  1. Exactly. That is how they sell things to make sure they are bought. That is the system, and i don't see your point that they are being given away, if folks have to buy them. The price is the inducement to buy, that's how financial transactions work. BTW I was very happy at the loads of shares I bought as an employee of the then British Gas in 1986. Unlike your quotation though and being a Senior Manager in BG, It didn't make me a millionaire, perhaps I missed the boat cos I am very definitely British. Whilst I can see where you are coming from regarding competition within an industry, there was always competition between electric, oil and gas as the home fuel market. That was the reason why regulation by the Off..... bodies were brought in to make an industry competitive by financial analysis and future investment. Please no. You have bored enough folks on here with your previous contributions on the subject.
  2. Personal experience and contacts that you obviously haven't got.
  3. We had an interest in him before he rode for Poole and that was what we heard.
  4. To get back on subject...... Phil is the owner and, as he joined in Dec 2002, I reckon that was probably the start of the BSF. I don't think it has any website opposition, but there are groups of folks on here who talk speedway on Facebook There was a time when some of us made donations, because of the costs to Phil, but I think then Tony McDonald(tmc) then sponsored the site by his excellent Retro magazines. A few years ago Phil offered to sell the rights to the BSF, but after much discussion on here, nothing seem to change, and Phil remains as the owner. Legal issues were raised when the Ward/Norris case came up a few years ago. Phil, quite rightly banned certain info on the site as, as the legal owner, it is he who would be responsible for allowing comments on the site, which should not be made during and leading up to the trial. Generally most promoters, and an even bigger percentage of Riders, give the BSF a wide berth whilst they go about their business. A handful of promoters read and only a couple actually post only occasionally. Riders who do post on here , usually get reminded that it is wise not to by the replies back to them. Probably about 1%, if that. And about 70% probably are NOT regulars, if you believe their own posts. I wouldn't use the word love it, but it is a very useful source of info that gets shared, whether it is true or false of course doesn't matter. Gives some people a platform if that is what they need. I think it is very useful for fans to express their views or opinions, and of course gives others the chance to correct them. News travels faster due to the BSF than if it wasn't here to read or write on. Good post by the OP, BTW
  5. Was it not Eriksson who broke his thigh and can now only ride so many meetings a week.
  6. Unless it is Ping Pong of course, Ian .
  7. We are down to the level with the then new inside kerb of 1997. The track was becoming wavy, with water which lay and made it soft and easily removed by a bike. At the same time, as grass does, it increases in height over a period, and just before the start gate it is at least 15 inches above the new track level. The immediate inside grass is to be chamfered, to allow riders to ride across the line a bit like at Peterborough. This gives a closer riding inside line. The 3rd/4th bend outside is rarely used unless someone is in trouble, ex Rene Bach, and the addition of the fence will only take up about 18 inches which riders don't use now. So the big outside blast is now safer to try. It is planned, if time allows, to pave the area either side of the start gate for the riders to stand on when on the parade. Anyway, work starts again this Sunday at 9.30am, weather permitting, so if anyone fancies it, they would be more than welcome to come and get their hands clarty and dirty. Don't forget ya wellies.
  8. Different bats, different balls , changes in the scoring, different technique and a separately registered sport, but YES, its just the same as Table Tennis.
  9. Make your mind up. They either sold things or they gave them away. Are the test details of the air fences safe I ask. Yes, you could Bank on that.
  10. Are you for real and know anything. Ping Pong is a sport with standard rackets and entirely different from Table Tennis, and both hold their own Championships. Obviously humour is also not for you.
  11. I gather. You never fail to tell us of your own opinion of the immigration system, due to your own circumstances. They are always wrong if it doesn't suit you.
  12. Would that not give Sheffield problems if was still with Buxton on a Sunday, at say Newcastle or Glasgow.
  13. Yes, you would think so, but Grachan wouldn't have a gripe about the Immigration Department then.
  14. I think that was the situation last year as well. The Aussies riders concerned had let their permits lapse, when the rules stated that they had to renew it before the date. They were refused as the deadline had passed, therefore the rules made them wait another 12 months before reapplying.
  15. Being born in Walker, still has it's benefits.
  16. Given the initial mistake, I though everyone was agreeing it was Nick's other rides as a DU that selected him for the exit. If Nick did agree to come back, those probs would still be an issue.
  17. So you outline something that can't happen, and E I Addio cops it cos you got it wrong.
  18. Whatever people think of doubling up or down, the main reason now is the fact that there is a great shortage of available riders so doubling up gives you options. And yes the new initiative with the reserves in the EL is another option/alternative to increase the rider pool up to a higher standard, whereby we can limit the number of foreign riders who are expensive. It is not about breeding a WC as that would be the icing on the cake.
  19. Scunny, Berwick, Ipswich, Peterborough, possibly Redcar, but best team Worky.
  20. The 3rd/4th bend is already 2 metres wider than the 1st/2nd bend and the outside rarely used, unless someone gets into trouble. The 4th bend inside curb is being trimmed to increase the width of the exit and bring in another racing line in. When we changed 40 posts last winter we put them back in wider to allow for the air fence. This month we will be pulling back 19 posts to straighten out and widen the run from the gate to the first bend, and to increase the width of the exit out of the second bend. The track has been dropped in height by about 1 foot, and the centre green is to be chamfered to allow more closer racing near the white line. Any humps and hollow have already been taken out, and the track is now more level than ever before. It will look really tidy, and produce a smoother track with more racing lines, which is what the riders have asked for. We start work again with the track work on Sunday 12th January, so instead of talking about it you could turn up and give us a hand to get it finished. We start at about 9.30 till about 3.30 weather permitting of course. About 3 metres between both tracks.
