  1. Bloody hell. Terry has taken over SKY.
  2. We must have went out with the same girls Bryn.
  3. Local Businessman and ex Diamond in unbelievable Air Fence Fund offer. Malcolm Hogg of SFRacewear, has offered the chance to any Speedway rider or a fan in the World, to win a top class race suit to any design for the unbelievable price of £5 per ticket. Malcolm has joined forces with the Newcastle Speedway Supporters Club to launch this once in a lifetime project. Ex Diamond Malcolm, agrees with the decision that all British clubs should have air fences, and he wants to make this his contribution to increase the funds for the Newcastle Speedway Air Fence fund. To enter the draw, all you have to do is to pay £5 via PayPal, using airfencefund@newcastlediamonds.co and the unique transaction provides you with your unique ticket number. This invitation is open to all riders and supporters worldwide, and the raffle will be drawn on Sunday January 19th, 2014, and the winner will be contacted after the draw, enabling Malcolm enough time to make the suit in time for the new season. Why not buy a ticket or 2 if you fancy a suit for you, or you could sponsor your favourite rider, for a brand new race suit for the new season. Malcolm has been making suits since 2005, and everyone knows how good they are. He will make it to an existing design or a brand new design for 2014. Further details can be obtained from airfencefund@newcastlediamonds.co Newcastle Speedway Supporters Club. Just a reminder that tickets need to be purchased before Sunday 19th January, 2014 to be in the draw for a brand new Kevlar Race Suit to be made up by SFR to your own design. It could be for you, a present for someone or a suit for a professional rider Don't be late for the draw.
  4. Just a reminder that tickets for this draw need to be bought for this great offer by Sunday January 19th, 2014 Just think, a £5 ticket could get you a design of your choice kevlar racing suit. It could be for you, or a present for someone, or a new suit for a professional rider. Great opportunity. NB all proceeds go to the Newcastle Speedway Air Fence fund.
  5. Williamson is a very decent rider, who I was hoping to get him to come up to Newcastle. Ex MotorX he is fast, on good gear and a born racer. Rode for us in the NJL finals meeting at Redcar, and rode well. A team place possibly IMO a bit early, but will ride himself into it as I would imagine he is a rider that Rob will have high hopes for. Be good to watch his progress.
  6. Don't worry Jonny, DAC's contributions do not always mean anything, Check his previous offerings on this thread for a start.
  7. Attila Stefani was offered to us about 2003/4 when we were having a great problem to get a decent 8 pointer. At that time he was a decent rider on the continent, especially big tracks, and we were surprised he had not been snapped up beforehand by an EL team, cos at that time he would have scored reasonable. Due to us being a Sunday track, the fact nobody had gone for him and that he was about 30 at the time, we did not proceed with the enquiry.
  8. Yerropes If that had come from anybody else, it might have had a bit of credibility. As it's you, who cares. NB my favourite stalker
  9. Moxey You are deliberately making the same mistake of a previous poster on this thread. Just because some of us do not want, or think, we can go back to the past, does NOT mean that we are all lovey dovey about the current situation. The sport needs freshening up, but everything that is introduced or required by our broadcasters, is opposed by the tradionalists who main about the current situation but champion what was on the old days. It is not an option to serve the same product and everyone, including the traditionalists, need to change as well to embrace it. Traditionalist think that they alone speak for everyone, but they are heavily outnumbered IMO by the rest if us, who either agree with them, or can put up with them as the product of 4 guys racing each other around 4 laps iis still on offer and the rest if trivial. Listen or read what others really say, and don't tag them with what you want to believe is their view. We are NOT just defending what's on offer, more an acceptance that going and looking backwards is not the way forward.
  10. DtC If PC is against all the main changes that have been brought in in later decades, it can only mean A, he wants to return to the 'good old days' which his supporters on this thread seem to think he meant ,or, B, he has some other suppa duppa solutions that he is keeping to himself. As that guy from Sunderland keeps saying "You decide"
  11. Thanks for your balanced reply Dave. Many good points that I also agree with. BTW the green helmet was not at the request of SKY. There was going to be software produced and a virtual race produced with graphics from equipment on the bikes and at the track. The green helmet cover was required for punters to use their remotes in the the UK and especially the Far East for betting. I saw the demo of it and it did look promising but never delivered
  12. I think home is here now, with his parents returning to this country this year. I think he lives with Rosco.
  13. I could just be like you of course, and miss the point every time, except the times when you try to stick a knife in the sport that gave you such a great living. You do yourself no favours by doing so. About 5 years ago you tried this with Parsloes, constantly slagging speedway but praising and mentioning Stock Car racing which seemed to be your new hobby horse at the time. You now return(without your stocks this time) and expect others to accept that you can constantly run things down without getting a response. At the end of the day, if speedway is not for you these days, then sod off back the stocks forums.
  14. Have you not thought that that has been done, and found to be of no real significance to the modern requirements of sport these days. Constantly looking back serves no purpose other than to keep you in the past.
  15. Plus , fans change over during the weekend, and a Tuesday night race night allows them to settle in and get more aware that speedway is on. In the past the IOW used to also hold meetings on the Thursday night, to fit it postponed meetings, which would have been great to have two meetings during their stay on the island.
  16. And this from a guy who had a glittering career in this sport, and now in his dotage takes great glee out of 'liking' any old rubbish people put in posts, and delights in highlighting rubbish comparisons like the above. Move on old fella.
  17. But PC argues against those changes which were made to keep others happy, and many on here oppose any change, such as bringing in the protected reserves that serves Poland and Sweden quite well. It's no good going back, it's no good either saying change things and then when they do get it opposed by the angry brigade on here. The worst that can happen for speedway is try to copy speedway from 30/40 years ago, One off WC finals, uprights, black leathers, anything goes gating, wooden fences, etc. We have got to move on for the new comers as they are the future. The old timers support is of course valuable, I am one of them, but like everything in life, you have to embrace change.
  18. I agree everyone, including PC, has an opinion, but a rider doesn't necessarily make a good promoter/administrator. In addition, the world of of sport and business is an entirely different place to when PC was a rider. Yearning for the past to reappear is exactly NOT what this sport needs right now.
  19. No. That's incontinence. (getting to be a theme this)
