  1. It may have missed your attention Riggers, but it is Peterborough cash that Ged and Trevor need. Some of you lot on here already think you have the necessary promoting skills with your constant advice in that direction, rather than that commodity that they really need at this moment, some money. Wonder no more BigCat and Hans. After opening Newcastle up I'm 1997, signing up a few GP standard Danes, Winning the PL and joint winners the year after, and launching and running the Gems team, one felt it was time to get on with other personal interests in my life. There are other things in my life, like my personal sports and travel, but to continue would have Riggers claiming more self praise, and one would not want to make his day. Get giving.
  2. Ha Ha, but a successful one. How about you or Crumpie ? Thought not.
  3. Don't know about Swales, but does anybody think Ged joined the Panthers mid season without putting in something to help finances. Why would he join, and Mick accept him, without a lump being paid. It is my knowledge that he did. Appealing for more cash to keep a club afloat is to everyone, but obviously( to non Panther fans of course) it doesn't mean everyone will or can donate anything. The alternative of course is not to ask and just close it down. Then the promotion gets more stick for not being in for the long run. FFS. Simple situation, If you want speedway(at PL level) then some fans that can, need to help out with a donation, sponsorship or some other deal. Folks on here bemoaning the efforts because they really want EL are dreamers in another world. If no PL this year, you can forget EL for ever. IMO.
  4. True, but that is not the situation in this case. She only went to the Police in the first case about her lost handbag. After discussions as to what happened, it was the Police who told her she had been raped. No frame up in this case.
  5. Time for the Panther fans to demonstrate they want speedway. If they don't, they aint got speedway, and they can blame who they want, except themselves of course.
  6. Good day at the track today. Good response for helpers and managed to wash 12 air fence panels, a couple of other repairs, and sorted and scraped the good kickboards. Lovely day to do it, and we stopped just before the cold set in. We will be back next week washing panels with a possibility of finishing them using two karchers. Why not join us and spread the load. Many thanks to all the helpers, Ta from me.
  7. Quite agree. Not everyone can track a team that is going to be competitive, but surely it has to be a gimmy that with a weak team in opposition, the other team is picking up the tabs for the increase in points gained. Only a fool, or the publicity officer of a weak team, would argue otherwise. Oh, hang on...
  8. OK, we'll get a guest instead. I was away from Speedway during the Ross era, but despite that I thought this article was one of the best reads in the SS for a long time. Decent article about Guests, but some will have read it, forgot it and be bleating on here about why we have them within a fortnight.
  9. Oh Dear. I see you don't do humour.
  10. scribbler never said it was only women that can be raped. Are you trying to just obtuse and deliberately missing the point. TTM listed instances of cases where rape could occur, and not be known by the victim. Your version and attitude in reply seems to be that rape is not rape then. For your sake I hope you don't get raped, you might want to think on that.
  11. With his upturn in scoring and trouble free year in 2014, I reckon he is keener than the start of the year, and I would love Robbo to be back for us in 2015. DEEK always seemed to be a key to teams that win things, well I look at Robbo as being our talisman, even though he is not usually our higher averaged rider. XXXX Incidently. Anybody got a spare couple of hours on Sunday, could pop along to Brough and help us all finish off the washing of the rest of the air fence panels. All panels and kick boards are off the track, and about half of the fence panels are already washed and put away. I would think that the next two Sundays will see us get them all finished with a bit of extra help. We have a Karcher, so it's a case of blasting them, hanging them out and then putting them away. XXXX Don't forget about the DVD night and the interview with George about AGM news. Starts at 7.30pm at the PTE on Monday 17th Nov. Admission £2 per adult, with everyone U16 FREE admission. GRTMedia will be showing 2014 races on the screen, and amongst others, will be selling the 2014 Highlights DVD, just in time for Xmas.
