Possibly true. SKY ditched the Hockey EL some years ago and it then returned on SKY.

The biggest regret is the the councils H &S officers did not have the gumption to put a prohibition notice on just the middle section, and then issue 6 month notices on the others one at a time. There is very little wrong , and nothing unsafe, about the outside flanks steps. They are merely cracked, and in the fullness in time, would have opened up and then been dangerous. Once again an over reaction by the not so savvy H & S officers.

I heard last Sunday that the repairs could be starting in January, 2014. About time too, the loss of the steps in the stands doesn't effect the dogs of course, as folks who go are behind the glass.

Tsunami replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Quite agree. Their(SKY) lack of contact does not bode well. -

No Sky Speedway = A New Opportunity

Terry Russell, on behalf of Go Speed and the BSPA, reached an agreement for another period, which has now ended this month. -
Sorry Neil, but I sent you a PM with all the contact details as to who to contact, and the events of the evening. Sorry if you didn't get it, but I did send it to you the same day. I will send you the info again in as PM now. Dave

As usual you are talking tripe. Newcastle Speedway closed down in 1994 because the owner at the time, Kevin Wilde, was sick of speedway and told us he was closing down the speedway at the end of 1994. We looked for an alternative venue everywhere around Newcastle with no success, until Wilde's Accountant, Eric Armstrong, bought Brough Park off Wilde and heard we were still interested in running speedway. We did a deal for 1997 with Armstrong as a partner and rejoined speedway in the PL. Unfortunately Armstrong went bust during that year, we continued under KPLM liquidators, and a new owner, Alan Roberts, was found and we resumed again in 1998.

No Sky Speedway = A New Opportunity
Tsunami replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Quite agree. In my time I can't ever remember having a discussion or hearing of an agreement to hand the negotiation rights to Terry exclusively. No problems with the initial "finders fee", but surely once it has been found it isn't 'found' every 3 or 5 years the contract when it is renegotiated. 20% of something, is much better that 100% of nothing, but the rights should have a natural end to them. -
Not at the moment, but with regular PL rides he'd be out of the reserve berth in no time. IMO based on seeing his racing in Germany and the calibre of the riders who he rode against and beat.

The most relevant part of what I said was about chasing old Codgers like Oldace and Moxey, who had already said on here they would never come back to speedway, and moxey said "even if they game me a free pass". In my reply to Conkers in Gravy, I did say I would seek the views of people who left, but I would priortise my efforts on folks who were more likely to come to speedway, say with kids, as they are the future, not spending time and effort to old codgers who haven't got a good word to say about the sport. SCB has already expressed the view in other threads as to why would youngsters, who should be our future, come to speedway when the average age is as high as it is in speedway, listening to old music and with drab presentation. That is not the future, and we must get younger people to meetings. Imagine if these new prospective fans went and stood alongside those two. Don't think the new fans would even stay for the meeting. Harsh but true.

Put me on the list as well.

Fine, till they go t!ts up.

Nor do you see young up and coming riders buying brand new engines, but of course this problem would lessen as the new engines became 'old' ones.

Pearson Defends The Play-off... Desperate
Tsunami replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Ha Ha, put that in the jokes section please. I present my views, and then often suffer an attempt to bullying from someone who is generally known for it. You were doing so well upto that point as well. -

Of course it is David, why not try it sometime. I just notice you either comment in a derisory tone, or many times 'like' anybody else's post who might be being derisory to me. Funny that, but you don't follow me, aye right. Oh look, there's Blazeaway doing an impression of you now. Talk about being predictable. BTW why would I want to put you on 'ignore'. One day you are going to make a major statement that means something, why would I risk missing such a momentous occasion. -

The irony for you of course, is one deserved getting 'slagged off', but the other in this question doesn't. Still following me around I see, Sad Sad. -
Pearson Defends The Play-off... Desperate

Quite agree. I remember, I think it was Subedei(Bila Hora originally), who taunted him over several months with his usual sick bile. In the circumstances Nigel held it together very well in view of the comments. -

Quite agree Doc. Speedway is an exciting sport and needs some hype to befit the action. If the commentators are not excited what the hell does the viewer think. The other sports mentioned are much more lay back, unless a goal say in the 90th minute winning a cup happens to wake the commentator to exclaim it's significance. Andy Gray used to get excited with his commentary in an authoritarian way, so that might be the reason why Tyler played the straight man. -
That's exactly my point. I am a big squash player and have been for nearly 40 years. If you can coast a win, without putting yourself out, you do it. You get the win for you and your team. If your opponent is good and difficult, you have to be able to raise your game to try to win. If you are in a championship final, well that's when you should do your best through preparation, attitude and application. I would have given instructions for a 3-3 unless of course if we had fluked a 5-1, and it would have been a bit obvious to lose the points. Remember the carry on at Stoke, many years ago, when Shane Parker was had up by the referee for not trying by dropping back to lose a point and prevent a Tac or to give Glasgow a tac..

No it was definately Ian I had been talking with, as I reminded him he had been very outspoken on another thread about all sportsmen should do their best every time and I said that it was not always possible. He disagreed but in that case thought that Richie should NOT ride his best and come in last instead. I could agree with going for the 3-3, with heats running out, but NOT after saying sportsmen have to give their best performance everytime. That's hypocritical.
