  1. Yes it is the reward system to recognise certain peoples extra contribution as you know. I think Keith is thinking that we should give everyone that walks through the gate, a medal which is not realistic or reasonable. There will always be those whose contributions are more valuable to keep speedway running and the Lord Mayors award was for that purpose.
  2. They would not be liable to pay rent if the law prevents them from having meetings. Tenants as such could not be haemorrhaging vast sums of money, as they are not employing anybody. Areas where they could have lost money is if they paid out signing fees/deals up front, and if they have spent monies on their racing equipment like air fence panels, start gates, office upgrades, replacement equipment like tractors and graders/blades as well of course with new shale, which would then be new investment for next season.
  3. I think you are being too singular. Everyone is important at Brough for there to be any speedway. But it has got to be accepted that the roles of some people are more important and essential for the sport to be sustained. If you or I stopped going to Brough, it would still continue. If the likes of Dalbers did, there would be NO SPEEDWAY. If it hadn't been for Me, George and Peter, there would have been no Speedway as from 1997. Dalbers has always been behind Newcastle Speedway for a long time, and still contributed financially even during his short self imposed exile due to differences with a Promoter. As can be seen from THJ's post, he was of great assistance to Rob during the takeover and still remains to continue to help Newcastle Speedway,
  4. Who is the announcer now Andy ? I gather it's not Graham, and I know it wasn't Rob P cos I was standing with him. Mind you the quality of the equipment left a lot to be desired as it floated away and then came back.
  5. I still think the likes of EU riders will be eligible for visa's, despite no Freedom of Movement. Be the same as USA and OZ riders now.
  6. I read that Rob has plans to run with the same team next year, but that could be difficult. The couple of foreign lads who haven't ridden here before could have other priorities on the continent, riders could be tapped up in the meanwhile to join another team who maybe have a vacancy in their team, being already two points down might be handy if the points limit is lowered, and Archie is a must. Highly unlikely to happen anyway, but it must be applauded as a start point.
  7. Surely that is a good example of democracy.
  8. Might be wrong but I thought the webmaster left earlier, and there was no maintenance and access given to others for updating.
  9. Congratulations to the three Newcastle riders in the British Youth Championship round at Scunthorpe yesterday. In the main event Archie did the club proud by coming in 3rd, with Jordan Palin in pole position, Dan Thompson in second and Joe Thompson in 4th. Both Owen Booth and Ben Trigger put a good show up in their respective categories. Good day for Newcastle. Next round announced as 22nd August at Leicester at 6.00pm, but as yet not allowing spectators. The round yesterday drew 500 well behaved fans observing social distancing, having all made previous bookings as no pay on the day due to Track and Trace regs.
  10. Nearly 50K deaths so far, and you think that it is not deadly. imagine the real death figure if we were told to ignore it and let it run its course.
  11. Why. Surely promotions would just give a rider another pay check.
  12. I believe that was necessary at Odsal to complete the end bays.
  13. Yes it is. It holds regular training session per month, weather depending.
  14. The existing track would still be the training track. The new track would be build on the flat area of the lefthand side of that track. I have been told the council Is well up for this new development as this new area is a dumping ground for torched cars, and the council think the new development ticks a lot boxes regarding social problems. The hardcore and shale is currently on the site from Derwent Park, and a very local rider has had a drone up to design the new track, which I am told it will be based on the shape and characteristics of the new NSS. Everything is in place, with some very good people involved, including the owner of the training track and the other area, which is a great contribution. Only thing to resolve is to attract a promoter to help the project on when it gets the go ahead. Here's hoping.
  15. Terrific performance from Brennan remembering this was, I think, his comeback meeting from a very long layoff. Pity about Leon, but I would bet Tom has done more laps at Eastbourne than Leon has at Berwick.
  16. This is the sort of stupidity that fuels the hotspots currently being forced to lockdown because of their poor behaviour.
  17. You sound like you were already done, before the COVID interference.
  18. It wouldn't stop him reading the forum, and I think he has actually updated his excellent stats website this year after his release.
  19. That's rather missing the point but Neil. As you know, my efforts with the training of Newcastle kids was always about bringing on young riders for the future with the Diamonds, as you should already know from your experience with me. It is certainly known by most people at Brough, seeing I have put my time, effort and a lot of money into kids training since our first Gems team was set up by me in 2002. It certainly doesn't deserve the sly comment about 'trying to get a pat on the back " for doing it.
  20. Just won the PL title, and opened the doors for about 10 riders from Worky, starting the careers of both Craig and John along with Willie Lawson Jamie Robertson, Ritchie Hall, Carl Shield, Kris Irving and many more. What did you ever do that was anywhere near important.
  21. Except there was no mention of a certain team who gave them their start in team speedway. Yes, Newcastle Gems and myself.
  22. if you read this weeks Speedway Star, Matt/Dan Ford explains that whilst the dogs are not running the stadium staff are furloughed, so the dogs would have to have returned presumably to man the stadium for speedway meetings. Hence a possible doubt for Poole.
