A lot do and replace others who leave. But they don't have your hangups to spoil their viewing of such an exciting sport. A brilliant exciting meeting on Sunday, which was the top meeting at Brough this year, and all you moan about is the TR. Especially when you say on another thread that a rider must ALWAYS do his best every time then criticise George for NOT instructing his rider to drop back and FIX a 3-3 instead of a 4-2. Hypocritical. Sorry Ian, but I think I need to put you on IGNORE.
-
Try to enjoy 4 blokes racing against each other around a track 4 times. That is all this is important really, rather than getting obsessive about matters you disagree with.
-
You really are on a rant at the moment aren't you. During the year there are discrepancies develop between club statisiticians records and the BSPA ones. Every year there has to be a reconciliation between them. Even statisticians on here like SCB also have discrepancies which can usually be resolved. You are becoming obsessive Ian.
-
NO. They are sorted out with clubs to get rid of anomalies between the club and BSPA records, and the final version is presented to the AGM for use to build teams for 2014.

Yes, when you needed special engines, won by massive scores every meeting and even home fans were starting to complain about the lack of opposition. League positions were decided on points gained, instead of aggregate scores, and that affected Sheffield and Exeter the most, hence the change in the track to get more competitive meetings. -
I think Anton has ridden for us 12 times, but 5 of them were LC, TWT and PO's. so only 7 qualifying meetings. Handy for an average next year of 7.33. NB That is Anton's average WITHOUT bonus points, as per usual.

As well as not being on SKY, it would more importantly mean that SKY would not be paying a large amount each year for the rights to screen it. It is estimated that each EL gets about £90k per year from the TV deal.

Great nights racing last night between two very competitive teams. Fortunately the weather forecasts changed completely overnight and the rain midday benefited the track. Best meeting of the year for me, with some cracking hairy overtaking which was a credit to all riders. How many times did riders fly around the outside and squeeze through gaps, which the other riders had fairly left. Track very slimy at the start(2 hours of rain at lunchtime and a lot of hosing just before the meeting) and noticeable the amount of snaking out of the gates, which primarily was the root cause of the subsequent tumbles at the first bend IMO. Doyle is a class act as well as being a class performer at EL level. Richie has made great strides in a short period, but meetings like this, and also against Cookie, show that he has some distance to go yet to catch up with them. Anybody think is bikes are slower recently ? Unusual collision with the fence by Anton which fortunately he stayed on for second place and suffered no injury.. A bit like Morris, who surprised everyone to get up after ramming the fence coming out of the 4th bend, after trying to win the race all in one corner. He should use all the 4 laps, as it really was crazy to try such a big blast. around the outside. Once again a cracking performance from Lewis, he just gets better each week and never seems to fail in key races, a bit like a seasoned pro. Excitement and tension throughout the meeting, with the Diamonds just ahead with the threat of TR's a real factor. Fortunately only one opportunity for a TR though Doyle which was made worse when Chis could not get ahead of Kyle. Morris's tumble and exclusion in heat 13 steadied things for us, with also two 4-2's either side of it. Then onto heat 15 where a 1-5 to the Rebels would give them a point, and us out of contention for the final. Thought Morris would have been given the chance as he was fastest and raw, whilst Josh was not really on song and looked slower. Rosen's safe second place sealed it for us and we had the three points. Now onto Thursday for either a rainoff, a Rebels win or hopefully a Redcar win by 21 points. Going on Thursday to make sure Redcar don't hoy this one. Nice neighbours. Nice to see Robert Lambert ride in the second half. Big lad for a 15/16 year old, but has a nice sideon style, which made him have a slideoff on the first bend. With more practice he would soon master our track, especially if he was travelling with and riding with his big make Lewis next year. Hint Hint. As Bernt Persson has already said, good banter and fair craic with the Rebels fans, which included Bernt Persson, Pirate Nick and the other quiet ones that were with them. Thanks for the company and the informed comments. Nice also to meet once again Keith, Kyle and Jade after Kyle's spell with us a couple of years ago. Don't forget it's "Bulldog" Newman in future. So, if that's the last fixture of the year for us Diamonds, it's fair to say it was a cracking meeting to close on. Roll on 2014 with the airfence and the new team. Incidently, the Auction after the meeting in the bar was a huge success, and I would advise you to look out for the cheque presentation, which is likely to be at the DInner Dance on Saturday 2nd November, as usual at the prestigious venue the Old Assembly Rooms. Tickets @ £27 and well worth the scran and the dancing, Be there. Phil Griffin is a Southern referee who I believe has just moved up to Manchester. Probably be seeing him more next year, but he might have to learn a bit of Geordie to operate our switchboard. "Up", "Stop" "Oot" and "2mins".

