  1. He was in a Middlesbrough jail in about 2004 and on release was sought by many teams, including Newcastle. They were all after him with his performances on the Sheffield training track before he got put away.
  2. Yes she was good company to stand with. Couldn't believe how generous she was with Chris, who was obviously treat like a family member. Lovely lady.
  3. Yes, she used to stand with my family when Chris was riding for us. Fabulous sponsor to have, who used to go down to live with Chris and his family, and then going on to do the southern tour with him.
  4. Interesting situation regarding Visa riders. I think under the visa procedure, the UK club guarantees a home and a wage to the visa rider. If the rider stayed in this country during lockdown and received the benefits, could that rider jump ship and ride in say Poland. Similar case, if OZ riders who have returned to OZ, just return direct to Poland even though he could have receive benefits, is there any comeback for the visa sponsor. I think KB was going to Poland as well as he was photographed with Nicki in his new teams jackets last week. I think there was a little easement given to say riders like the fellow Danes, in order to return for the Danish leagues if and when they start again. If the DMU had not been satisfied with their riders trying to ditch the Danish League, they are entitled to refuse "permission to ride" in Poland. That is the agreement.
  5. Yes, and in her intention to get her own way on Independance regardless of her country voting against it, and not asking for it in any great number. What, in your opinion, do you think I should have looked at
  6. Boris is trying to treat people as adults, it’s them that are not. Stay alert doesn’t really need to explained in great detail even if you only have half a brain.
  7. Thought it was a decent attempt to try and ease the rules without opening the flood gates. Boris is wrong whatever he does, according to his critics. On the one hand, if he does ease anything, people will open the flood gates and abuse the easing by reverting to normal life, Union leaders and business's will have concerns about a safe return to work on safety issues . On the other hand, if he doesn't ease anything, people will feel compelled to revolt against present conditions which has already started, and business men will be exasperated trying to restart their business without getting the nod to do so. It's a very delicate path especially now that Scotland and Wales are starting to anger the government by not attempting to implement the same solutions. Nowt new there Nicola. At least we can see the road map ahead, and it's in our hands as to how quick we can get to the end which is planned for July but not normal as we know it. Without reading all the crap on here from the usual suspects, whatever what is done or proposed will be wrong apparently, they will be told lies after lies, the MSM will continue to be Labour's best ally, etc. Remember the government will be guided by experts with coefficients and parameters, and they will all be EXPERTS, and it's to be also remembered there is none on here. Only interested spectators playing with figures.
  8. I rest my and Star Lady's case. Be humble enough to admit you were wrong.
  9. Don't think so. After Bob Tasker died, the master tapes passed to someone else, and, to my knowledge, there has been no attempt to restart selling copies of the old videos.
  10. I think it was in yesterdays daily broadcast when Nicola said the Scotland's R rate was over 1, and implied some were higher and others below 1. That being true she will have to have a rethink, cos she and Scotland will not have met the 5 conditions when the rest of the UK gets some relief from lockdown on Sunday.
  11. I think that New Zealand is now about finished producing speedway riders. There doesn't seem to be reports of meetings, perhaps the earthquakes they have had in recent times has put paid to stadiums for speedway. Be interesting to hear Jade Mudgway's views on the current situation.
  12. Yes, he certainly looked out for them.
  13. "Greg" Hancock advises that there was 105,937 corona virus tests carried out on Friday.Twice in two days he's smashed the 100,000 figure. What a man. But if you discount Thursdays figure, cos you don't want to believe it, he has beaten the target of 100,000 a day late. Shocking, there'll be people asking for his resignation now.
  14. Everything "a con" when the result is not what you wanted.
  15. Never the less, that's what the rules have been confirmed the Professor in charge of testing programme. If they weren't counted on day of release, when would they be recorded. I realise this is now a politicised issue, but Starmer has already accepted the issue as he sees the need to ramp up the number of tests. All getting so silly.
  16. Do your homework. The methodology of collection this data has been set out before, and the figures today are consistant with how they have been recorder since day 1. Regardless of your comments, even if you did take the postal ones away from the total, it's not a bad stab at 100,000. Starmer has already realised it was a very near hit, and has already indicated that it's not an issue he will be following up. Perhaps he is learning, could be a message for others.
  17. Tests yesterday were 122,347 which of course beats significantly the tough target set by Hancock of 100,000, which journalists and critics were preparing to call for his resignation from office. Seems appropriate in that case then to call for their resignations having met and smashed the target.
  18. NO, I doubt think it was a double header. Obviously it wasn't the abandoned Lakeside meeting.
  19. Yes, Our meeting went the full distance, but it was not pretty to watch with anxious faces to see if anybody was going to get hurt. Not great, but the coldness was coming up through the track. With the sea just over the railway line, the air temperature was usually cold which initially you didn't feel when the fans were allowed to be nearer on the 1st/2nd bends. When moved to the top ridge beside the van and the toilet block, the wind off the sea used to hit you in the back all night. Bloody cold.
  20. I remember that very well. As the meeting went on it was obviously that track grading etc, was actually making it worse. I believe there was a small delay between two later races due to the concerns. Ritchie Worrall was riding for us and he was doing well, but it was more like skiing, or ice racing on a bike without spikes, rather that driving it like on normal wet shale. I think the water was actually coming from up the shale, and then freezing.
  21. With Ivan's love of Newcastle, every time he came back to this country, he used to plan his time here and then ring Joan English to advise her of his visit. I believe he used to meet a family he knew in the afternoon, and then travel on to us. His visit was never announced and he was often in the office at the beginning of the meeting but the fans didn't know. At some stage he would come out and stand in the office doorway and then the news went around that Ivan was with us. Another reason he used to visit us was to check on the progress of David Bargh and Mark Thorpe. He never forgot the New Zealanders. As soon as he arrived and met people, he was away and gone. Very low key.
  22. The gismo that was used by Tomas is to change the angle of the front suspension to get a different angle digging in which is then pushed off. He pushes lever on the suspension and after the start I am told he has to kick the thing to get back to the original designed angle. This is the part he can't get right after he gets out of the gate first.
  23. There was an electric ignition system produced and used in the early 00's. It was a small lever on the handle bars which detuned/retarded the ignition so producing more grip from the start with less spins. Once in front the rider flicked the ignition back to normal having gained from the gate advantage. I caught a very fast starting Exeter rider at our away meeting at Exeter using one, but the rider hid his bike from me and the machine examiner wouldn't do anything about it. I reported it to the Ref and the SCB, but I never heard anything after that. It was illegal cos in 1997 there was a vote amongst riders as to whether programmable ignitions could be introduced into British Speedway, but they voted against them mainly on the basis of cost. Hope that helps.
