  1. NEWCASTLE SPEEDWAY SUPPORTERS CLUB DVD/Post AGM meeting. On Monday 17th November, 2014 at the PTE Club, Byker, the Supporters Club are holding a DVD night, combined with an interview with George English. Bob Tasker of GRT Media, will be showing clips of races from the best 2014 races, and will have available a season long highlights DVD for sale(just in time for Christmas - hint hint). In addition, George, having returned from the AGM the previous night, will be interviewed by Roy, to find out about what happened, and what is in store for us all in 2015. Sounds like a great night, which we have wanted to do for awhile. Starts at 7.30pm, and admission only £2 to cover the room charge, with all under 16's FREE.
  2. There are 2 very good reasons why say GP riders don't ride in the PL. One is financial, but the other is who in their right mind wants to see someone say lap a decent rider. Keep the top riders(9 ad over) in the top league.
  3. Agreed. Plus all riders are on HL rates, and if used as a starter tournament, where do the other 3 riders per team get their real practice.
  4. Yes I quite agree . He should have honoured the booking he accepted, but only by accident told George 11 days later he was off to Torun instead. Is that being professional.
  5. No other offer except go to the GP in Poland, despite the booking, and it's all right saying that now, but you couldn't have said that until Friday night. Better to have been able to give it a go, rather than now just accept defeat.
  6. Nicki would have loved it. He would have been disappointed if they hadn't, given the circumstances.
  7. Hardly 'binning riders at the drop of a hat'. Fans were shouting out for a number 1 and delayed it, hoping the top 5 would crack it and we would get back to winning. We didn't, so the Danny and Robert deal was tried, but failed in Roberts case. General feeling here was the club waited too long.(ask TWK who banged on about every minute).
  8. Now I know you would not read it, or go to the speedway if they did.
  9. Shocking performance by the Diamonds at Edinburgh after such a decent performance there just a few weeks ago. Makes the tie a done deal as far as the Monarchs go, and the treble is now deservedly theirs. Good initial choices, and they have been extremely lucky with injuries, so that is usually a winning formula. Pleased to see that George has put his real thoughts in print, which side with the views of all of the supporters. Richie might have a handy average for next year, but if he would rather go on the p*** on Poland, and drop someone in with a guest booking, perhaps others might see him in a different light. Remember he is supposed to be a Professional speedway rider.
  10. The ruling is to prevent a club to facilitate a collection, which in a way is to condone the collection. Nothing can stop supporters doing their own collection but the club can't be seen to agree with it. I personally don't agree with fans collections, unless it is to rectify an injustice.
  11. Yes, a Newcastle Speedway one set up to accept income from the sales.
  12. No Newcastle money goes into a "William Hill account". That is unless it is the Stadium rent fee, which is paid later.
  13. It is the worst night for going out for entertainment in the licensing trade.
  14. Most of the knockers on here are not now speedway fans. Some wouldn't even go if the promotion gave them a free season ticket. That's true.
  15. Might be if it was 30 heats and £24, but the real price is £27 unless you put the money up first by buying tickets online.
  16. You are the fool if you think there isn't folks on here who hope it fails. Read the thread before making stupid statements.
  17. There are some on here who will read and weep.
  18. Did you not change the exit coming off the forth bend fairly early on in your existence. Seem to remember riders complaining about being pushed out to the fence and they thought it was dangerous, as well as a change to the gate area for the tractors. I remember the second bend being widened , was that because of the big smash when a rider or bike went over and injured someone.
  19. Racing on the worst night of the week for punters, must be a prime cause of the failure.
  20. When Wolbert first came across, he rode Brough brilliantly with power. I commented at the time he was one of my favourite riders and loved to see him, especially when he declared that his favourite track was Brough. Since then, he has been in terminal decline so that he is only capable of the odd good start/meeting. To my mind he has lost the dedication and no longer tries the way he did when he first came over. I honestly think that if the Monarchs do take him back, he will frustrate them the same as he has frustrated you and the other Glasgow fans. He will flatter to deceive but i think what he had has gone.
