  1. And factor in the storage for it, and also the fact that it will only be good for about 4 meetings. I suppose the extra track labour will just appear every week to put it down and pick it up, that is if they are not already working on the track, putting sheets on the dog track, and the million and one jobs that fans don't see or know about but have to be done to get a meeting on.
  2. More opportunities to stuff them surely.
  3. NEWCASTLE SPEEDWAY SUPPORTERS CLUB Race Night and Rider announcement tonight at the Corner House pub, Coast Road, Heaton. Don't forget it's 7.30 for an 8.00 start with10 races to bet on, and the final rider announcement. FREE entry and there's a raffle, and we could be joined by one of this years team who has flown in especially to be with us. See you there Quite agree. If the days of meetings are so important to book hols and make arrangements, all the fixtures are on the BSPA site, so why don't people look at that till our fixtures appear on our website. Is it really that urgent to your average fan who A, doesn't go to away meetings, and B, doesn't book anyway moaning about it being a waste of time as they change so much. The webmaster has a full time job, and there usually is a period for him to get time to put items on the website. Wouldn't it be nice to be so professional to employ full-time exclusive staff. Only if you totally dismiss the current financial situation of nearly every speedway club. It's all very well SCB, Steve Park, Arson, etc, having a go most of the time. If only i was as perfect.
  4. Got to think of the younger ones. Even I would have probably had a vest on today. Southampton were about 1000 short with their allocation, and we must have been about 2000 light.
  5. Brilliant isn't it. Poole highlight that one of their regular fans has been crowned World Champ, and was on major TV, and someone takes the piss. FFS. Next thing they'll be moaning about Promotions not promoting.
  6. You are right. Supermarkets do allow Speedway in their supermarkets with bike displays and giving out flyers , etc, it just depends on the store manager. Newcastle Speedway Supporters Club last year did 'bag packs' in both Asda and Sainsbury's last year and raised a good amount of money from it.
  7. NEWCASTLE SPEEDWAY @ Brough Park Stadium Due to the worsening weather forecast for tomorrow(Sunday 18th Jan) when snow, heavy rain and low temperatures are now forecast, I have decided to cancel the track work session. It would not be safe or pleasant to work in these conditions, so the track work is now going to restart next Sunday(26th). Hope you can all make it then, see ya.
  8. My 'like' Ray was for the last comment about speedway being not an expensive sport, relatively speaking. Problem is at the top end is riders have to have every gismo, even though I doubt some things make any difference.
  9. Like the Hagon sponsored 150cc Box Datona sealed engines, used in the British Youth Championships.
  10. Says the guy that everything goes over his head.
  11. This Sunday(18th) sees us resume doing the track work to enable the 2015 season to run. Seeing as it's a tad cold, we will be making it a short session starting at 9.30am. It might be cold, but there will not be rain and the sun should be out. Paint won't dry in these temps, and the remaining air fence panels will not be washed, so we will be nailing the kick boards back on that are used behind the air fence panels. It'll be a good restart, and it's manual work to keep everyone warmish. Hot drinks and bickies throughout the session. All those who have commented on here, are more than welcome to see what goes on, and help with the work, but please come with warm clothing and gardening type gloves. All tools and equipment provided to work with a set of dedicated fans who are here every work session. See ya there.
  12. NEWCASTLE SPEEDWAY SUPPORTERS CLUB Just a reminder for the Race Night at the Corner House, Coast Road, Heaton, 7.30 for an 8.00pm start. FREE entry and 10 races to place bets on. If you haven't been to a race night before, 50p bets are placed on the first two finishers in an unseen race. The Tote is calculated, and the unseen race is then run. The winners with the right order collect their Tote winnings. More than one ticket can be bought per race, and races can be from other tracks like Sheffield and Berwick, as well as Newcastle. In addition the last rider to be signed for the 2015 team will be announced by George. Remember, these events are put on for the pleasure of the supporters, to keep in touch off season and off track. Any money made is put to good use to assist the promotion and/or riders when severe needs are identified. The Supporters Club needs YOUR help to continue. See ya there.
  13. They have declared Allen in, but if he is a 7 still they don't have 3 points for the 7th rider.
  14. My memory of his past claims was that with his ideas he would work for free to prove his claims. As you say, seems to have completely changed his tune, so be interested to see what happens.
  15. Race Night at the Corner House, Coast Road, Heaton. FREE admission, 7.30 for an 8.00pm start. Yes, there's a raffle.
  16. Must have thought you were Len's press man.
  17. The circumstances behind the 2 medical shortages at Worky have been fully explained, and accepted, whilst you were away on your sabbatical. Looks like you will just have to stay perplexed.
  18. Yes, an incredible situation when heavy aircraft YES, but NO to speedway bikes. Unbelievable.
  19. I know a couple of OZ riders who were amazed that he got into the country in the first place.
