I am not a F1 fan but I doubt that is true. During the days of say Vandwall ? British cars were BRITISH RACING GREEN, and from memory we seemed to do OK then. The change to multi colours, British or not, has more to do with brand colours and owners IMO. Perhaps someone like Lucifer can comment on this, being a F1 fan.

Perhaps you shouldn't shoot the 'doer'. Paul is perfectly entitled to be dismayed with the riders attitude,( no bike, no leathers, etc) when they are the biggest gainers of such events. Paul needs support and constructive ideas, or get the might of the non doers on the BSF to come with solutions for a change.

Is that supposed to be a criticism, or a piss take. The guy is in charge of a very good cause, but the recipients seem to have issues to appear in the event that raises money for them to draw on when injured. If it was me, I would be pissed off, and say so, if the riders did not give me full support in those circumstances. Unfortunately, anybody in speedway that contributes, or does something, usually gets criticism regardless and usually from folks who do nowt for the sport. WHY.

Thing is he keeps going, trying to make things work. His critics have usually done nothing. I find it odd that he is loathed at Peterborough, and initially also at Coventry. Since then he seems to have won a lot over at Coventry with what he has done, and the team he has built, but the usual critics keep following him around. There are a lot of plusses with him, but like everyone else he has his faults. I suppose his critics have them as well, but not on here of course.

When we first opened up at Newcastle in 1997, we got Wulf jackets purposely designed and made by Wulf sports. All was well till a rider noticed that Wulf sports have a green laurel leaf crown and WORLD CHAMPIONS on the lefthand breast of the jacket. He handpicked it off because of the bad luck thing. The stupid thing was he was our representative that agreed the design with Wulf.

In the 60's, I used to play league darts in Byker, Newcastle. In one pub they used to pass around ham shanks with a price sticker on. If you wanted it, you looked up, and someone would nod to you and the sale was done. In another, a Dulux ? colour chard would be circulating, and you chose your paint, and the guy would approach you. The paint would be delivered same place next week, just as long as that colour was being painted in the ships that week in the Tyne Shipyards. In the pub I played for, you would see a puppy on a long string and a brown label with a price on it's collar. If you wanted it, you tugged the string and the bloke on the other end came over and completed the deal for your new puppy. All this happened with the 'nice girls' on the bar high stools, with stickers on the soles of their high heels. Happy Days.

Quite agree pp. A great effort today from a committed group of people who have worked all through the winter, with only a break for Xmas. Todays efforts means everything is in place and ready, and as Alan Hedley said late on, we could have hosted a meeting at 6.00pm. Minor items to do next week, so if anybody fancies a trip to Brough to give us a hand, you would be more than welcome.
