  1. Lets hope tonight he is saving himself for the EL PO's. Any Diamonds fans going to the Cardiff GP next year on Saturday 12th July, I have three spare rooms booked for Universary rooms in the Halls. Only about 1/2 mile from the Castle, they are single rooms at £25 per night and all of them are for the Friday and the Saturday. Let me know either tonight or this week if you are interested in them. They are on a room only basis.
  2. Good result with them having their best team out and Lewis having a quiet night. Means we end up third, but it is the playoffs that count.
  3. Oooops. Seem like a couple on here need to read before they show themselves up. Too late.
  4. Nope. A rider has to be out of racing for a full season through injury, to be considered for an average reduction.
  5. They have, it's now called points limit and you sign who you want.
  6. Not that either is relevant to what I posted but :- Surprised it was overturned & should not have started, pressure from SKY and their timetables, and the call off decision made by officials who were entitled to call it.
  7. Covatti can be a very exciting rider even if he is prone to falls. His EL average would make him a PL heatleader, and I think that he will stay at Brum and his average would not justify his signing.
  8. Quite agree. When you consider the bad luck that has happened to Poole this year, it's amazing that they even qualified, never mind find themselves in a good position in the final with Brum. With Darcy's injury, then Chris's bad one, riders moving out, new 1 to 7's every month,(one rejected and another restart), then capping it all by getting THJ and Handcock to ride the rest of the season was brilliant reactions to the situations. I doubt if another EL promoter was capable of containing the situation and ending up with the team Poole have ended up with. Hats off to Matt, but the permanent Poole/Ford critics cannot bring themselves to praise the efforts against all the odds. Winning of course brings enemies, but the old phrase of it being a damn sight easier to criticise the efforts of others, than be capable of doing anything themselves comes to mind. Who's going to win the Final. Brum and Phil have done great things, despite the financial situation, but my heart and head says to go for the underdogs once again, POOLE.
  9. Grading of riders has been considered several times, but the system has more flaws than direct averages. Within grades there are bands covering say 1 point, e.g, 6.99 to 7.99. One team gets say a 7.01 rider and another richer team gets a 7.99 rider, so the lesser teams will lose part of the potential sum total of the agreed grading value. If say a team signs all lower riders within their grades, their team could be about 6 points value less than someone who is rich enough to sign all the top of grade riders. Averages don't lose or gain value, they are what they are, and are much more practical than anything others have considered. Everyone, to start with, has the opportunity to sign riders upto the agreed limit, making the potential of equal value teams. Grading does not. There is still the possibility of discounts for signing home riders in either system.
  10. Not sure he even wants to be a speedway rider. Why didn't he sign during the year. It's 11 actually, but no subs.
  11. Difficult to guess at a final team, as the EL situation could scupper a lot of plans and availability. Richie, yes if he wants another year in the PL, possibly as a D/U Hanson, wants to come Kerr, yes please Lambert, yes keep twitting Lewis Claes, No Robbo, yes if he wants to ride again Christian, Ludde, Tully all yes Rosen, Yes but surely in Poland on a Sundays. Chris. Yes and I would never have even thought that before. He has scored some crucial points, is a cracking gater to disturb better opposition riders, but gets too excited and sometimes drops it at the wrong time Bach, yes, come home please.