Back from the track and everything is OK and set up for a super meeting against the Rebels. Track had a two hour spell of rain after lunch, and every weather app is now saying 'cloudy' for the rest of the evening. Track looked good and grippy at the starts and the outside( might that play into the Rebels hands). Anyway, everything is fine and looking forward to our most important meeting of the year. Must try to get an early lead and extend it, and then survive any TR's before the crunch heats 13, 14, and especially 15.

Thanks for that, I never did say never talk to previous customers(read my opening comments replying to Conkers posting). It's about prioritorising the market which gives greatest yields and success. As you say probably you and moxey say, are not the best subjects to target and every effort needs to be done to connect with younger folks especially say 30 year olds with children. One of the spinoffs of me having so many bikes and my free training school is it attracts youngsters who then start to come to speedway to see the real thing, and also bring their parents. I have a super showbike, with show covers and a clutch reaction machine fitted, which I take it to schools, shows, fayres, events and appeared at a major charity launch a couple of weeks ago at a major theatre in Newcastle. We were asked to open the show with a local comedian(see Facebook), and were able to get a plug 2 days before our Cup Final against Ipswich two days later. There is a lot going on, a lot being done, a youth system about to provide a wealth of young riders and the continual signing of good developing mainly British riders who want to ride for Newcastle. It's an ongoing process. At least

Salesmen(even world experts ) don't create or run businesses. They provide opportunities and an income stream for others to manage. No good at it, and they just move on to another business. Minimum risk. If you own and run a speedway club, you don't have that easy getout, but an obligation to save it and try to expand it. Signing the right riders is the key to creating a good team and provide finances when you sell them, and also save loan fees. Look at the riders that Newcastle have signed over the years. Most clubs envy who we have signed, and wonder why emerging class riders want to be part of our team, year in year out. In the PL, Newcastle is regularly one of the best teams , within a group of about 4 to 5 teams. I wonder why. Not cos we employ a world class super salesman. No, it's down to being able to run a business. BTW. Guess who sold you Nicki P. 7 actually, check your maths. Do you really do your companies finances. You really must have too much time on your hands if you think it is worth listening to all old customers, and think you are capable or can change everything that they complain about. In business it is about maximising your time and concentrating on the better opportunities with better results of success. BTW In my many roles I play a key part in looking for and helping implimenting anything that would improve things. I DO, you just MOAN. I try to enhance the product, you just criticise.

Not at the track at the moment, but if Jonny thinks they would be needed today, they will be down. Unfortunately we are very light on helpers to put down and pick up the sheeting on the dog track, so the sheets on the track are an extra job, usually when the dog track sheeters are not at the stadium. Anybody who wants to help with the dog sheets today, putting them down at about 3.00 (rain permitting) and picking them up after the meeting, will get free admittance to the meeting. Fancy it ?. You're supposed to be asleep,

The overnight rain that was forecast did not arrive, and it is currently dry but cold. The weather changes at about 1.00pm with heavy rain, then it is just cloudy and cold for the rest of the day. If this forecast is correct, we have a speedway meeting, any changes and I will post them. Have a safe travel.

