  1. Reminds me of that Star Wars guy, Only One Konopka.
  2. Local Businessman and ex Diamond in unbelievable Air Fence Fund offer. Malcolm Hogg of SFRacewear, has offered the chance to any Speedway rider or a fan in the World, to win a top class race suit to any design for the unbelievable price of £5 per ticket. Malcolm has joined forces with the Newcastle Speedway Supporters Club to launch this once in a lifetime project. Ex Diamond Malcolm, agrees with the decision that all British clubs should have air fences, and he wants to make this his contribution to increase the funds for the Newcastle Speedway Air Fence fund. To enter the draw, all you have to do is to pay £5 via PayPal, using 'airfencefund@newcastlediamonds.co', and the unique transaction provides you with your unique ticket number. This invitation is open to all riders and supporters worldwide, and the raffle will be drawn on Sunday January 19th, 2014, and the winner will be contacted after the draw, enabling Malcolm enough time to make the suit in time for the new season. Why not buy a ticket or 2 if you fancy a suit for you, or you could sponsor your favourite rider, for a brand new race suit for the new season. Malcolm has been making suits since 2005, and everyone knows how good they are. He will make it to an existing design or a brand new design for 2014. Further details can be obtained from airfencefund@newcastlediamonds.co Newcastle Speedway Supporters Club. As most people will remember, the above offer was extended to this Sunday 13th April, 2014, due to PayPal payments and the lack of a work slot in SFR's work schedule prior to the season. Malcolm has factored in time for the suit to be made, and I am pleased to say the tickets will still be able to be bought at £5 via PayPal right through the week, and that the actual draw will be made after heat 15 after the meeting with Sheffield Tigers. Time to get a move on and get your ticket.
  3. In addition 'Hull Vikings' and 'Ivan Mauger' regularly put photos of Ivan and stories out on Facebook to remind us of the memory of this great man. I understand 'Hull Vikings" is a big fan and wants to keep Hull Speedway in the limelight, But in the case of 'Ivan Mauger' perhaps it is a case of his family regularly putting his photos on to help him relive the memories, and we get to look at the photos once again. I agree discussion of Ivan's condition would not be suitable for everyday reading, but it's great that we can all share and look at what he gave us for all this years. 6 times World Champ, and changed the status of riders for ever with his personal application. What a champ.
  4. Probably time now to put this one to bed. He has mouthed off, got the criticism, and has apparently now said he would like to be considered for next years U21's. Time to give it a rest and enjoy his development as a Brit.
  5. Some road motorcyclists must still use Castor based oil with their road bikes.. When a hot bike goes past me, I often have a "Bisto" moment smelling their fumes.
  6. You are right. Ludde used to fly in for a few days then fly back home. He came to most Sunday sessions and that included the many days when it was pouring down, and we were digging post holes and trying to cement them in. He joined in like everyone else and just got on with the job. He really didn't have any input to the changes, after it was explained what and why we were doing the changes. He did ask for more protection around where the gap between the panels coincided with a fence post, and we have strips of belting in these 5 locations. Agree about the Parade, no more please.
  7. I think every rider has to sign to say he will ride in certain competitions, when signing for a UK speedway licence.
  8. Now there's a surprise. Glad you agree though the the one with the highest average IS the Number 1. That'll be Ludde.
  9. I think both HadrianDog and Robbie are both correct, and that the evening was very flat. Parade didn't work, and i hope is not repeated, but the start with heat 2 and a 1-5 to the Rebels killed that atmosphere. Here was a team needing to get a good start to try and pull the deficit back and our reserves get 1-5'd, especially from a former Diamond reserve who didn't show that form when with us. Heat 4, with another 1-5, confirmed the defeat and the loss of the Shield. End of the show for most people with heat 6 another 1-5. There is no argument about LL being a number 1. He IS the top points average rider so factually has to be the number 1 regardless of opinion. When the new averages come out, after Anton gets in his final away ride, HE will be number 1 and again HE will be inconsistent as he rides some tracks for the first time.
  10. I think you will find that there is an SCB enquiry this week about this matter.
  11. Congrats to the Rebels for winning both legs. Their reserves are making a hell of a difference together with a decent quintet. 11 points from R/R for Allan. who hasn't always rode Brough that well. helped their cause. 3 blown engines and an engine problem for Christian, meant it was never going to be on, but I had hoped we would win our home leg. We didn't, so congratulations to the new worthy winners of the Premier Shield. I think we have issues with the team, and some riders need to start producing as we should, and need, to be better that we have been in both of the legs against the Rebels. Sheffield was also disappointing, so Thursdays meeting against Redcar, and next Sunday against Sheffield, will tell us if some poor form is a bit more permanent than we hoped for. I am aware that the track was very tricky tonight, and until lunchtime the track was under water with the heavy rain we had during the last week. It took an enormous amount of work to get the track raceable, and you could see that some riders continued go carry issues with the track, even though it got considerably better after the break for the sun off. We did improve after that break, but fell again at the end to lose the home leg.
  12. Weather report for those who are travelling. Sun is out and the forecast is for a tropical 16 degrees for the rest go the afternoon, before cutting in to 12/13 degrees. Bit overcast at 7.00pm, but nothing else for the rest of the day. Any change and I post it on here.
  13. As others have said, I think the deficit from Fridays meeting is going to be just too much for us to overcome, although I do think that we will get a decent win. Friday was a bad day at the office for too many Diamonds, and I think there will be a smart reversal of both teams performances tonight. A good competitive meeting with no injuries will do, as we say goodbye to a trophy that we have recently had a good relationship with. I think we have better performers around our track, but it will be interesting to see how the Danish lad performs. Big performance on Friday with paid 15, but I don't expect to see that sort of score from him tonight. Let's hope the celebration of the Rebels promotion is a bit more respectable in their moment of glory. Should be a good meeting. Reminder that we need every sheeter to stay behind and pick the sheets up after the meeting. Thanks.
  14. It could hinge on the form of the two Lewis's. if Kerr rides to his ability, and Rose gets amongst the points, I think we could do very well. Anyway, I know we will be cheered on by Dietbowers, so it will be nice to hear and see one of our own cheering us on. I am off to see Foreigner and Europe at the City Hall, but I will still be having a squint at the Updates during the night.
  15. Well Sunday should see the first silverware of the PL decided with the second leg of the Premiership Trophy. Will Rebels bring a big lead from tonights meeting at Somerset, or will it be all to play for with a reasonable deficit to overcome. Should be a good meeting between two competitive teams, if previous meetings are an indicator. Looking forward to it. Can sheeter's note that sheeting is planned for 3.00pm, and hoping that there is a reasonable number left at the end of the meeting to pick them back up. It really is important, as the more the merrier and, the easier the job is for everyone. Hope to see you all there.
  16. Think we will do pretty well. Remember it is on aggregate so a small defeat is acceptable. GoGo Diamonds.
  17. Quite agree with your version here. In addition to what you say, I understand Rick and Julie either had a new business, or expanded one of their existing businesses, and this was said to be the main reason why they sadly walked away from promoting. I still feel they still have a great interest in the sport, and the sport should be very grateful for their contribution, but perhaps their 'watching brief' at the moment may see them return, and take a more involved role in future. Here's hoping, and good luck to them in their other businesses.
  18. More likely to be Colin was there after fitting the fence and training others how to. Every new fence I have heard about, Colin, and Tony Briggs at Worky, have been there to instal their product.
