  1. Steve Wilcox from Middlesborough days, along with Geoff Pusey, were on a bikes during one of the Redcar Amateur meetings this summer.
  2. Along with ex Ref Will Hunter in starting Felton up. Sad to see the bad news of his death. When Paul Fry broke his leg at Berwick he was transferred to Wansbeck Hospital. I used to go up every day, taking him some food , trunks, socks. etc and just keeping him company. I was joined by Ken, who I knew, and together we arranged transport for him to be taken home. He always had a word with me about my junior activities at Newcastle, and gave me a lot of encouragement in my early days. RIP Ken
  3. One major consideration would have been the need for direct access from the main road for the riders vans next to the pits area. Then the changing rooms and medical room next to the pits in the main stand.
  4. It might have been a nice publicity ideal for all the promotions to say they would start with the same team as 2020. In reality there will always be movement and changes , possibly connected to Poland's rules, riders wanting more cash, riders retiring, riders getting tapped up. We needed to drop someone to now capitalise on it, and bring our team up to the strength of others, as a 2 points deficit was never on with most fans. Imagine a rider really riding great, increasing his average by quite a bit, and us only ending up as the same strength os the start level of others teams. Look forward to see the new team.
  5. Great to hear the stories from James. Pity he didn't say much about his time at Newcastle, but he is well remembered from his time with us. He brought his son down to Newcastle, I think it was at Press and Practice time, and he did a few races with our Archie Freeman. James's sweeps around the outside of Newcastle are legendry.
  6. So what about the filming and televising of British Leagues during the weekdays.
  7. Danish riders have to ride in the Danish Leagues to be able to get the permission to ride in places like Poland, UK, Sweden, etc. Without the stars riding at home, it would be doubtful that speedway could continue in Denmark. It's a bit like respecting what you were given to make it where you are now.
  8. Was Keith Heuwan not closely related to Alan Cowland.
  9. ha ha. Not mentioning of course it's the people who don't follow their rules that possibly put others in hospital with the virus. The government has already stated that after the 2nd of December, it will be back to the Tiers, but hoping that most areas will have seen a reduction in the R factor which is why we are having the lockdown.
  10. Could be that a short stroke piston is shorter than a long stroke one.
  11. That would be my understanding of the situation as well.
  12. Yes, a decent summing up Jim. We all worked well and hard together to give the club some support when times needed it, especially the air fence. It's just sad that it has ended the way it has. As Malla has said there was reluctance to take it on, and I think Rob might also find it hard to get anybody when he was probably hoping that there would be people to take it over. Rachel has done a fantastic job since and obviously I think she will be involve again, when Rob gets things sorted out. Here's hoping. NB Apologies to Ken Davies for forgetting to include him in the list of people who were active within the supporters club. He was a late addition to the original group, but he has been a tireless worker since, always being there when the club needed someone, and identifying and booking the South Gosforth Social Club for the most recent events.
  13. Sorry if it was't you, but you and Alan are or were very friendly with Kenny so who else could it be. Pleased you have agreed we had a free hand and operated without any influence. We didn't want it, and just got on and did a great job, so it's sad that others would try and say otherwise for their own reasons..
  14. But you know that you could not have said to Kenny that the promotion interfered in any way with what we were doing. It would be telling lies if say you and Alan P said that to Kenny.
  15. Well they are telling fibs, and you would believe it.
  16. The fall of the Supporters `Club was when I left, having spent three years doing what I had to do to help the club out, and no-one was particularly keen to keep it going.
  17. Cos that para involved me, and what you are saying is not true so pointing that out to you. Why shouldn't I put your record straight. Why would I be in on the latest developments .News to me until I read it in here. Looking for a dig I think. As I said above previously ,I retired from 2003 and even gave my controlling shares away as a gift.
  18. Well, stop making stupid and uninformed comments. The promotion were pleased at what'we were doing, and it was us that were pulling the strings, not them. Gillian, Alan, Malla, Ken D, Janet and the Purvis's can't say anything different..
  19. Maybe, but not about the Supporters Club, and Malla and Alan Pye would agree with me.
  20. Rubbish. There were people like the Purvis's and Janet prepared to serve on the Supporters committee and ,in view of the pending cost of the Air Fence, it was time to restart the Supporters Club. Steve Brock asked me to attend the first meeting and chair the meeting to show them have to conduct a meeting. i stayed on for a few meetings, which was now attended by Malla, Gillian F, Ken Davies and Alan Pye, and I was asked if I would stay on, which eventually I agreed to. During the next three years we raised over £8k, and donated £4k to the air fence and were the biggest donators for the air fence. Malla and Jim will tell you there was NO interference by Alan or George, and in fact they turned up for one meeting together just to see us at work. I left after those three years, but unfortunately it didn't continue very long after that which was a great shame as we had worked well. Since then Rachel has tried to get it running again with limited support.
  21. Bit surprised to see this. I told Geoge and Darryl I intended to retire from Newspeed Ltd in 2003, and I actually gave all my controlling shares free to Daryll. It was me that suggested the new name with 2003 being added as I had read that Bournemouth FC 1964 ? had done it to carry over the goodwill with continued smoother running. Since that time the club has been operating as Newspeed Ltd 2003. Why the original company was not wound up until 2010 puzzles me, as it would not have been trading after 2003.
  22. I was a very decent dart player in my twenties. I was not a drinker, but for my dart matches I used to have about a pint and a half before and during my matches and became a very good player. Difficulty was if my opponent was late or my team match didn't start on time, I ran our of confidence and not at my best.
