  1. Rubbish. More to do with people watching speedway free, and letting others keep the stadium open for them. There is always free loaders. Years ago Lakeside held a meeting with free admission and about 4k turned up. Week later, and normal prices, and they stayed away. I wonder why.
  2. The clay mine owners wanted to extend their working area for clay.
  3. No they didn't, and they haven't. Like life in general, you mend things as you go along, hoping to make things better overall, unless you know better of course.
  4. Disagree. Foreign players come across here and also get better. If say 60% of the total players are foreign, I would suggest that our 40% suffer, as opposed to say 20% foreign therefore giving British lads the places and opportunity, to also get better as a natural progression. One only has to compare the analogy with the lack of decent British speedway riders, whilst the number of foreign riders increased in our leagues. More places and opportunities for Brit riders or players will produce a bigger and better pool at the end. I agree. I was thinking more of an overlap of eras with Bobby and those players that I mentioned.
  5. Diamonds Team Steve Worrall Christian Henry Lewis Kerr Anton Rosen Ludde Lindgren Simon Neilsen Lewis Rose
  6. That of course was my point, instead of making a sweeping statement like MattK did. With Beardsley, Adams, Liniker, Gazza, Shearer, Robson, etc, we had decent players, and we were unlucky with penalty shootouts, 'hand of god', etc. We kept missing out at the final hurdle, despite being unlucky through things like Bryan Robson's shoulder probs in Mexico ? Compare that era/s with our current position and we were in the running then.
  7. Exactly. Unless you are in the pits, you don't know whether riders want to go out, or even have a warmed up bike that's legal at the stage of the meeting, or are in the toilet. At this stage of the season, you try to get the win, but riders have to be given rides for them to pick up the form for the rest of the season. If you take riders out, and they are in the doldrums for a little while, the same folks are complaining about the rider not being given the opportunities to get form. TM's are alway wrong BTW. But it does in Speedway, when friendlies precede the League. In Football, they take some decent players off to look after them for the rest of the season, and give other players pitch time. Both practices are right, and Speedway does not usually compare with Football.
  8. Excluding of course the Robson days with Shearer and Bryan Robson, so it's not true.
  9. To be fair, early season TM's sometimes don't change riders to give them all track practice.
  10. Stand corrected. I was the guy organising the rides.
  11. I didn't think Tommy went back out. You probably noted I had the kids out on the track at that stage at the end. If Tommy did go out again for one final ride , then Matic was second last off the track, my sincere apols.
  12. A NO B Back to the original manufacturer to have the required disclaimer tag stitched in the garment.
  13. Voldrih was the last rider off the track, yesterday.
  14. No problems for me. Was first mooted in 2013 by the FA.
  15. At Newcastle's Speedway Supporters Club's Meet the Rider night on Sunday night, we raised £200 for Ricky's Fund from donations.
  16. Yes, but a bit of a difference riding a 28 day contract than riding the whole UK season.
  17. Thanks. I knew you would be useful one year.
  18. I think the new rules are meant to include MotoX events as well.
  19. Could be the rest rejected the opportunity, and next in line was KL.
  20. Corrrect, and as a result of his injuries, the association of helmet manufacturers, have advised the FIM that the helmets are not suitable for a camera mount, on the grounds of rider safety. The SCB is just following and applying rules given the advice they have been issued. As others have said, and this years rule book states, any cameras must be bike mounted safely. If Hans continues to try to use a chest camera, I would think that would be banned in due course, using SCB's analogy above regarding the spike theory.