Don't forget that, after the meeting, the Newcastle Speedway Supporters club are holding a massive auction of mainly speedway related collectable items. There are signed photos, KB leathers, and some great photos by Steve Brock of team members, team racing and recent World Champs. For a full list of items to be auctioned, have a look at the NSSC website on Facebook to see the full list. Also look at the items either current or planned to be sold on eBay. Grab your self a bargain. All the monies raised by the auction and eBay are going toward another cheque we will be presenting for use to buy the Air Fence for 2014. We have already raised over £2,000 this year for 4 panels, the monies raised will hopefully get us much nearer the required total of £20,000. Why not stay back after the main meeting in the bar downstairs. We have asked Brough Park to get a late licence for us to try and complete the sale of all the items. If you see an item, and can't be in the bar after the meeting, make a blind bid which will be put in during the bidding on your behalf. If you win, of course you will be expected to honour the bid OK.

Light rain all through the night, continuing through the day with heavy rain at 1.00pm. Cloudy for the rest of the day after that. I will give you update throughout the day, but if it is likely to be called off, I am sure an early decision will be made, in consideration of the distance to travel for both the team and the fans.

I quite agree with that approach CiG. Unfortunately the cases mentioned on this thread are about onetime fans who have walked away, and have already said they would not come back, one even if he was given a free season ticket(moxey). My point is that it is better to concentrate on folks who might be pursuaded to come rather, than change everything that oldtimers have stated they quit for because some other fans still go because of these issues. You can't please everyone on everything. It's a bit like selling something or trying to get someone to come to speedway, something that I do regularly on behalf on Newcastle Speedway. Far better to suss out the crowd and concentrate on those who show an interest and you think might be pursuaded to come. It's about percentages like most selling. In relation to SKY, I think you will find that the BSPA has actively tried to talk to SKY, but SKY don't appear to be available to enter into any dialogue with them at this point in time. It has been thought and mentioned that SKY overstretched themselves and paid too much for the Premier League football contract, and were looking to reduce their outgoings. Perhaps it would have been better to fit something into the new F1 channel and made it into a motor sports channel, but it's too late now. There are many things wrong with the SKY meetings, which do need to be sorted out, and I am sure that if there is a glimmer on hope, that the BSPA will have to be amenable to changes that SKY insist on. Let's hope they do some talking before it's too late. Unlike you, I don't need a forum, or the chance, to explain anything that you want me to explain. There are many things that are happening in speedway to move with the times, and try to improve the product, but I don't think you are going to accept anything so i'll not bother. Debating is not something that you are good at, just trying to belittle anyone who does not share your views and opinions on whatever your hobby horse happens to be at that time. Might explain why forum members don't get into debates with you. Think about it. The names that I mentioned, including yours, are folks on here who haven't got a good word to say about the sport on any angle or issue. If you don't like anything in the sport, why would anyone want to listen to someone who just decries the sport at every opportunity. If it's not for you, just leave it, you already have. Interesting you agree with BWitcher to me having zero business sense. Re-Opened Newcastle in 1997, third in our first year, signed Nicki P in 1998, Bjarne in 2000, won the PL title in 2001and second in 2002, signed KB in 2002, introduced the Gems in 2002, gave Will Lawson, Jamie Robertson, Craig and John Branney, Richard Hall, etc, all their debut rides in league speedway, retired at the end of 2003 as a promoter, but maintain many positions still in the running of Newcastle Speedway who are one of the top teams in the PL. WOW, what a failure. Certainly not, IMO it should not have started. I suppose the £10 Brits who sailed to Australia, didn't sail to 'pastures new' then. You're supposed to be the wordsmith. Look at your 'like's, that's what they are for. A sport losing fans due to social trends, as against the actual and potential menace of bombers and anarchists to society. This convo is a bit above you I see, once again.

....and here's a quote for you and your new found mate. "You can't steer a ship to new pastures by looking at the wash". anon
-
In business, you move with the times, not get on about the good old days that will NEVER come back. Note you are 'like'd by old codgers, not folks in the business or attending fans. Blows your case really, probably time for you to move on. Do you really feel you have any ability to run a business, or are you just looking for the fight cos it's me.
