  1. For those Diamonds fans who either can't make it down to 'Boro, or haven't access to SKY, why not join us at the Wheatsheaf, at Palmersville(near ASDA, Benton). The Newcastle Speedway Supporters club are hosting a watchin from say 7.00pm, and everyone is most welcome to come and join us.
  2. Shades of Max Clifford here. After the Ben Powell/Kenni Larsen incident a few years ago, I and many others, praised Rob and Scunny for the prompt and appropriate action again Ben Powell, who was subsequently banned and fined from British Speedway. I am not surprised the both Rob and Dave P are staying out of this, as I think they are both very fair and honest guys in my opinion, and will take possibly be dealing with this in private in their own way. Enter Rob (Lucifer Sam)
  3. First saw this with our Danes at Newcastle. The likes of Bjarne, KB, etc, all had largeish handsets which was a phone, but with a mini computer on the reverse side. They recorded all the setup details from every meeting, their scores and the conditions, and consulted the info before every meeting. The detail they had on everything was amazing. Grachan You are right in what you say about Ivan. In one of his books he tells you that he knew the temperament of every referee in domestic and overseas meetings, down to the average time they would take to release the tapes. In his notebook he recorded a 'P' as a code against a refs name to indicate a trait of the ref. It was all mind games with Ivan and the refs, and I know who won most battles.
  4. That's NOT the subject of the discussion. It's the wilful and reckless actions of a speedway rider, showing no respect, and whose actions were risking several riders potential harm. Get it.
  5. Can I suggest that the Scunny apologists on here get in touch with Bob Tasker of GRT Media at your track, put some money in his hands and purchase a copy of his DVD, which shows quite conclusively what really happened on Sunday night. Hope someone is sending it to the SCB.
  6. It seems ironic that, when accused of dangerous and wilful disrespect for parking a bike on one of the racing lines, and elbowing opponents right from the start of a race, that it has conveniently changed now to the problems of it being a technical track. Nice conveniently "let's change the subject" to get off the issues in question, and in doing so give the opportunity for some Redcar fans to have a go at 'Rough' Park(sic). Anybody remember last year at Redcar with the 1 1/4 hour wait one week, followed by the 1 hour wait for the meeting starts, while they relayed the whole track. Some irony that. Not sufficient to jam the wheel, and stop the bike being pushed with ease. FACT. The mechanic proved that.
  7. Some are even trying to count seconds to try to get Thomas off the charge. Got to laugh at conspiracy theories.
  8. But I do think you have major issues of denial. Firstly Thomas's bike slowed to a halt, he got off it and proceeded to undress and gesticulate. As the bike was still capable of freewheeling why would home fans need to also go on the track and try to move or mend an opponents OK bike. Very strange. What they could have done of course was to do what his mechanic did, and that was pull the clutch lever in and run with the bike back to the pits, Simples. As to 'super sub', are you on something, suggesting he only declared all 4 back as to not raise suspicions. Man, you need help. I can , however, share a concern with your last point, as that is what was the major concern of those present last night. Obviously those who stayed at home in Scunny would disagree.
  9. Doesn't do you any favours that montie, even with a smiley after it. The incident you should be commenting on is the dangerous actions of one of your guys.
  10. They don't prevent it, as well you know. Like a lot of small tracks, you need the skill to turn a bike and then you get good fair racing. Newcastle has produced too many top riders to deserve what you are implying. The difference in those cases is in the words 'block off every run around the boards from gates 3 and 4'. Auty was trying to ride into people and being unsafe. Several riders had a go at him, did riders have a go at Robbo. Probably the difference is that Robbo is a safe, tenacious rider who is fair to other riders, A riders rider. On the other hand Auty..... How come if they ride the same style, that Robbo is not held in the same way as Auty. Still Nicki's biggest fan and a lover of his determined style. People go to watch him and pay to see him. A bit like Robbo.