  12. What night but the result was not what we wanted. It's great when your team wins some silverware, but it's a bit of a hollow feeling when it is gifted through another team's misfortune through injuries. I think Ippy could have coped without Tungay but first Lanham then Barker's injuries made it an impossible task. Lanham appeared to have a dislocated shoulder, but it possibly was broken. Barker had told Leigh that they would do it for him, but then wiped himself out with a s**t or bust burst around the 3rd/4th bends, and lost it, breaking his knuckles in the process. Still wanted to continue, but ruled out by medics. Said he would be riding on Thursday, but I did not hear how he got on at our hospital last night. I think Ippy will need a facility myself. As it was, after a great win for Barker in heat 1, and making the required advantage then 15 points, we turned on the screws with some great rides to outpace Ippy's other riders and the mathematical requirement was reached in heat 13 after a second 5-1.Ippy reserves must have been knackered, each taking 7 rides, Hawkins wasn't bad, but Benji had no speed from a slow engine. A sad way to end this comp and certainly not the manner that the Diamonds fans wanted. Sad for Ippy fans like Badge, London Witch and of course Sue, and also their travelling fans who had seen a cracking evenings racing at Worky the previous night. Spoke to two guys in the carpark well after the meeting had finished, and the bar was emptying, but they were very philosophical about the events over the weekend, and I hope they had still enjoyed their time up North, and especially being with us Geordies. There were encouraging performances from ALL our riders and I think that last weeks Redcar performance can now be firmly put to bed, Great to see. I have taken up the subject of the interval after the many necessary breaks in the meeting. Not needed, too many breaks and it used up the time saved by us having in attendance 3 Doctors, 3 Ambulances as well as the Parameds, who some with the first aiders. I would personally doubt why we even have an interval at any meeting, even on a hot evening and not using RR, which we have had to use for practically all year with first Andrew, then Christian then Robbo out. We had those injuries spread out during the year, and easily covered, unfortunately Ippy's all come in one weekend. Talking of injuries, the two Ippy fans might have stayed behind to watch the suffering of first Bash, Lewis's mechanic, leg wax, and the chest waxes of Chris and Richie. Raised a tidy sum with sponsorships and donations all in aid of the Air Fence fund. A few hundred is my guess, with Andrew Hogg getting £100 personal sponsorship although they ran out of time , so his wax might have to be done this week. Prior to the meeting, the club received £1k from the track Doctors, £0.4k from another group of sponsors and £1k from last night's meeting sponsor(maintenance NETWORK ltd). Next Sunday could see another big cheque being presented but I won't spoil it, you will just have to wait and see. We are getting there, just needs another boost and we will be well on our way having passed the halfway mark a few weeks ago. Why not stop the tabs, get heathier yourself and help the health of the riders. Decent crowd, like a Playoffs crowd , including HalifaxTiger, who stood with me at Redcar, but tonight he saw a Brough win and the first team silverware decided. Thanks for your company.
  13. Them escorts are great, aren't they. Glad you are feeling better, and hope you make it to the IOW. Take Care.
  14. Then ended up at Northside training track at Workington. Was in great use on Saturday.
  15. Totally agree. MrM thinks he always is. Says the guy who only comes on to a Newcastle thread to stir the pot, and regale stories from 20-30 years ago about his experiences with "wonky Geordies". Time for you to move on.
  16. Well that's 2 hours of my life wasted that I'll not get back. Track was good, crowd was brilliant(best I've seen this year at Redcar), Redcar up for it, just a pity that a few Diamonds riders couldn't be arsed to ride for their fans. Worst performance from a couple of them when, at a time, the club and the fans needed them to be at their best. End of playoffs for us, but no doubt some riders will now go and ride elsewhere and perform well. Nowt wrong with the format, if a few riders ride crap, teams get disappointing results. That's what happened tonight. ALL the team needs to ride at their best for the other meetings, both as a compensation to the fans who they let down tonight, but also to increase their earnings from extra meetings that they look at the moment at missing out on. One thing is that they have probably rode themselves out of team places for 2014. And another thing, I have also agreed with every comment that RedcarRacer has said about tonight in a previous post. How bad is that. Possibly not as bad as the decisions, and the explanations that the ref gave for his decisions. Dave Watters, please stay in Coventry next time, you upset both sets of fans(and possibly riders) with your random decisions. Good company in HalifaxTiger once again. See you Sunday.
  17. My silence has more relevance than your rantings on most subjects. A non supporter who knows how to right the world, yea right. Still only 'like'ing Dave J. Good contribution BWitcher will think you are in on the conspiracy now R & R.
  18. Strong word and never implied. A performer cannot produce his best everytime he performs. He can raise his game in say heat15, or the final of a championship, finding that bit extra, but he was NOT cheating anybody in previous heats/races. Should a rider use his best engine in every race instead of keeping it for that special meeting when he or his team wants/needs to win. Again not cheating just accentuating your performance for that big event.