  12. Looks like you have been duped by orion. The Third Man put the case on this forum yesterday, and is the reason why I have no sympathy for Evans, and support both the stances taken by Ennis and Charlie. And that's your problem. So according to you no offence was therefore committed. What about rape dating using drugs. Is that OK and above the law. NO.
  13. No one is asking anybody to put £40k into it. Donations are being asked for in an attempt to raise £40k. Not quite the same risk is it. No doubt that Ged has already put money in to keep Peterborough going when he joined late in the season. Together with Swales, he must from his experience since, that he thinks it is worthwhile to stay around and devote himself to help keep the club running, and no doubt would be responsible for any debts that it occurred(not anyone who bought in to the idea). I bet if he walked, given the doubting on here, it would all be his fault Peterborough didn't run in 2015. It wouldn't be him that walked away, in my eyes. Remember Ged is not local, coming from Teesside, and being sponsor and mechanic to Ulrich and Danny Phillips, and sponsor of Carl Wilkinson with his personal MOTIVE organisation. He seems to like what he sees and wants to help, and knows the risk of collecting debt, but he obviously feels confident he and Swales can be successful, if they can get some indication of support. Working capital is needed, and he has asks the fans to contribute and needs £40K. What's wrong with that.
  14. So as long as the girl didn't know she had been raped it was alright according to you. FFS.
  15. Yep, it's a closed shop. But anybody can join them, and vote on things, so what's to stop others doing it. Ah, it would mean using their own money.
  16. So both taking advantage of a girl unable to agree to sex, in the eyes of the law, makes both males guilty of rape. Instead of trying to support Evans with his 'I am innocent mylord', you should be fighting to get his mate convicted of rape as well. Now that would be justice.
  17. Pinstripe and arson It has no comparison at all to gambling and roulette. In gambling all you see is someone make lucky money or lose it. With donations from supporters and sponsors within their ability to give, they are giving others, who are prepared to put their necks on the line and run the gauntlet from others, an attempt to set up and maintain a speedway team, so that others can support and pay to see it. Don't think personal profit or gain as there is non in speedway, right. It takes a brave man to pick up and run a speedway team. Given the abuse and knocking some promotions get, one wonders why anybody does it. Remember I have been there, and we did not have a track in place when we opened in 1997. It cost me, I never made a penny out of it as you know, but I still sponsor and put time and money into it. WHY, Cos i want to keep speedway going at Newcastle. If Peterborough or any team closes it's doors, everyone and their dog knows what the promoters should have done with their money and time, to keep it going. When it happens next, let's look to see if the critics have made a contribution to it's closure. It's not always down to bad promoters that speedway closes.
  18. In addition, if the 2015 season does not make break-even, and makes losses, who will own those losses. Suspicious lot speedway fans. They hope someone will try and keep their club running, and do nowt else but interrogate and knock others efforts to do so, forgetting the responsibility they are taking on with considerable time and financial implications. Then some wonder why promoters walk away from the sport, and enjoy a stress free life with their families. Would the knockers do it, or are they only there to act as critics. Remember anybody can criticise, not everyone can or will "do" things.
  19. Is that before or after Crump99 puts his bit in.
  20. Must admit I have not heard that one, and Mills said at the Dinner Dance he was looking for a slot in 2015.
  21. "Around three quarters" of £40,000 is £30,000.
  22. By the same orion logic. All those found guilty by a court of law should be considered as innocent, until they prove themselves not guilty. As most criminals probably say or believe they are innocent at some stage, that is a lot of persecuted law breakers.
  23. Some might, but not generally. At Newcastle, our website has two parts to a Live Updates section, which is used for both home and away meetings. The two parts are the riders and results shown in a programme format for easy reading, and in the Chatroom one you get the current situation, but everyone signed on can jump in and comment as the meeting commences. You can see who is signed on, and you can fill in the gaps with banter with others, whether they are Diamond fans or visitors. When Sue can't get a texter at a meeting we are riding in, our service is used as the input for the Updates service, and full credit for it is given. Top girl Sue.
