The scrambles and grass tracking is gone or dwindling, but the latest recruits from MotorX would suggest that that branch of motorcycling would seem to be a good replacement, and worth pursuing for our future and means less reliance on foreign riders, especially in the lower orders. -

Newcastle's New Swede Anton Rosen
Tsunami replied to dantodan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Had his first ride after heat 10 last night, when he clocked 63.7, followed by two extra rides after the Test meeting. He didn't ride hard and eased his way in but still was very fast and tidy. Everyone around me were more than impressed. He rides with Herbie Hancock in Sweden for Piraterna, who are top of their league, and Herbie recommended him. Luddi, I believe, has assisted Anton with his signing and helped with the transfer over to the Diamonds. Richie's tweet might be pointed, but is only true when over a longer period. With Swedes, and the Svemo agreement, the British club is responsible for the flights, upto a maximum amount over a season. It is expeditious to sign short term riders like Anton, especially if riders like teammate Richie seek to collect silverware with the Diamonds, to match the ambitions of the promotion and the fans. Longer term of course, Yes, we should be doing more to bring young riders, and riders from MotoCross like himself, Birks, Kerr, etc, but while there is a massive rider shortage of riders, there remains the need to sign decent foreign riders for British teams. Welcome to the Diamonds Anton, you looked good last night and will only get better, starting at Worky on Saturday -
Funny that both these posters have stalked me on here, or the WWOS, and both called me a 'failed' promoter at times. Having brought Speedway back to Newcastle in 1997, winning the PL with Newcastle in 2001, and having signed Nicki, Bjarne and KB for Newcastle, I would say that doesn't suggest failure to me or anybody else except these two failed posters. What have either done of note in British Speedway that is worthy of mention. Now that's what I would call irony. .

You have to remember that Moxey is a guy who does not go to speedway, watches it on TV only and would not go to his home track at BV, even if they gave him a free pass to get in. Hardly seems like a fan of speedway to me and many others, despite the fact he would have you believe he had the sport at heart. Folks like Moxey and Oldace bring nothing to the table in any discussion on the problems in speedway, both overshadowed by their own agendas.

EL promoters gave in to the increased demands of the top riders and raised the bar for all riders to ask for more. What was meant to be a windfall to help promotions, eventually went into the pockets of riders.
