Pinstripe and arson It has no comparison at all to gambling and roulette. In gambling all you see is someone make lucky money or lose it. With donations from supporters and sponsors within their ability to give, they are giving others, who are prepared to put their necks on the line and run the gauntlet from others, an attempt to set up and maintain a speedway team, so that others can support and pay to see it. Don't think personal profit or gain as there is non in speedway, right. It takes a brave man to pick up and run a speedway team. Given the abuse and knocking some promotions get, one wonders why anybody does it. Remember I have been there, and we did not have a track in place when we opened in 1997. It cost me, I never made a penny out of it as you know, but I still sponsor and put time and money into it. WHY, Cos i want to keep speedway going at Newcastle. If Peterborough or any team closes it's doors, everyone and their dog knows what the promoters should have done with their money and time, to keep it going. When it happens next, let's look to see if the critics have made a contribution to it's closure. It's not always down to bad promoters that speedway closes.

In addition, if the 2015 season does not make break-even, and makes losses, who will own those losses. Suspicious lot speedway fans. They hope someone will try and keep their club running, and do nowt else but interrogate and knock others efforts to do so, forgetting the responsibility they are taking on with considerable time and financial implications. Then some wonder why promoters walk away from the sport, and enjoy a stress free life with their families. Would the knockers do it, or are they only there to act as critics. Remember anybody can criticise, not everyone can or will "do" things.

Is that before or after Crump99 puts his bit in.

Must admit I have not heard that one, and Mills said at the Dinner Dance he was looking for a slot in 2015.

"Around three quarters" of £40,000 is £30,000.

By the same orion logic. All those found guilty by a court of law should be considered as innocent, until they prove themselves not guilty. As most criminals probably say or believe they are innocent at some stage, that is a lot of persecuted law breakers.

Crazy Sue And Her Gang Of Updaters And Texters
Tsunami replied to jrs's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Some might, but not generally. At Newcastle, our website has two parts to a Live Updates section, which is used for both home and away meetings. The two parts are the riders and results shown in a programme format for easy reading, and in the Chatroom one you get the current situation, but everyone signed on can jump in and comment as the meeting commences. You can see who is signed on, and you can fill in the gaps with banter with others, whether they are Diamond fans or visitors. When Sue can't get a texter at a meeting we are riding in, our service is used as the input for the Updates service, and full credit for it is given. Top girl Sue. -
Thanks for that. I thought there was still a limit. Point made is still valid in that averaging team points at £30 seems high, and the promoter would have to pay both away and home points for his riders out of one home gate income. IMO that would be over £2000.
-
Agreed, no way.
-
Why would he want it. It's not a competition as to who is the best rider.
-
NO. You also have to pay your riders for the difference between their actual rates, and the standard exchange rate between clubs for the away meetings. Despite that I think the net payment of your riders would be over £2000 for a home and an away meeting.

A Format To Suit Fans And Riders
Tsunami replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A fixed night will do no good to British speedway. As you say, you can't please everyone all the time, and a lot of stadiums just could not be available every week on certain nights. So some tracks would not be available, and could close or have to drop to another league. The only group that want a fixed night is the riders who ride in multiple national leagues, but if a single night was chosen for the UK, how many tracks would actually be able to afford them. Instead of trying to eliminate the sport totally, let's stick with the tracks on their natural nights, based on stadium availability and the wish of most of the home crowd. There are bigger issues to tackle to maintain the sport, the biggest one being the shortage of British riders which, if sorted, could lead to the near elimination of expensive foreign riders. -

87.51% of all statistics are made up. -
Make that 2.5 grand.

Yes, each club has the right to maintain their own website, in fact it's the opposite of what yahoho has said.
-
Dream on.

You only have to use the same domain .co

Your original point was doubting that Masters could/would have learnt anything riding at Brough. What I was saying was that greater riders than him did learn, and go on to greater things. Ivan in fact always said if you could ride Brough well, you could ride everywhere, and backed his judgement by recommending many Kiwis to sign for us. I think i'll settle with Ivan's endorsement.
-
Yes he would. Didn't spoil the careers of Larsen, KB, Bjarne or those World Champs Ivan, Anders, Ole and of course Nicki P.
-
Great to see such a great portrayal of our sport and performed by a talented top group. Top vid and commentary.

The answer is yes. Jim and partner Ian, of Contraband, were the promoters of Peterborough from about 1997 for several years, During that period Jim had Simon Stead, Dave Howe, Ollie Allan, Darren & Jamie Smith, Paul Clews all as youngsters winning the PL and taking some of them up to the EL when he joined that league.

Apparently someone has donated £10K anonymously.

I understood that Olle was retiring, and that 2014 was his last season. Shoulder popping out too easy was the reason.
