Seems like a strange move to go PL but, in view of what THJ said about the dogs intentions, Rob may be trying to at least give us some speedway, given it will end up as a filler for this year and just to get to the end of the season. If he doesn't, and THJ is right, Rob could not run speedway, so it could be a good thing to keep things going. OK, no amusements and all the bells and whistles that Rob was going to introduce, and no possibility of the junior teams, but we would have speedway for a short season and it might be fun to see the standard of the PL. Could be good.

It was always planned to have a joint NT team sharing the meetings between both tracks and trying to use all local riders.

I doubt it. Probably not worth the effort to set them up, only for the kids being shepherded in before the meeting starts. I like the idea for Sundays, but not feasible for Mondays.

Difficulty with Mondays also is, at the moment, we put the sheets down on the doggie track on the Sunday, due to the sheeters working on the Monday. Very late night for them also on a Monday plus a late night for the air fence people. In making decisions, nothing can happen unless an army of new track staff can be found to work these hours. Plenty of talkers, but when it comes down to it nobody wants to red flag, be a sheeter, add to the air fence crew who can't always be at Brough every week due to BYC Sunday meetings for juniors like Archie and Danny. I pointed out these obvious requirements to 'Mr' Phillips when he first started, but as expected he did nothing about it, hence we have very few track staff. Getting staff could well be harder to do than change nights or find another stadium.

Plus we looked at it in 1996 and the owners don't want speedway there. The new houses had been built on what would have been the 4th bend, but the biggest problem was the railway bridge. The road going past the stadium increases in height to pass over the railway, and people would not need to pay to get in as the view from the elevated road was as good as you can get. Identical to the problem that would have been if we had opened up Ashington.

There's an area at the bottom of the Fossway to the right of the bottom roundabout, I think it has horses on it. I wonder if that is big enough or/and not on the councils development plan. Secondly, what about the possibility of some of the derelict land that had a Parsons factory building on, and is just lying there with rubble on it. WE considered that for the training school at one time.

I tried for Follingsby Park in 1996, talking to I think Bernard Thorpe Agents? in Jesmond. I knew they had a redundant shale pit heap at the very back of their main site beside Wardley, but not interested and I think they went on to develop it in keeping with the usual trades and activities. BTW, the interest in Cambois is not the dog track.

Is that the 'townie like Tsunami' who left the TOON exactly 50 years ago, and now lives in Whitley Bay which is as near to Blyth as Brough. There are people linked to Cambois for a possible future track.

My point was getting a country through a pandemic is way more important that the excellent Tony Hancock or any other entertainer.

Of course his job was a lot less valuable to the country.

But the government has still not created the mess as you would like to imply. Is Black Lives Matter their creation ? NO. Or did they tell revellers to disobey the restrictions that they advised, using evidence of the responsibly scientists. NO.

I've had another letter from the NHS and apparently I'll be Let out in 1st August. Yippee.

Rather than not having a roof, Cardiff was chosen because they did. Better financial risk for inclement weather.

I first heard it downstairs in the basement of Windows in the TOON. My mate Rig loved the record, and we got to play it at the Clarence Street Mission, Shieldfield during the Speedway Supporters Club night. Happy days them.

SCB, Yes I heard rumours he is back on the BSF, but I can't find a possible new user name for him. I note he still updates his British Speedway stats file, which is a great site when you require info.

To be far, the 1metre distance is definitely on the cards. It was discussed at a daily broadcast at the weekend.

Another name he got occasionally was Geordie Nut. Presumably as he was never without his wooly hat.

Always been known as Pepsi. My sister and I went to the same school, and he was in her class. He came from the Daisy Hill estate, but later lived on Shields Road opposite the Wolsie Pub.
