Well, that was a shift and a half to get all the post work done, even though it meant working through the cold and the rain and blustery sleet all the time. Many thanks to everyone who turned and got the job done. Just need to concrete all 16 posts next week, and the fence is just about done apart from a few cosmetic jobs. It was a fantastic effort and I really though we would not even start, never mind finish the job. Next week onto concreting, and starting to fasten the kick boards behind where the air fence will be. Painting squad to recommence kick board painting if the weather allows. Work to start as normal at 9.30am, but in my absence Jackie Campbell will be coordinating everything. If you think there is any doubts, say due to the weather, just give her a ring to find out. See you all when I get back. EDIT Forgot to mention that our Luscious Swede, Ludde, having just flown in for the event, and minder Georgie, were once again in attendance and getting involved in the hard graft. Georgie even got to drive the enormous 3 ton bucket thingy.

Good research womble and interesting points raised, Thanks. I obviously don't know the BSPA's reasons for their stance, but I have no doubt it will be for valid reasons, perhaps we don't appreciate. We will see. In the second point, I did say "I personally have my own doubts' about the suggestion that a new visa would be required between Leicester and Somerset meetings. So no "not quite true". Totally disagree. Surely It is an employees position to know the rules, and then to abide by them legally. As Arson has said, "are the BSPA just being made a scapegoat for the failings of Doyle and Somersets balls up ??",etc". Perhaps the ones who have fell foul of the immigration rules, need to take a leaf out of Tungate's book, and change the renewal date of their visa's to nearer the start of the new season, when they are in a better position to know they have a riding contract for the new season. No doubt we will find out the real reasonings in due course, I hope so.

There you go again 'lining peoples pockets'. There are risks in publishing things too early, but you seem to miss the point. -

On the other hand, many of us think we are lucky to have such a quality and well presented magazine for our minority sport, and at such a reasonable price. Everyones different. -

In a previous post he stated "The End", but he seems to want a second bite of the cherry now. I'm impressed. Perhaps I can, but then again your involvement in our discussions ended in post 883. THE END -
Probably Probably the reason for not endorsing it. Possibly In PM's with Pirate Nick, and wondered why other Aussie riders don't change their renewal date to a date such as end of February, the same as Tungate has. He is currently riding in OZ but should arrive in February in time to renew his visa. OZ riders only know sometime after the AGM that they are hired for the next season so give it a bit of leeway and then apply.

Ignoring of course the fact that a recent slip has caused a hiccup, and why we still await an 'announcement' that is usually reported in the SS. Never heard that 'careless talk costs lives". To some on here they would wriggle out any news, true or false, get it printed and talk the big talk when the deal collapses. Thank goodness the SS is prepared to wait until the time is right. And there you have it TWK...... -

What muscling in on a deal, printing what they know and the deal being scuppered because of that. That's crazy. One less single malt for you I think. -

Not if it jeopardises anything, like a certain false start already been reported. There is a time and a place to announce things, and obviously that time hasn't arrived yet. -
Which Rider Is On The Best Value Average

Totally over the top reaction. Who says he knows the heat formula, have a look at MattK and Incognito's posts. -
You allegedly 'have to go though 15 minutes of racing' every meeting every week, even when SKY has nowt to do with the meeting.

Doing that purely opens a massive can of worms. The BSPA would then be the sponsor, and take personal and financial responsibility for all riders who would also join Doyle going for a Tier 5 permit. In addition, as it has been indicated earlier in this thread, a rider could not ride for two teams, guest or D/U, as it would appear he would be riding for another team, and therefore might have to have a new permit each time he changes from his primary team. I have doubts about that, but for it to happen, that would imply, I think, that the BSPA would have to take on the role of primary sponsor, something I can understand they would NOT entertain at any cost. It really does come down to a foreign rider needing to know the rules of entry, and planning ahead to comply with the rules.

Clever enough to know I have never said that, and it is only YOU acting like a 'twisty turny thingy' trying to twist it to try to appear clever. Failed again then. -
I think the whole thing says more about the delusioned poster, than Hoggy and the consortium. There must be loads of things to do with the transfer of the business, planning the new team, and buying and arranging the new air fence, and it is these things that should be everyone's concentration at the moment. There is renewed enthusiasm in Sheffield posters on here and long may it continue.

Ha Ha. And i'm the one supposed to be 'putting the boot into' Frost. I have a lot of respect for Rick but speedway was just not for him. You never will be -
So a successful business man makes speedway pay and he is 'lining his pockets'. Strewth

Someone fairly high up in speedway told me that in Australia everyone pays to get in, but track workers and the like go and get it redeemed after the meeting. Not too sure how practical that is in the UK, but it does make you think. Riders of course could do there bit, instead of bringing in all of their community in their vans. Why should any previous rider be allowed in free and bring his mate, and especially why be allowed to stand in the pits presumably with a free proggie in their hand. Fans who pay to get in can see the freeloaders and it upsets a lot of people. -
I only asked because, if you are implying that the promoters would be lining their pockets, it would only be the replace what has already been taken out of that pocket beforehand. Nobody is making money as a promoter except a handful.

Does it matter. Suggest you don't base a business plan on something 8 year old, and also read the comments on here from your own fans. They are realistic. -
Back to the track tomorrow staring at 9.30am. Don't think we can paint as it won't dry at the moment. Only 4 more posts to move and then concreting in all 16, and that's the fence done after a little bit if tidying up. Weather not great but we thought that last week and we got so much done then. The air fence arrived a week too early on Thursday, and it is stored off site till we are ready to bring it to Brough. Hope to see you all there starting at 9.30am as usual.

You hide it so well. So if you are confident from something that happened 8 years ago, get ya money out and put it into the club. -

I am well aware of the losses situation and the new factors, and what may or may not of happened at the AGM. What we really need to know is if Trump99 is going to fund the losses for EL racing. -