  11. Sounds like a quickly cobbled statement to save a heavy ban. Has a ring of Richie Hall's thoughtful apology about it. Let's not kid ourselves, this is nowhere near the truth. Everyone in the stadium could see him lose out with the elbowing, ran around the second corner, calmly get off his bike, repositions it, unclothes his head and gesticulates to the ref. Every possibility that it was caught on film and will be on the DVD from GTR Media at a very reasonable price from your own track store.
  12. ..and that is bollocks. IF you had been there, you would have seen him stop, get off, adjust the position of the bike on, take his helmet and goggles off and gesticulate up to the referee. He coasted to a stop so there was nothing jammed. Now go to bed.
  13. .....and lets not treat a serious subject with apathy and attempted humour. Grow up.
  14. It was NOT due to the track. Had nothing to do with it The problem was twofold in that certain Scunny riders were prone to elbowing opponents to get through, and the new phenomena of Auty gating but deciding to take off any home rider was challenged him for the lead. I think I have heard something recent about the latter. Now the big issue. After another first run of heat 10 due to the above, in the second rerun Tommy decided he had come off worse and, due to the ref not playing the game and stopping the heat for Tommy to have another go, he cowardly placed his bike on the track, on the racing line coming out of the second bend, remonstrating with the ref. If it had not been for the quick thinking of the flag marshals, and then the red lights, a major collision could have occurred. Yes he was correctly excluded from the rerun, but surely he should a, have been slung out of the meeting, and b, should be reported for his action and receive a sizeable ban for dangerous behaviour. Many years ago a World Champion left his bike on a straight and got a sizeable ban. Tommy decided to leave it in the worst position he could , on the racing line coming out of the second bend, when riders would be on full power. It obviously is against the SCB rules, but it was a crass, cowardly and stupid action to bring potential danger to his fellow competitors. That is unforgivable and shows no respect by risking fellow riders in his protest. I honestly hope that Jorgensen has been reported for it, i heard he had been fined, and that he receives a massive ban from UK speedway. Speedway is a dangerous enough sport without nutters within showing no respect to their fellow riders. Quite frankly I was amazed he was still riding in a heat 2 races later. It would be interesting to hear the view of the Scunny Team manager of the events given that Dave Peet used to be a referee. Onto the meeting. Some would say a dead rubber with nothing to ride for, but they could not have been more wrong. In between the many reruns there was some exciting racing from both sides, with a home defeat a possibility with the poor returns of Christian and especially Kerr. Fortunately our fortunes changed with the heat 10 calamity, followed by a 4-2 and 2 5-1's to make the win pretty safe. Auty has learnt to gate , and had a decent meeting, Howe useful as normal, and Douglas showing some tigerish form. For the Diamonds, can I say that Ludde didn't let us down with a cracking performance of power, aggression, and amazing speed to justify his correct title of the DIAMONDS NO 1. Add to that brilliant passing and riding from Robbo and Ant, and with the other contributions saw out a comfortable win to reach 49 points. Bloody freezing night, but some canny racing on a grippy track, which needed regular grading. Produced great racing, just the same as Scunny fans say about their deep track, but it was riders that won not the track. Now onto the Premier League.
  15. You have been in denial since Xmas that he was our number 1, due to the highest average being number 1. It is only in the last few weeks you have agreed with me, and others, being technically right about the qualification for a number 1, but you seem to lapse from that on a regular basis, hence the reason why others saying "boring, give it a rest". Not being pedantic are you.
  16. Many thanks for that. I wasn't sure if it was a total ban, or only a ban from the important areas. Looking at some suits, in particularly Nicki P, he seems to have Kevlar with ribbed leather, particularly on the shoulders. Can see that working with Leather patches on knees, elbows and side hips, to give extra protection to the slide areas, where burn and abrasions are more likely to occur.
  17. I thought there was or had been a move to ban all nylon from suits.
  18. The draw was held on Sunday 13th April after heat 15 of the Diamonds V Sheffield Tigers meeting. The winner was David Mason, a long time supporter of the Diamonds
  19. I think he might have been a Latvian who was going around the country trying to break track records. I saw him at Sheffield at the same time, and he was looked after by former Sheffield Tiger Rene Ass.
